Inspired by these two pictures:

In a world of space Colonies and abundant Resources the Mobile Suit reigns supreme. However with such abundant resources wars could go on for years and thus a Tournament for the position of chairman of *insert name of U.N like organization but actually effective here* was implemented where each region would pool its resources into one single Mobile Suit, Gundam. Each region was at random given a specific template for the design of their Gundam and then left to build on it from there with what have become known commonly as the seven basic Classes.

Archer: Master of ranged combat and sniping.

Assassin: Most other contestants never seen their death coming when Assassin sets its sights on them. Equipped typically with advanced cloaking and ECM systems along with a select few powerful weapons allowing it to pick off the exhausted survivors of other battles.

Berserker: Brute power and armor are the common abilties of this template with the tradeoff being that the system that gives them such strength also has psychological side effects that leave the pilot unmindful of the damage they have taken or the subtle tactics of their opponent that may be leading them into a trap.

Caster: The literal "Glass Cannon" whereas Archer has some semblance of resiliency the Caster template forgoes this for overwhelming firepower and esoteric gadgets.

Lancer: A Nimble Melee fighter with devastating close combat abilties and blistering speed.

Rider: a Misnomer as typically one is already "Riding" a Mobile Suit however after one tournament in which this class had a secondary Mobile Armor in the shape of a boar that they mounted the name stuck and most Riders since have had some sort of "mount" that increases their abilities and power. The rider class however is most known for it's versatility have a wide range of abilities that while useful make it a jack of all trades but master of none.

Saber: Seen as the most powerful of templates by far this class Focuses on a fine balance of power, speed and durability typically allowing it to dodge what it can't simply tank while brushing off weaker attacks and having the power to generally kill most any other class quickly.

As time went on though a mere human could no longer control one of these machines by themselves and Bioroids, organic androids that at first glance appear human but with far greater capabilities, were included as part of the design with a master called a Tuner assigned instead who were generally selected for their aptitude and ingenuity when it came to mobilesuits. Generally though these talented masters were selected in secret and their names never released to the public for fear of retaliation against them.

The preparations for another tournament had been completed for the most part and it was already under way with people around the Earth-Sphere watching eagerly. The Side 3 Colony Group which while having nominal entry in the tournament had been devastated by the previous tournament and was still recovering didn't have the resources available to field a machine despite the fact that it had drawn the template for the powerful Saber Class Gundam. This demoralizing news was kept secret from the general public so when the Saber Gundam made its debut amidst a ongoing duel between the Archer and Lancer which had made its way into the interior of the Fuyuki colony it was met with great cheers by the public but also great confusion and trepidation by the government for many recognized the Gundam as the machine from the last tournament which had devastated much of the Side 3 colony group.

For Emiya Shirou this was both a dream come true after hearing the stories of his adopted father Kiritsugu about the previous tournament and terrifying beyond all belief as he dealt with life or death battles across space, colonies and earth, to places he had never dreamed he would go but now towered over fighting duels to the death with a cold and perplexing bioroid at his side piloting a machine of what was to many unimaginable power.

.....

So basically Fate/Stay Night, G Gundam and the general philosophy and style of Kill'em all Tomino from the general UC-verse where the Fuyuki disaster has gone from a mere fire to a Colony destroying extravaganza. Several colonies as a matter of fact. :rip1:

Shaken, not stirred.

I figured "Rider" would transformable Mobile Suits, like the Zeta Gundam and its Wave Rider form.

Also, what exactly is the "prize" for winning this tournament? I see no mention of a Grail or, well, any reward for the winner.

Well that's why I posted this here. One I can't think of everything and two hopefully someone with actual writing skill will pick this up. On the matter of prize:

However with such abundant resources wars could go on for years and thus a Tournament for the position of chairman of *insert name of U.N like organization but actually effective here*

Basically, It's a fight between nations/factions similar to G Gundam with the winner having nominal control over the policy of all the nations for a set amount of time until the next tournament as the chairman of *whatever its called* organization.
