Okay so here is the first snippet of DL, redone as the first version was a steaming pile of crap, so I hope you enjoy and review!

Chapter One: Blue Bell

Even though she was still relatively new to the job Princess Yui, formally of the Northern Water Tribe, rather doubted she would ever feel at ease around the Spirit of Fire. His face was covered in so many small, pale white, scars that is made it seem like a Paisho table with two miniature suns where the eyes were supposed to be. His skin looked as if somebody had left it in an oven too long and burnt it, add to this a beard that that went from his chin all the way down to the belt of his concealing red and black robes then split in two, to loop back up into the Top Knot his hair was in, and you were presented with a rather intimidating figure, especially if you were a former mortal.

Agni was one of the strongest spirits in existence, Yui had never seen him use any substantial power, but just standing there made her uneasy as she could feel it radiating off of him like a supernova. Though all of her time spent as the new spirit of the moon the only thing about Agni she could be sure of was that he couldnÆt crack a joke if his life depended on it.

ôLord Agni it is a pleasure, as always, what brings you to my humble realm?ö Yui asked, hoping to keep the unexpected meeting as brief as possible, left unsaid was the fact the her humble realm was, in fact, the moon which ever circled the world of her birth. Also left unsaid was the strain the recent conflict had put on the relationship between the elements, Khon-Ma and Fei Lien knew Agni had no control over his peopleÆs decisions anymore then they did, but with all of creation out of balance it had been harder and harder to not grow resentful of him.

Which is why, except for the occasional appearance, he had been almost non existent after the death of YuiÆs predecessor.

ôIÆve come to discuss with you the events of your encounter with the outsider.ö When he spoke his voice came out smooth and calm, Agni was well known for the tight reigns he kept on his emotions.

Agni never lost control of himself.

Yui stiffened in surprise at his words. She had been walking the road between her realm and the Earth not two days ago when she had been attacked by a strange creature she had never before seen. It had been twelve feet tall with mottled grey skin gold reptilian eyes, a perfectly round, hairless, head with no nose or ears, but very sharp teeth, and six arms all longer then its legs, which was where itÆs great height had come from. The most shocking surprise had come when the creature had created water out of seemingly nowhere and attacked her with her own element.

Yui was the spirit of the moon, one of the most powerful beings in creation, thus it was no great difficulty to destroy the foul thing, whatever it had been, but it had taken a much more significant amount of power then she had first thought, which had troubled her greatly. It was only after she had destroyed it that she had realized that whatever the thing had been it was not native to her plain of existence, which could only mean it had come from somewhere outside.

That was never a good thing.

ôWhat is it you wish to know?ö Yui asked, while she didnÆt like being around him she had no great reason to hate the Spirit of Fire.

ôNot anything I need to know, but to explain.ö Agni paused for a moment, as if looking for the right words, before launching back into the conversation. ôThe creature you faced was only one of many and more are showing up in the Spirit World every day.ö

YuiÆs eyes widened as she fought to keep the panic from taking her. ôWhere are they coming from?ö

ôI do not know, but with Fei Lien at his weakest in decades and Khon-Ma yet to wake from his enforced slumber it falls to us to deal with this situation.

All was quiet as he waited for her response, and what could she honestly say? Over the years, as the world slowly lost itÆs balance, Agni had been getting stronger while the others, herself included, had been diminishing. Until recently Khon-Ma had been the only one who could still match him, but with the fall of Ba Sing Se much of her power had vanished and she had been forced into hibernation in an effort to lessen the power drain until balance was restored.

Fei Lien was the worst of them all. He had all but stopped existing after the Air Nomads had all been killed off and held on only by the slimiest thread of influence, thanks in no small part to the Avatar. All of this could be repaired in time, but not if they were attacked by an outsider while they were still weak from all the infighting.

ôWhat do you suggest?ö Yui asked, finally breaking the silence that had set in while she had pondered the current crisis.

Agni turned his head to the right slightly to gaze out at the sun, his realm, that was just starting to make its way into view from where they were standing. ôIf we still had balance we could just locate the rift in reality and close it on this side. However with only the two of us I am afraid it will have to be closed from the other.

