She was quite pleased to be named after a goddess, especially since they justified it with her victory over the 6th angel at sea without the correct equipment.

However, much later she found out that Umberlee was also known as "The Bitch Queen" and was less than pleased, especially when people said it fit.


Does anybody recall what fic had Asuka getting stuck with the call sign "Umberlee"?

Nope, that does not ring any bells...

I have seen stories where they have call signs though...

Asuka was Red Devil, in chapter 4 of Wandering Soul for example.

Rei had the code name "Ice Princess" in chapter 2 of "Beginnings and Endings", where Shinji was taken in by section 2, I do wish that had been continued, as I liked the idea of Misato being portraid in a worse light.

Maybe I'm confused as I've seen several with Rei as "Wondergirl". Maybe she was known as something else.

The main thing was Asuka getting the call sign of "Umberlee" and NOT knowing at the time that Umberlee was "The Bitch Queen", regardless of what the others were called.

The problem, is if 'Wondergirl' is used as a call sign for Rei in a fanfiction, it would be nearly impossible to find because that is in the dub Asuka's name for her. Thus it is extremely common in fan fiction stories to see that written even if it is not her call sign or code name. A quick search yields some 654 stories/chapters it is in just in what I have.

A search of all the NGE stories I have yielded nothing on the name for Asuka you are searching for as her call sign... I've not read nearly all that is out there, but I can say I've not seen it.

kensuke refers to her as a "Kraut Bitch Queen" in one story, but that is not her call sign or code name.

Toji calls her in a different story "Bitch Queen from Hell", again not her call sign or code name.

In yet a different story, Misato calls her in anger a "frigid bitch queen from hell"


So far, the only reference in stuff I've read I've come across to a Umberlee is in a story by BSmart, but it has nothing to do with NGE.

I'm aware of the difficulty in finding the fic where Asuka got nicknamed "Umberlee". If it was at the top of a Google search result I'd have already found it already, as I generally try Google myself before resorting to posting a fic search.

Sorry, I seem to pick the really obscure ones to search for most of the time, as half of them go unanswered. Another quarter of them tend to be fics that were taken down.

Heh... I have a *long* track record of not being able to get answers to my own searches if looking for a specific story. If I'm asking for a category I have more success. I research them pretty good before bothering to post.

This could well have been removed from wherever you might have come across it.

It does not help that I've found two characters that apparently have the name Umberlee. Some sea goddess in one series, and some Forgotten Realms character. no clue how popular either are, since I do not follow either...

FYI Umberlee is the goddess of the ocean, waves, currents and sea winds in the Forgotten Realms. So, she the Sea Goddess.

To quote from the 2nd edition Campaign setting:
The Power: Umberlee the Bitch Queen rules from her watery lair in a flooded level of the Abyss, and controls the oceans, the waves, and
the sea. She is worshiped out of fear as opposed to adoration, and ship crews offer her gems, tossed over the side, to calm the storm-tossed waters. As her name professes, she is evil and chaotic in the extreme.
Umberlee continually contests with Selune, in whom navigators trust to guide their ships safely home. Of late, she has also felt the heavy presence of her own patron, Talos, who is picking up violent nature in all its forms as his personal portfolio. UmberleeÔÇÖs fate, whether she rebels or acquiesces and becomes a servant of Talos, has yet to be resolved.

I believe she did become a servant of Talos in the 3rd edition, but I don't have the appropriate source books as my group broke up shortly before 3rd edition was released. It was implied she was a servant because she was a member of the group called the "Deities of Fury" that was led by Talos, and I know for sure that Auril was Talos's underling.

Hey can anyone find me a link to a story. I've forgotten the name and coulda sworn and have it on my list but its gone. Anyway it had Gendo experiment on Shinji with a peice of Adam and him eventually becoming the grey seed. If you can find it thanks.

Hmmm... a thought, as I cannot recall any offhand though have not searched extensively either... was there any stories where Shinji had a weapon on him such as a sword or gun and used it aganst his father upon meeting him in ep1?

I can recall crossovers, and I can recall ones with special abilities such as either martial arts or because of genetic abilities.

Here is a question... came to me while reading part of the NGE 'Call of Duty' fanfiction story.

I've seen stories where Shinji was pulled from just about everywhere... including varous mercenary groupss. But... has there been one where he was pulled from another military and still reported to that former command... like the U.S. or JDSF/JDSSF...

I'm thinking sort of like in a few of the Innortal loop stories where he was a consultant to the JDSSF and Nerv was attempting to order him...

Um. I *think* I might have read one where Shinji was snapped up for the same program that Kirishima was in. It was a long, long time ago though.

Ok the "Mad Scientist Shinji turning Asuka into a catgirl" is part of the Maho Hentai Shinji stuff on the Addventure. Due to lemony content and laziness, I will not post that link.

The story about Rei being a wolf demon/sorta and followed Shinji cause he fed her meat is one of Zentrodie/Mercaba's more recent endeavors. Well... there is 'True Angel' by Innortal, that is a crossover with Dual Parallel Trouble.

Considering the thread this is, and the last post previous... there was no indication as to what story you were referring to...

True Angel, mentioned in the last post prior to yours was to be rewitten by Innortal but as never done except a enhanced chapter one.

Since no other reference was made, and no author or story was mentioned in full... there was no way to know you meant Arsenal and not True Angel
