Akamatsuverse Forsaken Hina

#1
Way back in the day when TFF was first founded, I'd begun work on a pair of Love Hina fics prominently featuring the undead. The first, a crossover with Urban Dead, got off to a slow start and died after a computer crash wiped my files. The second, a crossover with Warcraft I had tentatively titled Forsaken Hina, never really got stared at all.

Now, by popular demand (read: by like one guy), and because I've recently started playing WoW again, I'm getting back to work on Forsaken Hina. Granted, with my current computer troubles I can't do major work on any of my fics right now, but at least I can get some input, write at home, and post things when my computer is fixed. Therefore, let's get a run down on the general idea:

After a series of mishaps involving the Cursed Annex, Keitaro and Naru finally confess their feelings to each other, breakig the curse and causing the annex to crumble. Unknown to the Hinata House gang, however, the annex's destruction causes a wave of magical energy to lash through the Twisting Nether, attracting the attention of the Burning Legion and the major powers of Azeroth. Some weeks later, the Burning Legion invades the Hinata House in an attempt to seize the annex's ruins and shape the now-unbound magical energies there into a portal through which they can invade Earth. Motoko and Tsuruko's Shinmei Ryu demon slaying arts hold off the initial assault, and before they can be overwhelmed by the second wave reinforcements arrive in the form of a oddball bunch of Forsaken under orders from Sylvanas to seize the ruins for her own purposes. The battle leaves the annex's magic sealed and portals back to Azeroth temporarily closed, stranding a small collection of Forsaken Undead at the Hinata House for a few months. And when the portals reopen...

Love Hina timeline: Set during volume 13, chapter 107. Tsuruko has just arrived to congratulate Motoko for getting into Tokyo University, and the Hinata House gang is attempting to prevent Tsuruko from finding out that Motoko is actually a fist-year ronin now. This means that the entire Love Hina cast, minus Seta, Nyamo and Hina, are at the Hinata Sou (including Kanako, Sarah and Tsuruko, at least for a time), the Molmol visit arc hasn't occurred yet (and thus Haruka and Seta aren't married), and Motoko still has long hair.

WoW timeline: Directly post-TBC. The Dark Portal has opened and the Alliance and Horde are storming Outland, but Illidan hasn't been defeated, the whole Sunwell arc hasn't occurred yet, Arthas is still napping, Varimathras hasn't carried out his betrayal, the Royal Apothecary Society and Putress are still making the New Plague and the Blood Elves are still using the Naa'ru as batteries. The battle against Naxxramas is entering it's final stages, and thus Sylvanas and the Forsaken have no one to spare from the Plaguelands except:

The Forsaken Skullguard: A ragtag association of the most fanatical and/or expendable Forsaken heroes, the Forsaken Skullguard is led by Deathmaster Yorik Bloodthorn. As Sylvanas, Varimathras and Nathanos don't want the Skullguard anywhere near the front lines due to their antics, an advance party is sent through a makeshift portal in the hopes of either seizing the magical energies left behind by the annex's destruction or, at the very least, causing enough chaos to prevent the Forsaken's enemies from establishing a foothold first. After driving off a Burning Legion assault and narrowly avoiding detonating a major leyline under Hinata city, they succeed.

OCs: Lots of them, unfortunately, and a few of them will approach Mary Sue levels. As this fic is intended as a comedy and not a serious drama, this is not necessarily a bad thing. The first few OCs are all based on old WoW toons of mine, and later other people's characters from WoW may or may not appear in the future. As for a list...

Yorik Bloodthorn: Undead Warrior and leader of the Forsaken Skullguard. Extremely skilled fighter capable of going toe-to-toe with Tsuruko and dispatching Motoko with ease when motivated, Yorik decides to treat being stranded on Earth as a vacation and spends most of his time lazing about with Kitsune. Is actually a pretty skilled cook, to Shinobu's surprise and everyone else's apprehension.