ôThen neither us nor the Avatar will be able to do it as we can not leave this realm.ö

ôWhich is why we will be using somebody else.ö Agni said before turning his back to her and begin to walk away. ô IÆll need you in the Fire Nation capital tomorrow morning.ö

ôWait!ö Yui cried out to him as he got closer to the edge of her realm. ôWho is it? Who are you are looking for?ö

I have already found her I just need you to make sure she is coherent enough to understand the situation.ö He said not pausing for one second as he finally reached the edge of her realm.

And then he was gone.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Princess Azula of the Fire Nation was once a name that inspired fear in the hearts of her enemies, and pride and adoration in the hearts of her future subjects, however if one were to look into her prison cell now they would be hard pressed to recognize her.

Gone was the ambition, the hatred, and the superiority. The very drive that made her Azula had been stripped away leaving only the huddled figure in the corner. She wore no restrictions to prevent her bending because for the three years she had been there she had been incoherent.

Lost somewhere within the depths of her own mind it was only by order of Fire Lord Zuko that she was even alive, she would not eat without assistance. Everyday her care takers would arrive, feed her breakfast, bath her, cloth her in a rough, brown, cotton prison tunic with britches of the same material, and then leave her until lunch, where it would all begin again sans the bath.

Unlike Ozai, who was regularly visited by the Fire Lord, much to OzaiÆs irritation, which was probably why Zuko took the time, Azula received no visitors, she had burned all of her bridges.

So nobody was there to see a shining rift open in the fabric of reality and deposit Yui and Agni into her cramped, but dry and clean, cell right in front of her.

ôThis is her?ö Yui asked.

ôYesö Agni replied his burning eyes dimming somewhat before returning to their normal radiance. ôShe, along with her brother, were blessed with a gift for bending fire to their will like none before them, unfortunately her fatherÆs influence over her was greater then her mothers and it has led her to her own downfall.ö

ôWhat happened?ö Yui asked as she kneeled down to get a better look at her eyes.

ôWhen you try to stand alone you are doomed to fall.ö he said before turning his head to stare out the barred window in the small room.

ôThe damage to her spirit is extensive IÆm not sure IÆll be able to completely heal her.ö

ôYou must. She is the only one that can be spared that is strong enough for what lays ahead.ö

ôAnd what does lay ahead?ö

ôI donÆt know.ö He admitted before returning his gaze to the girl sitting in the corner of the cell. ôCan you do it?ö

Yui heaved a sigh as she looked into AzulaÆs empty eyes before replying. ôI can only try, but I donÆt know how successful IÆll be.ö

ôThen proceed.ö

Yui didnÆt say anything to confirm that she had heard him as she had fallen in a deep trance when she had dived into the girlÆs spirit seeking to undo the damage that had been done to it.

Normally the spirits of humans were known to be quite resilient, and it was hard to actually destroy a soul, Agni himself could only pull it off if he exerted all of his current power, which it should be stated was greater then usual thanks to the imbalance caused by the 100 year war. Human spirits in particular had a nasty habit of repairing themselves over time.

However every now and then something would happen that would stop a human soul from regenerating. Without this regeneration the human mind could easily become brittle and, with just a little push, it could snap and without a fully healed soul they would laps into despondency and would remain so until the block was found and cleared.

In AzulaÆs case it was the simple act of having her world completely turned upside down. She had never been very stable to begin with, but with the betrayal of the her two closest comrades, not really friends as Azula couldnÆt even fully understand such a concept, it was as if the screw that had held everything together had come loose sending her spirit and mind into a whirlwind, nightmare of chaos and anarchy.

Her defeat at the hands of her brother and Katara had only been the finally blow before her body had shut itself down in order to protect it from the sheer stress of it all.

And now it was the Task of Yui the Moon Spirit, former princess of the Northern Water Tribe, to find a way to fix her in a way so as to retain the core essence of who Azula was without destroying her completely.
