Aren't prequels technically all filler anyways? If someone cared about the Fate/Stay Night series, wouldn't all the overarching events for Fate/Zero already be known?
I imagine there were a lot of things in Fate/Zero that weren't revealed in Fate/Stay Night itself.

That's what usually happens with prequels - they reveal things that happened in the past compared to the first piece, including events that didn't get mentioned or weren't elaborated on enough to fully understand.

Especially since the largest source for our knowledge of the Fourth Holy Grail War, before Fate/Zero, was Kotomine Kirei.

Rejoice, fans! Your wish for more details has been granted.

Kirei and Saber, yeah. Saber didn't say much other than a few lines to the effect of "Man, Shirou, your dad was a giant asshole."

Episode 20 came out a couple days ago.

Byakuya Kuchiki voices Lancelot. -_-
And does a really good job, too.

Poor Maiya. I really doubt that Rider really needed to kill her to successfully abduct Irisveil; one cut with his sword, and her gun would have been in two pieces and he could easily grab Irisveil to carry her off while smacking away Maiya barehanded.

Who is to say that he didn't do exactly that? How the hell was he supposed to know the lady couldn't take a hit?

He's a heroic spirit. Maiya is, or was, mortal. Of course she couldn't take a hit.

Just watched Episode 23.

Delighted with the Gilgamesh v. Iskandar battle, in particular its conclusion. Felt bad for Arturia or whatever her true name is (seriously, is it Arturia, Artoria, or Arthuria?), though it's not enough to change my opinion that Prototype Saber is a cooler character based on the short glimpse that we got in the OVA.

Kiritsugu just gets no good options goddamn. Even knowing that this is how it went down from the beginning, its still sad.

Just so everyone knows, Fate/Zero is getting dubbed into English.

Here's my personal thoughts on it.

Aniplex of America has announced that they're going to dub Fate/Zero.? Interestingly enough, they announced it JUST after some groups finally finished subbing the anime.? Go figure.

On top of that, they got back some of the English VAs from FSN to voice in Fate/Zero.

Sadly, they didn't get either voice of Saber (Kate Higgins or Michelle Ruff)

And they changed some of the voices around that they did get back.

Returning from English FSN are the following...

Liam O'Brien who voiced EMIYA in FSN
Grant George who voiced Gilgamesh in FSN
Doug Erholtz who voiced Shinji Matou in FSN
Jamieson Price who voiced Kirei Kotomine in FSN, he also voiced Lord Genome in TTGL.
Patrick SEITZ who voiced Soichirou Kuzuki in FSN
David Vincent who voiced Sasaki in FSN

Sadly, they moved both Gilgamesh and Kirei's VAs onto other characters...

But I can live with those changes.

Anyway, here's the list of characters and who's voicing them.

Kariya Matou - Liam O'Brien
Lancer - Grant George
Rider - Jamieson Price
Assassin - Patrick SEITZ
Kayneth El-Melloi Archibald - Doug Erholtz
Gilgamesh - David Vincent

So, yeah, those of you who hate Shinji should take solace in the fact that he's going to die in Fate/Zero.

Here's the rest of the list if you're curious.

Saber - Kari Wahlgren (best known for Sakura Kinomoto, Fuu from Samurai Champloo, Haruka from FLCL, and Kagami from Lucky Star)
Kirei Kotomine - Crispin Freeman (best known for Alucard from Hellsing, Zelgadis from Slayers and Straight Cougar from s-CRY-ed)
Kiritsugu Emiya - Matthew Mercer (best known for Tygra in the 2011 Thundercats)
Irisviel - Bridget Hoffman (Best known as Belldandy from Ah My Goddess)
Waver Velvet - Lucian Dodge (Hasn't had any major roles)
Tokiomi Tohsaka - Marc Diraison (voiced Leo Shishio on GaoGaiGar)
Ryuunosuke - Johnny Young Bosch (Adam from power Rangers, voices Ichigo on Bleach and Lelouch from Code Geass)
Caster - Dan Woren (best known for his role as Byakuya from Bleach)
Berserker - Kyle Herbert (Adult Gohan and Kamina)

I find it interesting that the second voice for Saber (UBW movie) is Michelle Ruff, who voices Rukia from Bleach, who is Byakuya's sister.? Gives Caster's lusting after Saber a whole new meaning.

I hate dubbed anime, but it's funny. The Japanese VA for Byakuya is Lancelot in F/Zero. Saber just can't escape Byakuya, it seems.

I noticed that they try to keep Artoria as saber. THeir is a new Fate stay night comic or something where in california they are trying to recreate the holy grail war, but they lost the Saber template. In fate Extra red clad artoria Saber. Seroiusly can't they at least have one other Saber class character would it really hurt.

I know this is probaly not the best place to put this coment but their is no general fate stay thread about the original series and it has to do with Saber in General.

They do. Extra Saber is technically Nero, though yeah, Artoria Clone. But we also have Gawain as an enemy Saber. Apocrypha has Mordred, who's literally Saber Clone, but also Siegfried as Saber of Black. Sakura Saber, who's only shown up in Koha-Ace is Okita Souji. Though, I suppose Koha-Ace doesn't really count. Also, still King Arthur, but Prototype had a male version.

Yeah, Saber Clones are common enough to be a running gag even among Type Moon, but they aren't the only Sabers there are either.

Takeuchi was cursed by a gypsy; if the design of the "Saber" changes from the fundamental template, his right hand will explode.

Takeuchi is actually a mastermind who endured hardship to carve out a perfect niche.

Nasu: Takeuchi-kun was amazing. For a while I was living as a freeloader at his place. I'd see him off to work in the morning, he'd work late, come home, and then would work on Tsukihime for about five hours before going back to work the next morning. We really were an 'All-Nighter Company'.

[...]

Although at first I didn't feel like turning stay night into a game. It was 2000. We'd just gotten back from Winter Comiket, where we'd sold Tsukihime. We went to Kamata and dined on curry. In between mouthfuls of food, Takeuchi told me, "Well Nasu-san, the next thing for us to make into a game and sell will be stay night." That was something he'd been telling me for a while. At the time, I had no desire to go back and restructure something I'd already given up on, and Takeuchi's suggestion "You should turn Saber into a girl" made me wonder what the heck he was thinking.

Shortly after that, I was headed back towards Chiba on an airplane from Narita airport, and I got to thinking about a new version of the story. I called Takeuchi on the phone and said [This might work. Let's give it a shot.] After that, I began to work on producing a different version of stay night.
The man drew Nasu into his debt and then planted the idea of Seiba into his head. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he slipped earphones onto a sleeping Nasu and played hypnotic induction tapes involving petite blonde ahoge girls. Now he has a job where he can just draw his waifu in different cosplay over and over all day. Keikaku doori, indeed.
