Beware of Dog. Cat not trustworthy either.
I'm getting community and author alerts, but not story alerts. I have three stories that have updated in the last few days that I haven't gotten e-mails for.

I can confirm this kinda. New chapters don't trigger a mail, new stories from a author do.

Author and story alerts dont work for me unless it is a new story, can not confirm community alerts.

Same for me. I'm getting new story alerts, and at least one new chapter alert, but certain stories that I know updated - nada.

And it is stupidly frustrating when you put an author alert instead of following each single story because, it is so much easier, and this shit happens, because you put them in an author alert and there is no 'option' to see what author updated any story recently in the menu of ffn so if you have doubts then it becomes a task of checking manually all your usual and unusual suspects because it would be your fucking luck that after x time the author you ceased to expect an update... Decides to update when alerts are disabled/not working.

They obviously broke something whilst updating their stupid useless app for Android.
Coincidentally it updated on the 4th of may.

What's New
v6.7:
* Fixed resume to last reading position on some devices
* Improved PM push notifications
* Improved Follow/Downloaded Story Auto-Update notifications

* Reduced app battery usage
* Fixed bugs with Huawei Android 7 devices
* General bug fixes
Well they improved it all right.
Going from a somewhat sporadic alert system,
To nothing at all is a improvement.

well, don't kno if it was a freak accident, coincidence or if it's really fixed, but i dropped a tweet to the admins of FFN and a couple hours later i started to get a couple notifications again.

I hope... I'm getting a Chapter alert for a story at least. But that story was a new story, alerts for new stories still did work. I will wait and see.

Hmmm... experiencing multiple FanFiction.NET issues...

The category direct links on the site are not currently working for me, none of them... they just sit.

Likewise, the author and category ATOM/RSS feeds seem to update, but 95%+ are not actually grabbing content. No error accessing, just not actually updating.

FF.NET access now seems random... though it was not random earlier, as I tried multiple engeines on two browsers

I can now currently access the site using the Webkit engine mode in Lunascape browser, but it still does not work using the FireFox Gecko Engine mode in Lunascape browser.

In Avant browser, in FireFox Gecko engine mode, if I go to the main page, I actually am now being redirected to a generic page noting it cannot find the server. However, in Chrome mode, I can get to the main page.

In IE browser, I can get ot the main page.

RSSOwl, my current ATOM/RSS Feed reader, seems fine again, and is reading FanFiction.NET ATOM Feeds, though not a lot have updated.

It is possible in my case that I need to update the Lunascape and Avant Browsers... my Avant browser is my backup, and has not been update in a few months, but my Lunascape is only slightly out of date, as they released a new version last week, I was current up to then...

My main computer has no access to FFN for either the normal mode or the mobile version with Chrome, but I do have access to it with IE (but I have other issues with IE, so not using it). I can get on the mobile version on my 3DS, though. The page that does show up just has "ERR_SPDY_INADEQUATE_TRANSPORT_SECURITY" at the bottom, but I'm using my main computer on Chrome right now.

Edit (11:57 PM EST) - And now everything seems to be back for me now. I just stayed away from it for a while and it's fixed(?). Weird.

Not fixed, at least not for me. Seems random whether server is generating proper page code or not for me...

Fanfiction.NET seems down for me... I keep getting server 503 errors attempting to get to site, category, or story or author links.

I can seem to get to everywhere else though.

the past couple of days noticed phantom updates where it says a fic is updated, but it really wasn't and a couple of hours later goes back to its old update date.

I've noticed some oddities, but not that, mainly because I do not have any stories or authors flagged for email alert updates.

Instead, I've noticed occasionally upon a supposed update, instead, the story displays *less* chapters than it should.

As an example, there is a story in familiar of zero section, called King of Commoners... as I type this it is at 118... but I've seen it occasionally mysteriously losing 8 or 9 chapters... then a later check getting them back. I doubt indeed the author is removing and replacing them. And that is not the only story I've seen like that.

If that effect is really occurring, I can see that playing havoc with email alerts, since it might interpret such a 'change' as a update.

It looks like FFN is moving to a system where 'last updated' and the like is built as a batch and then pushed at regular intervals- I've noticed a few times now that an author won't have updates when I check, then maybe an hour later check again and they've supposedly updated 6 hours ago. The other option is that they're fiddling with cache settings/timeout/invalidation and fucking it up badly.

My guess is that these oddities are related.

That could be... I've seen signs of something similar, though at least some of those could be a case of 'I missed it and did not realize'.

One I know I did not miss that I just now saw is A Horse for the Force,as I type this site says it supposedly updated 5 hours ago, but I checked it an hour or so ago and it was not there.

Part of the issue for me is there has always been something of a delay between feed updates and site updates... something may show in one before the other. Normally, I find the RSS/ATOM feeds can show a story within 10-15 minutes of actual update though that varies somewhat, the site I've seen take from that to 2 hours.

FYI: FanFiction.NET may be experiencing an upload issue... I only know about it due to fact my brother just attempted to upload a story, and while it posted, and I see it in the feeds, and can even get to the new chapter... the contents look like it is raw, as it is displaying font and formatting commands in the text... He attempted to re-upload, and same issue.

False alarm.. he had some wierd upload issue specific to the chapter... uploading by instead of copy paste, did it by way of submit document.

He does not know why this specific chapter was an issue though.

Apparently spoke too soon... according to him... he has had problems with the review system today, and while the alert system has to be at least partially up, he told me he did not get the email for his own story having updated.

I can confirm this. My favorites did update, but no email for this. I get sproadic emails for some, but there is still a chunk missing. Also ffnet is very slow at times.

Getting very slow response times going to FF.NET category links, almost where I was expecting it to time out... This also is being reflected in the RSS/ATOM feed system, it is all much slower than normal.

Not normal behavior for 5am EST on a Sunday...
