Title: Oasis in the Desert
Author: Director of Operations

Premise: During one of Keitaro's stints at running away, he goes all the way to Vegas instead. One thing leads to another, and he ends up winning a casino, and drunkenly marrying Naru, Kitsune, and Mutsumi. Kanako and Granny show up, Kanako rents a mecha, and way back in Hinata House, Motoko is hanging the younger kids up on hangers to keep them from following after Keitaro. That's all I can remember.

This story used to be on FF.net, but the author went the way of the dodo years ago. I think the fic was up for adoption, but nothing ever came of it, and this was well before I started routinely archiving fics I like.

Anyone got a copy they can send me?

Why would you want it, sounds dreadful.

In any case, I've not read that one, so I do not have it.

On the other hand, I read a different one that was an AU, where he while in America, ran across Haruka, fell in love, got married. Hina showed up and had a cow. That was 'Unholy Union' by Niklas Hawk Jonsson. That was not bad, wish he would continue.

The summarization does make it sound horrible, yes. But the writing style by far made up for it. For instance, when the 'happy foursome' watch the wedding video, it turns out that Kei was reluctant, and it was a drunken Naru dragging him up the altar saying, "C'mon, you know you want to..."

Beyond that, it really was the writing style that made it a blast... and now it's gone... *sigh*

Err...*sheepishly raises hand* I'm actually the one who wrote that. It was my first attempt, and it was a pretty bad steaming pile of horridness, (even moreso than the stuff I've posted here) which is why i not only took it off ff.net, but deleted the thing from my hard drive. I don't know if anyone else would have it, but it's unlikely considering the author tossed it long ago.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Damn. That stinks. As to whether it was horrid or not, I really couldn't say, as my taste in fiction has changed a great deal since then, but I thought it would be great to reread anyway. The mocking of the various economic principles was fantastic from what I remember.
