Fire Emblem Fates

Eh, we did it with Awakening, so may as well make a topic entirely for Fates then.

And just to make it relevant, here is my castle address:

18394-57694-68243-85904

My place has peaches and amber. I'm on Phoenix mode because I want story first before I go into the harder stuff and, like I said in another topic, I don't have the Special Edition of the game so I bought Birthright physically and Conquest tacked on as soon as I could buy it.

Currently I'm on chapter 10, but using the free DLC for grinding both exp and (castle) materials.

Hard Classic Birthright for me, but I actually have a special edition. I'll make sure to post a bunch of Revelations spoilers for you!

I actually only just got into the main part of the game. Hard Mode is actually hard, and I spent a bunch of hours fiddling with chapters 4 and 5 to properly keep everyone alive and with experience.

Word of advice: use the hidden weapon characters. The status effects and debuffs can literally turn an encounter from nigh impossible to merely frustrating.

You mean someone like Felicia or Kaze huh? Well as soon as you get the free DLC, the pebble the DLC gives drops opponents Str/Spd/Def/Res by 4 points. Sure it does crap damage (Mt 1 non upgraded), no double attacks, unable to use (offensive) skills and the same accuracy as a steel shuriken (all daggers has 5 more to hit rate compared to shuriken) but it does a damn good job for someone else (or two) to do the job.

In terms of the hidden weapons (that I have) so far for debuffs and other noteworthy effects:

Bronze: inflicts -1 Skl/Spd , -2 Def/Res on enemies. You can't crit or use skills, but gain a +10 to Avo. Most likely to be used in the beginning as you shouldn't have anyone with offensive skills yet and the Avo is ideal for a ranged unit.
Iron: inflicts -2 Mag, -3 Def/Res on enemies. Best against mages.
Steel: -3 Str, -4 Def/Res on enemies. -3 speed when it comes to double attacking. Good on the slow tanks.
Pebble: already mentioned above.
Kagero's Dart: -5 Skill, -3 Def/Res on enemies. Same damage and hit rate as a pebble without the other problems and +20 to Avo. If you can get more of these, then you get a good weapon to upgrade.
Hair Pin: -2 Str, -3 Def/Res on enemies. Women only. slightly more damage than an Iron Shuriken, but the same hit rate as a Steel one.

Also I'm glad that all weapons from both nations are interchangable as giving Felicia the Hoshiden healing rods help against getting hit by ranged units.

Normal/Classic on both routes right now (don't have SE so no Revelations yet.)

Such a drastic difference in difficulty between the two paths it's kind of hilarious. I like to think of it as Hoshido just being that badass a nation: You side with them and steamroll all your opposition; you side with Nohr and you have to fight the Hoshidan juggernaut.

Still a little weird to not be worrying about durability.

Hard/Classic on Nohr loving the difficulty so far and my castle code is

00381-66518-44925-32290

have managed to find a few good skills and such from others and it's an easy seize for win none of my troops move visit if you can please.

also Niles is a very decent archer if you get a little lucky with his str and mag thanks to the shining bow being range 1-2

Huh, I must have visited you before Silverback354. I should edit mines to do the same later on..

That aside, I learned that Felicia can't use a Master Seal...huh, guess that means a Maid is a promoted class.

Also learned that when switching a character's class to whatever they can change into, as long as they are level ten for the basic classes (15 for promoted), they can just level up twice to learn the two skills before changing classes or being promoted. Considering that, unlike Awakening, we don't go back to being level 1 on a class change, let alone the fact that unless you go to another castle, you get a limited amount of Heart Seals...yeah I fucked most of my characters up big time.

...So glad I'm playing on Phoenix mode as this just makes things more challenging when I side with the Nohr on the next playthrough. So much decisions to make.

...okay, updated my castle, you should be able to quickly seize from the sides of My Castle.

As a side note, my Main character has gained Aptitude and (of lesser importance) Profiteer so my castle should be a good choice for the MC's. Mozu is also in there and she has Profiteer, Replicate (a surprising must have IMO) and Luna as extra skills. No I did not marry my MC with Mozu. I just raided a few castles that gave me those skills.

Uh, how did you gain aptitude? Isnt it just restricted to the villager class? From what I read the only way to get that is to hack it or from someone who hacked it.

Also for ppl with birthright, what do you think the best bane/boon combination is? I think i screwed mine up and i picked oni savage as my secondary class because i read somewhere that you can't get that class unless you marry rinkah. Problem is, said article never told me I would not have access to most of the Nohr classes, so Sol and Lifetaker were unavailable to me normally. Good thing i found some avatars that had them with the online function. I do like how you can buy skills now from ppl. Anyone got galeforce already? It seems that you can only get that skill by buying ALL routes to get the 2 ebon wings and buying that dlc royale royale.

P.S. Does anyone know for the royale royale dlc, if you're limited to the hoshido or nohr siblings depending on whether you're on birthright or conquest route?

Yup! They're a troubadour promote. Jakob and Felicia have been "hacked" to treat their class as a base class though.

--you get a limited amount of Heart Seals
Upgrade the Rod Shop to level 3.

Most efficient level strategy is "Main class to 18, secondary class for 19 and 20, then promote". You can alter this based on who your character has married and whether you want someone to get stats provided by their secondary class. EX: My Azura won't be going back to Dancer until after she's had some time as a Sky Knight and its promotions.

-my Main character has gained Aptitude

AWESOME! I'll save that for my Conquest playthrough though.

-Anyone got galeforce already? It seems that you can only get that skill by buying ALL routes to get the 2 ebon wings and buying that dlc royale royale.

