Just began watching it, and can honestly say that while it does not measure up to the lofty standards set by its epic feature presentation, it does a good job at entertaining me.

I love Stoick's character and am happy he's getting more screen time. I recommend folks to pick up the series if they want to see something decent after all the current shows are done and dusted. It's quite good.

Be free to tell me what you think of it at days end.

I watched the first episode and the introduction episode of Alvin the Treacherous.

I just can't bring myself to like it. It feels weird. I love the movie, having watched it multiple times, loved the specials, loved the books, played the fuck out of the (crappy) video game, but the series for whatever reason can't draw me in.

I was really disappointed. I was randomly going through the HTTYD wiki page for updates on the sequel when I saw the section for D:RoB and that it was already out and there was lots of episodes out already.

I was extremely excited and found the first episode and was quickly bored. Then I figured, Alvin the Treacherous was pretty nifty in the books, I'll just skip to his episode.

Still boring.

If you go by the movies and specials it's like they took a 5-10 minutes scene and extended it to 2-4 episodes.

It feels like filler.

The premise of the series sounds like filler. There's not much that can be done when the premise is basically slice of life.

I on the other hand like that.
Not everything is the epic quest.

And its not like the day to day episodic escapades of the riders and their world is boring and they seem to tie into each other.

Sometimes. that's good.

I actually like that new girl, Heather, even if it was for only two episodes. She added that nice, sane, balance to Astrid's Amazonian tendencies, even if she DID turn out, you know... to be one of the bad guys.

I was really hoping the "new girl" they had teased at the start of the show would be Camicazi. Especially since it would have introduced the other local Viking tribes. Heather was kind of a let down for me.

Wasn't she used as the basis of Astrid? Also you should really think about changing your sig, it's kinda big.

Supposedly Astrid was based on Camicazi. You know, just without the personality. Or the frizzy hair. Or the same breed of dragon (although they were both named Stormfly). Camicazi would have more in common with Ruffnut than Astrid, really. She's a loudmouthed klepto that likes to insult her adversaries in combat. She's also a skilled enough thief that she stole Stoick's underwear while he was still wearing them. Oh, and her dragon is a mood dragon that changes color with emotion, is a pathological liar 9which is ruined as she turns purple whenever she lies IIRC), and has been taught to speak Norse in addition to dragonese. Camicazi is also the hier to the matriarchal Bog Burglar tribe of Vikings.
