Ladies and Gents, I bring you the first new game of our newly regenerated court of degeneracy.

I have chosen to rise to the occasion with that most difficult of arts, a Factions game.

Within this story, you control a single person cast into a strange new world. Among several hundred others. Of these, only a handful of them shall be played by PCs. The rest, will form the flesh of your new group.
It will be up to you, to choose the course of your destiny in this strange new land. As well as to help carve the destiny of all those who came with you. For that they aren't controlled directly by you, they are still people with their own wants and desires. Their own loves, dreams, and hopes. Their own hatred, fears, and lusts.

But, it's time and past that I cast the true net.

Where is this mysterious place you and so many others have found yourselves in? Have I chosen to put you in the Elemental Countries? The northern province of Skyrim? Heaven forbid, did I repeat my past folly and send you to the Moonlit World as I did the last time I attempted this undertaking?

No.

I have chosen to create a new place.

A New World.

Will there be magic and wonder? Magnificent treasures of gold and silver? Fantastic places inhabited by the most beautiful of women and most handsome of men?

Well, of course. That, and far more.

There is an entire world out there, waiting for you to get out and explore it.

Assuming it doesn't kill you first.

For what is a game with out risks?

I am definitely interested. Would we all be ending up in one place or scattered? And if one place, what kind of place is it?

Right, it occurs to me after working on my fancy-pants OP, that I didn't actually say what this thread was for.

Basically, this is an interest check to see who's interested in players, as well as an OOC to hash out issues and answer questions.

To that end, I'll start answering questions that've occured to me, and others.

Q: How does this kind of game even work?

A: Basically, you are all going to start off in a closed circle environment. Which is to say, you'll be isolated from the outside world. There's a few reasons for this. The first, is so everybody doesn't go spilling out in a hundred different directions, and instead are forced to work together to survive, creating a faction.

The second reason for this isolation period, is to give you guys time to develop your characters. Beyond the obvious stuff like leveling up skills, you'll explore the local area, and stuff that'll affect all of you as a group happens.

Thirdly, is that I don't want this game to end prematurely with you all being smashed by outside forces. Pirates, bandits, Adventurers looking for shinies, that sort of thing.

Anyway, you're going to start off in a set place. From there, you'll RP a little, then choose a set of actions for the week. We'll get back to you, and in-game you'll interact with other characters until the next week rolls around. Rinse and repeat, between Events. Events are basically times when you'll be playing real-time. They can be negotiations, battles, weird occurences, interactions with NPCs, or just big events.

As time goes on, we'll probably do bigger timeskips to cover more ground, and level you guys up faster, between Events. This will continue until either you guys break the isolation phase by getting out of the starting area, or at a pre-determined point by me. I'll have you guys discovered by NPCs from outside your zone, and that'll move the game into the next phase.

Outside your little safe zone, there is an entire world. You'll have the opportunity to learn about it through books, or in other ways. What you do with it, is up to you guys. Make peace, fight wars, dominate through trade, explore the wilds, become the greatest of sages. It's all up to you.

Q: Where the hell are we, anyway?

A: In an original sci-fi fantasy that I will be creating as we go along. For the time being, you'll start inside a mysterious facility. Some people already know where I'm drawing my inspiration, but I want to keep some sense of mystery. So, people will have to try and find ways to get outside if they want to find out where in the world they are. That, or they could try and find a window.

This place is kind of... hideously big, though. So that could take awhile.

Q: What about food and water?

A: Those'll be taken care of. I want my players to explore the setting and grow. Not turn into subsistence farmers.

Q: How many players will you allow?

A: As of right now, I'm thinking about doing five. If I can wrangle myself another GM, I might do up to ten.

Name: Mortimer "Morton" Irving

Age: 20

Appearance:

Personality: Boisterous, Friendly, and generally Quirky. Rather knowledgeable and intelligent, though his moments where he displays as such aren't as common as they should be. Very attentive to his surroundings, except when there is something that catches his interest greatly enough to block everything else from his mind entirely. Has a great desire to learn more about anything that catches his interest, though his clumsiness and tendency to get into accidents makes this rather unwise.

History: Because of his joy of learning things that fascinated him, he quickly tried learning as much about how technology worked as he could, until one day while cooped up in front of a computer he glanced out the window by chance and thanks to the gorgeous view discovered the world outside was every bit as interesting as the world behind the screen, leading him into two rather conflicting fields.

Specializations: Technology(General), Exploration(General)

Name:Tristan Wieland

Age: 24ish.

Appearance: Tristan's a scarecrow. He's got long arms and legs and his black hair is prematurely graying. It's a sore spot for him. He's pale generally being completely covered by some clothing and hiding his face under hats.

Personality:Bit scatter minded, enthusiastic, free-spirited and such. Lazy. Underlining Arrogance.

Specializations: Gunsmith(Rifle), Movement(Parkour)

Name: Holden Seacroft

Age: 25

Appearance: Of average height with curly red hair and blue eyes and usually has at least some stubble. He may have lost some tone and definition, but he still has a mostly athletic build. A part of his left arm is scar tissue, up close you can easily guess its from a burn.

Personality: Curiosity may have killed the cat, but not him. When it comes to every day life he cares little about retaining practical knowledge or materialistic things, but craves the next experience. Most of the time he comes off as uncaring, until you catch his interest. Then he will only leave you alone after 'figuring you out'.

