Well, you have Higher Learning. The premise is not that original, even back then, but it stood out due to its length and I guess excellent writing (i.e. good grammar, dialogue, etc).

If you have time you should consume the other Evangelion material that Strike Fiss has done. Be forewarned, the author is an ardent S/A fan. So if you don't like that, I guess u have to stay away.

Children of an Elder God - I think this is THE original Lovecraft/Eva crossover. Written by the Old Guard of Fanfiction, John Biles and Rod M. Its not abandoned - the authors just take a very long time to update.

I think you can find most of the better stories at Darkscribes.

Being an avid reader of eva fanfiction for several years now I'm going to put some of the most obscure, yet some of the most awesome fics I've ever read (all, or most all are sadly discontinued though :blue: ). Also, Zoro50 how could you forget about Chosen? Tsk, tsk.

Longinus a most badass Shinji.

I Knew Him... an interesting look on Shinji and the portrayel of Mana after 3I (completed).

Eternities Wars a truely epic, yet sadly discontinued fic.

hackEVA: Catharsis an interesting, one of a kind EVA/.hack crossover.

Evac I feel evil putting this on since it has only one chapter but it's an interesting premise.

True Angel a truely kickass story of a angel/human hybrid Shinji. Course, it gets somewhat wonky near the end but I liked it especially with the fight scenes.

Raiden X's stories are all great, and his light humour well done.

WDCain's NGE Theater is just plain awesome, read it now if you didn't and Shinji, Soldier of Outer Heaven is pure awesome, MG/NGE crossover ftw anyone and also the only one not discontinued (erratic updates).

Somehow I managed to miss this thread but there are a ton of good Evangelion stories.

Oedipus Ikari

SerialRavist was on it and it is one of my favorites. It is a pretty good story and I liked the way the characters were handled, not to mention the theme was kept pretty solid.

Can't mention Rei/Shinji and forget about the people at 402, namely IO and he is really good. Though Godchild is on hold, it is good enough to warrant a read even if it is never completed.

In the Dark Room

MidnightCereal made up one of the most interesting original characters and made her work exceptionally well. I nearly wanted to ask him could I use the character myself but, since my writing ability pales in comparison, I decided against it. ~_~

Macavity the Mystery Cat (the author of the Morino Ibuki teaches team 7 fic) has updated an NGE fic.

Basically, Misato is late to pick up Shinji after the first angel attack, so Section 2 takes him to his assigned apartment. It's not very long yet, but the writing is good and it has promise.
