What the title says. The front page announcement doesn't say why, and I'm not in the mood right now to wade through the forums in search of the reason.

I can't say that I'm saddened to see it gone ('cause I'm, uh, not), but seeing one of the larger fanfiction repositories on the Web shuttering its doors is always a little unpleasant. Never mind that the stories there mostly aren't very good--the same can be said for FFN, Mediaminer, or any other hosting site.

There's always the possibility of an 11th-hour reprieve or that this entire thing is a hoax, but who knows?

Hmmm... while I've never heard of the site before now, and have no links to it. I can say that has the most annoying advertizing I've ever seen, transparent over the middle of the main page covering the words. I had to block copy the text behind it into the clipboard, and paste into my text editor just to read it.

It's a somewhat unusual site, but I'm honestly not that surprised they're shutting down. The costs for running the servers based on something that elaborate would be pretty damn crazy, particularly with all those images and scripts. So much customisation isn't particularly a good thing...

And eh... trying to browse through the place would be bloody horrible. The formatting of the site is a bit overwhelming on the eyes.
