In short, I am looking for a crossover where Ranma learns FMA alchemy, doesn't matter which version of the alchemy in that series, though.

Could anyone recommend any good ones?

I started one. But it is abandoned.

Beware, I wrote that FIVE YEARS AGO, so it's crappier than my normal stuff.

I suppose I could revisit it, but meh - I'm just not motivated to write much about anything lately.

A pity, as it is some of your older abandoned stuff (not this particular one though) that is the first stuff of yours I read, and what drew me to your writing to begin with. Titles like 'Gainax Gumbo', 'What Kind of Sickness is This', 'A Cold Dish', 'Healing Time', 'Half Metal Panic', 'Nibunnoichi! GXP', 'An Unfamiliar Position', and 'Wild Kaitou'.

Now... you do have works more recently updated I've been following, and for that I'm grateful. But that does not mean I would not mind seeing updates to some of the above (particularly 'Half Metal Panic' and 'Nibunnoichi! GXP'). Or a rewrite, if you did not like them, since I agree you've improved.

Oh well...

Any other suggestions?

Or better yet, links to stories crossing Ranma and Full Metal Alchemist?

EDIT: Or do I have to start thinking one up myself? :evil2:

other then that one i know of about 2 ranma fma crosses but they where short so i didnt fav them ill look and see if i can find'em for you.

one featured ranma suddenly collapsing while 'voluntarily' helping kasumi shopping his arm fades away they get transported to amestris and somehow i cant remember mustang shows up and says that kasumi is under arrest for human transmutation citing ranma's missing arm as proof and kasumi started having a panic attack it kinda sucked so i wont link it if i find it unless you ask.

wait nvm ill just make a list of all the ones i find i keep forgetting the whole 'everyone has diffrent taste's' thing keep in mind im posting all the ones i find im not really screening them ill make sure they dont have yoai or anything but thats it so read it own risk ill edit them in as i find them.

1.Oh my God Ranma!(warning semiwall of textish)
2.The Black Ice Alchemist(i havent actually read these one's found them by accident just now.)
3.Fullmetal Ranma
4.Full Metal Alchemist: Blade Edge

im pretty sure there where some more but i cant seem to find them sorry.

The effort is appreciated.

Though, and I'm sure my readers will be very frustrated with me for this, I think I'll start a crossover of my own rather than wait patiently for an entertaining one to show up.

Does anyone remember an Anime Addventure thread where Usagi looses the silver crystal? I think Ranma somehow ends up with it. I've looked, but can't find it!

Just so happens.. wait.. I dont remember any Anime Adventure thread. But what I do remember is a fic on ffn where Ranma ends up with the Crystal because he's Queen Serenity Reborn.

Pretty good story actually has flash back sequences involving starships doin battle etc. Okay that sounds like a gay summary but srsly I remember liking it. Really. Read it!

I think I know which one you mean. It's the one where Ranma swallows the Silver Crystal. I'll have to check.

You should add that "Ranma" is more or less killed and replaced with a female OC named Ranma in that story.

You should add that "Ranma" gets a few thousend years of life as Queen Serenity showed into his head and holds it back remarkably long in that story.
Fixed.

You should add that "Ranma" gets a few thousand years of life as Queen Serenity showed into his head, which is the plot device that results in him being replaced by a female Mary Sue OC in that story.

Fixed.

Edit: Not to mention, Queen Serenity somehow being more the 'true master' of the Silver Crystal than Usagi is fairly ludicrous in and of itself....Usagi's connection with the Silver Crystal was implied to have been much better than her mother's, and she may, in fact, be the only one who can use it to its full potential. <_<

And Luthorne. It may not be canon Sailor Moon but having a slip of a girl like Usagi mastering the Silver Crystal better than the woman who made it and had a couple of thousand years of experience? Not happening.

