“You’ve been replaced, Third,” Asuka smirked.
But despite what she thought, Shinji didn’t throw a fit.
He seemed … relieved?
“Oh, thank you!” Shinji cheered, grabbing her hands.
“… What?” Asuka asked.
“You are now responsible for Misato,” Shinji stated. “Her schedule for food is on the refrigerator, as well as her beer allowances for the days. Laundry times are listed—don’t forget or she’ll wear the same dirty clothes for weeks.”
“I DO NOT!” yelled Misato, as she came upon them.
“Penpen’s schedules are there too,” Shinji said, grabbing a nearby bag. “I’ll go look for a place and have Section 2 bring my stuff over.
“Remember, take care of her, because I AM NOT helping you hide the body!”
“… Wait, what!?” yelled Asuka. She was a pilot! Not a glorified babysitter for an alcoholic superior!
“Get back here, Shinji,” sighed Misato.
“No fair!” Shinji yelled. “She claimed she replaced me, you’re her responsibility now!”
“I am a responsible adult!” Misato yelled.
“The DUI and parking tickets say otherwise,” Shinji muttered.
“I am not watching her!” Asuka yelled at him.
“Too late, you took over my job.
“That was my job.”
“I meant as a pilot!” Asuka yelled back.
“Both of you shut up!” Misato yelled. “No one is replacing anyone!”
Shinji snapped his fingers. “So close to being a carefree teenager…”
“… I am too sober for this shit,” Misato muttered.
“Sorry, not allowed any alcohol for another hour,” Shinji said.
“Who’s the adult here?” Misato snarled.
“According to the chore list, me,” Shinji smirked.
Misato just twitched.
“Yeah, single parenting sucks, huh?” Shinji asked.
“I am not the single parent!” yelled Asuka.
“The lack of a ring on your finger says otherwise,” Shinji replied, wondering which one would storm off first.
Either way, he wasn’t doing their laundry for the rest of the Loop!