I've got the class items but you need to be level 35 (!) before you can get Galeforce.

-- P.S. Does anyone know for the royale royale dlc, if you're limited to the hoshido or nohr siblings depending on whether you're on birthright or conquest route?

Should be route agnostic, but the DLC's not out for almost a month.

So I guess the only way for my Hoshido Avatar to get galeforce is to find another Avatar who has it and beat them then buy the skill. Ah well, thanks for answering my questions watashiwa.

I'm thinking of using the friendship seal on my Avatar so i can switch to Samurai to get duelist blow and the next skill then go back to my secondary class to get the next couple of skills and decide which else i want. Is that super ineffecient if i want to have as many skills as I want?

Nah, if you get a support to A with another character of similar gender to your avatar, you can reclass to their BASE class. Remember that... i was stupid enough to think that if i reclass Silar to Mercenary then i could reclass as a mercenary.....

Well the DLC for the EXP grinding and the beach one is out now and I tried out the EXP one so far.

You fight level 9-15 (I think there were two boss ones at 16 near the end) Faceless who run all the way to the top where they vanish. (trying to block them from leaving requires about 6 or so people with high move rates or flying) There were two rock throwing guys (can't remember its name ATM) when they manage to hit you, stops that character from moving for one turn, which makes those who are pairing up people a poor choice with those who have bad Spd or unlucky enough to get hit. Some may come towards you to attack on what I assume if you can't hit back in melee range like an archer or if you have some characters with low Def. A level 15 can hit for about 20 HP if you have 10 Def.

Having a Guard Naginata or any other weapon with decent defense is key if you're going to attempt to block them, otherwise have high Spd, decent Skill/Hit and ranged weaponry and nip them at their heels as you chase after them.

Forgot to add: Some of the places you can stop at are poisonous.

Edit #2: Nevermind blocking them, they have the Pass Skill.

The grinding DLC matches itself to your level. The stronger you get the stronger they're going to get in turn. This means you'll always have a level appropriate challenge, but it also means that you won't have an easy time of it.

The Beach Brawl map is actually hilarious. Comedy gold all the way through, and it's a solid tactical challenge. You need to pick a sibling, then use that royal and their retainers to fight your way through the other seven royals.

Double posting for the win!

Crashed hard into chapter 14 because I kept advancing units too far and the promoted units on the map ate them. I solved the problem by dropping ninjas next to my bait units, which effectively gives me a free round of stat debuffing without putting my squishy guys in danger.

After that, the map was just a matter of positioning my tanks properly. I only had to use Scarlet a few times. Corrin also hit level 20; guess it's time to for him to rock the Hoshidan Noble look. Probably Heart Seal him to Hero or Bow Knight to pick up some extra skills.

Apparently one of my recent calling cards I use for rescources is 'dead' now. A Conquest player named Kim and that person has no address anymore. Anyone else gotten that before?

Also I have Replicate (and Rend Heaven which can be considered as pretty good with its Skill x 1.5 percentage rate) for my Avatar now. I should be updating my team...now. Replicate is fucking awesome as not only you can fight with a clone, it can pair up with other units. Downside is that you get damaged if the copy does so either keep a healer near the copy or the original.

Also, I'm giving out bath towels for the heck of it sooner or later.

armedlord: The player has probably deleted the character. I imagine that castle addresses are like trainer IDs in Pokemon. No trainer, no ID; no Avatar, no My Castle.

I grabbed Sol, Salvage Blow and Profiteer from you and Thardoc in the first week. Keep Aptitude on, I'll be grabbing that once I start Conquest.

Great, how long do I have to keep it on then? Course I'm going to start to grind skills for Azura, Felicia, Silas, Mozu, Kaze, and Jakob since I know they are in Conquest from visiting those who have them.

Oh, I spotted one of my visitors with a Silas having a Aptitude on him. Time to get it.

Stardew Valley? Good thing is that it's not portable (or not having a laptop) else I'd be torn between that and Fire Emblem.

Edit:If you fight in someone else's My Castle, you can gain an an ore or food item by walking over the areas where you can get them normally. Nice to know.

Also about to get Kaze an Aptitude on him as well.

Edit # 2: I've found a My Castle with all the food/ores to give. I like to call hax on it at the sheer amount of stuff that this person has.

Soooo the furry extermination map was easy, the Palace of Pleasure was harder but pretty easy once I started keeping archers away from the mounted units and mages away from my heavy armor, and the ice map wasn't too bad once I stopped being stupid about rushing. I've moved on to the map Leo, which I expect will be heart-rending.

Thanks again for the skills, Sol is activating fairly regularly and while it's not life-saving it's been real nice to have.

I just got Sango, a Bond unit with Watashiwa. His unique skill is 'Pyrotechnics', where if his health is at 50% or less and he chooses to attack, any foes near two spaces loses 20% HP. Most likely to be used as a suicide unit I suppose.

I always find it hard to match my army properly to get the best stats for the children. I'm still debatting who to pair up with who. I'm kinda sad that I will miss out on a child if I pair my Avatar with any woman other than the maid and scarlet.

Actually, you still miss out on a child if you pair Felicia with anyone. Your options are the Corrin-sexuals--Reina and Scarlet. Personally I suggest leaving Hinata, Kaze or Silas forever alone, the latter two join on all routes so you can alternate between when they get kids, and the first has a child who's not very interesting.

Alternatively, you can fail to A rank Kaze by chapter 15 and lose him for story reasons like I did. Pure bullshit, but it balanced out my gender ratio. Marrying Azura as soon as I've seen Scarlet's S-support.