Dunno about that story, since I quickly realized that Ranma was yet again being replaced by a female OC, so quit reading it, but in Sailor Moon canon, Queen Serenity was not the one that made the Silver Crystal...like all Sailor Crystals (which the Silver Crystal was...Usagi's, to be specific...), it came from the Galaxy Cauldron.

And I think you must have a vastly different definition of the term 'character development' than I do.

Wait, so if I had some magical item, I could turn Kasumi Tendo into a Golgo 13 clone and claim it's "character development" ?

Awesome!

Apparently so. Why, if you used some device to overwrite ninety percent of Nabiki's personality with a copy of Kuno's, that would apparently be yet more character development!

What is this referring to? I've become confused.

Also what makes a Mary Sue? I mean I've heard that it is when a character is "perfect", but does this just refer to personality? Or do they have to be god-modded also?

(I'm still trying to write my very first story. I am trying to avoid this in anything I write by making clear personality defects in any character I write, as well as keeping limitations in mind for every sort of power from the beginning, rather than slapping it on later.)

Edit: Additionally, how can someone grow as a person without eventually becoming Mary Sue?

If you're really interested...

Wikipedia article - Mary Sue
TV Tropes article - Mary Sue
TV Tropes article - Common Mary Sue Traits
TV Tropes article - Mary Sue Tropes

...if I was to sum it up myself...I would say that it could be summed as...the character is never wrong in any major way, and often rarely wrong in any minor way. Any action they take is ultimately for the best, and things that don't turn out for the best is usually because people foolishly didn't listen to them. They are the center of events, often blatantly so, the focal point in regards to everything...in short, people are incapable of solving their problems (at least correctly) without their help, whether that comes in the form of advice or more blatant exercises of power. They are better than the rest of the characters, whether that comes in the form of moral fiber, common sense, intelligence, wisdom, charisma, or simply power levels. All of their enemies are horrible people, and any that can be sympathized with will typically be drawn back to the correct side...ie, that of the Mary Sue.

Admittedly, this is an extreme case, but...that is something of the general gist.

Edit: The easiest way to make sure that character growth doesn't wind up making someone a Mary Sue is to let other people grow along side of them, giving them their own time in the spotlight, giving them important situations that they can solve, and the main character can't...and not making it minor, preferably. Throw in errors of judgment that have real, long-term effects. And, above all, don't try to give the main character some sort of moral or intellectual superiority over every single other character...where the main character is the only person who can see what needs to be done, for example, and everyone else is self-evidently either a fool or blind for not realizing it.

I think the most common and most annoying trait of a Mary Sue is that nobody reacts realistically towards them, instead EVERYBODY likes them and sees everything the Mary Sue does in a positive light.

Example:

A character acts like a total asshole, but instead of the other characters being disgusted or angry with him/her for this behaviour, they think it's refreshing and brave.

That's really the thing that annoys me the most: If some character has a mystical friend-ray ability which instantly turns every other member of a series into their friend. And then no matter what they do or say, nobody will think bad of them, they'll even applaud them if they humiliate/beat up/rape/kill some other character.

An example that is pretty common in Ranma lemons:

Ryoga rapes Ranma-chan and turns her into his sex-slave. The other characters then tell him what a great service he has done the whole world, since Ranma was after all a misogynistic bastard and he had it coming.

Another example that is common in Ranma fics:

Ranma gets fed up with everything and leaves. Then he runs across some other cast of characters from some other series (Sailor Moon, Tenchi Muyo, Rugrats, whatever) and tells them his life story. They instantly feel sorry for him and everybody becomes Ranma's friend. Then Ranma decides to go back to Nerima and punish the people who made his life hell. His new friends accompany him and cheer him on as he rapes/kills/beats the snot out of everybody.

And that's really what I think is the most crucial thing about a Mary Sue.

It doesn't matter if the character is seemingly perfect or totally overpowered. As long as the other members still dislike the character in question and get annoyed with him/her, it's not a Mary Sue.

Given the general title of this topic, could anyone point me towards a good Ranma/Dragon Half crossover?