History: Coming from a privileged home life, he doesn't exactly know the definition of sacrifice. He wrestled for his college team for three years, "To Test Himself", before quitting. Now a professional chef one of his desires is to never make the same dish twice. Unfortunately for him until he gets his own restaurant that is not going to happen.

Specialization: Wrestling, Cooking.

Name: Maribel Tosh.

Age: 22

Appearance: Tall, brown haired and blue eyed, Maribel is sadly (At least in her opinion) on the slender side, and has been unflatteringly compared with a beanpole before.

Personality: Maribel is what most people call an introvert, and honestly simply took up her major of computer programming because it meant she didn't have to deal with as many people once she had a job. Once you get past her shyness, however, she is a friendly, if timid, person to know.

Specializations: Computer Programming, History.

Name: Mathew Yamakawa

Age: 25

Appearance: Mathew is a second generation Japanese immigrant. He has long blown eyes coupled with blonde hair and pale skin. He is tin and unfit while somehow maintaining good endurance (for someone that does exercise once a month).

Personality: Mister Yamakawa, as he is called at work, is a shy man only coming out of his shell when the discussion turn about games or technology. He has a slight photo-phobia and can't bear the idea of the sun touching his skin in any place other than his head. Slow to make friends he is really loyal to those he befriends.

History:He followed this interests at the beginning by studying Computer Science and been GM at a few events, but the spotlight quickly turned him away. After leaving GMing his grades started suffering and it wasn't until he changed tracks to Game Designing specializing in video games that his output recovered. He hasn't really worked on that field yet as an acquaintance got him a job in translation and adaptation of tabletop RPG games. During College he took interest in his Japanese ancestry and studied Japanese and martial arts, he drifted from art to art until finally setting in ninjustu as it was more about been stealthy than actually fighting and he strongly focus on that aspect of the art.

Specializations: Game Designing, Ninjutsu(Stealth).

Note: Ninjutsu as in the real art of hiding and getting in an out of places without been noticed with some martial arts thrown in, not stuff like Naruto's and the like. Most likely this note isn't needed but I prefer to err on the side of caution.

I'll take a spot if one's open, but given my lack of experience with such things I'll surrender it if someone else really really wants it bad.

I might as well ask.
Well that and get the Proficiencies standardized.
So how do you want our Chara sheets?
Is formatting the Proficiencies like such fine?
Gunsmith(Rifle) and Movement(Parkour)
Or is there any in particular you want.

Hello, my name is Tristan Corbin Wieland, please, call me Tristan. I'm not an old man after all. Though many of my friends consider me one. I'm serving in the military as a sniper.Through which I've taken the chance to learn a weapon in a way few men could. I've become proficient in fixing and enhancing rifles. I can virtually rebuild one from scratch if need be. Hopefully I will never need to, but with my luck I'll end up doing so. I enjoy doing Parkour and roaming about the City. I love learning new things, well those that interest me. I've always wondered if I could do more with myself. I want to be better. To get better at everything I know. To exceed that barrier I know resides there. To crush it beneath my feet as I pass by.

A small introduction to Tristan.

Right, so let's get this started with an example.

Name: Alexia Ross.

Age: 19

Appearance: Tall, blonde, and possessing of mighty scar across half her face, Alexia is a study in contrasts. Her skin is tanned to a golden bronze, her fingers are thin and dextrous, and her arms look capable of ripping of a medium sized dog in two.

Personality: She's very serious person, who doesn't like it when people get in her way. This doesn't mean she's not reasonable, just that pissing her off is a very bad idea.

Here's the neat bit. You can choose up to two unique specializations. These are skills that can be pretty much anything a normal person can be expected to know. However, I will draw the line at bull shit things like 'nano-technology', 'advanced cybernetics', and 'master martial artist'. You can acquire new specializations as the game goes on, but expect higher tier stuff to be harder to reach.

Specializations: Street-fighting, knives.

Right then, that's it. I kind of phoned it in for some of this, so I apologize for that. Feel free to start workin' on your profiles.

EDIT:
I feel the need to clarify something quick. You're not really going to know what's going, when we get started. Essentially, it'll be as if someone kidnapped your character while they were sleeping, and then dropped them off inside a very strange place that they know nothing about, with about five hundred other people.

Another thing to keep in mind, is that this is a sneaking mission game where you'll start with zero items, apart from the clothes you're wearing. Nothing in your pockets. No backpacks you fell asleep wearing. No knives tucked inside boots.

A third thing to clarify, is that my job as the GM is to tell an interesting story, and to make sure you guys have fun with it. During the beginning, NPCs will probably get killed at some point. While PCs have character shields, and I will avoid killing them unless they do something really stupid, you're not going to get coddled. Some things may not go your way, and poor decisions will have consequences.

What can I say? I've been busy. I'm trying to plan ahead at least a little bit, and try to figure out initial group dynamics. I've mostly got the demographics figured out, along with an initial starting point, some lore for it, the first couple of obstacles, a spot on the world map to slap you guys into, and I've recently finished some dice charts.

There many Fun things on the Encounter table.

Also, Bioshock has happened.

EDIT:

Zedalb has announced that he intends to hold a game. It may be really, really petty of me, but I will NOT let him go active first. Expect an OP within the next twenty four hours.

And that, ladies and gents, is the first round of responses.

I'm going to ask that none of you make 'action' posts until I hash out NGD's encounter. That's a pivotal moment in progress, that can change the way the game is going.

Feel free to flesh out your responses to the things that happened and interact with each other, though. Just don't go advancing the plot.