Shedao Shadowseeker: Undead Rogue and member of the Forsaken Skullguard. A member of the elite Deathstalkers, Shedao's skill at stealth reaches such levels that he spends most of the time completely unnoticed, even in plain site. In short: expect a running gag of "How long have you been here?!" "The entire time, why?"

Githra Shadowseeker: Undead Warlock and member of the Forsaken Skullguard. Shedao's twin brother and a former student at Dalaran, Githra is an extremely skilled practitioner of demonic magic and mad science. Spends much of his time trying to create tentacle monsters and various abominations in the tunnels beneath the Hinata Sou, occasionally makes ill thought-out attempts to woo his former girlfriend, Ballandra.

Riina Bloodthorn: Undead Rogue/Hunter (yes, I know that Undead Hunters aren't playable until Cataclysm, thank you and shut up now) and, once again, a member of the Forsaken Skullguard. Yorik's younger sister, Riina is a junior member of the Deathstalkers subordinate to Shedao and more recently has begun training in the Ranger arts at the direction of Nathanos. Harbors a Shinobu-like crush towards Shedao and introduces Kaolla to the wonderful world of Gnomish engineering. My God have mercy on us all.

Ballandra Lightbane: Undead Mage, and you can probably guess who she's affiliated with. Once a student at Dalaran and girlfriend of Githra, Ballandra died defending Dalaran from the Scourge while Githra fled. Now, as a Forsaken, she spends most of her time trying to keep Githra and the rest of the Forsaken Skullguard relatively in line, generally with a well-placed ice bolt or fireball. Harbors a strong resemblance in personality to Haruka.

Latkje Lightbane: Undead Priest and I won't even bother mentioning who he works with. Younger brother of Ballandra, Latkje has unfortunately lost his lower jaw to decay and is thus unable to speak coherently, a difficulty he overcomes with the ancient art of Genma Saotome-style Sign Language. Constantly trying to keep everyone in relatively good health, gives sermons in his spare time. Pity no one knows what he's muttering about during those.

Leonai Maxwell: Human Paladin and Knight of the Silver Hand. Living older brother of Ballandra and Latkje, Leonai avoided death at the hands of the Scourge due to being in Stormwind at the time. Briefly joined the Scarlet Crusade to reclaim Lordaeron, but left the Crusade in disgust early on. On a mission to act as an escort for a Kirin Tor mage investigating the annex's ruins, Leonai was the only member of his party to actually enter the portal before it destabilized and finds himself at Seta's dig site on Pararakelse instead of the Hinata House. Spends much of his time trying to find he Hinata House, but is constantly being delayed or misdirected by Seta's usual antics.

?????: A Death Knight of the Scourge, sent by the Lich King to investigate the annex's ruins and Earth. His runeblade was broken during the battle against the Burning Legion, and this coupled with the portal's sealing shortly afterward frees him from the Lich King's control, albeit at the cost of being left totally amnesiac. Now wanders Tokyo trying to regain his memories, assimilate into society, avoid the agents of the Lich King he imagines to be chasing him, and get those strange girls in the sailor outfits to stop chasing him.

Timmy: A fre-willed Shade loyal to the Scourge, sent by the Lich King to investigate the annex's ruins and Earth. Having accomplished his mission, Timmy is nevertheless unable to report his findings until the portal reopens, and thus spends his time taking advantage of his invisibility to peep on women.

Torgan Bloodaxe: Orc Shaman of the Horde, sent by Thrall to investigate the annex's ruins. His three-man team was stranded on Earth when the portal closed, and now they hide out in the forests surrounding the Hinata House waiting for the portal to reopen. Spends much of the early part of the fic meditating, communing with the Earth's spirits, and having fourth wall-breaking visions.

Torgus Bloodaxe: Orc Warrior of the Horde, nephew of Torgan and part of the team sent by Thrall to investigate the annex's ruins. Waits patiently for the portal to reopen and listening in on his uncle's visions and conversations.

Zan'gul: Darkspear Troll Hunter of the Horde, member of the team sent by Thrall to investigate the annex's ruins. Spends his time napping in the shade with his pet raptor, Hunahpu, while waiting for the portal to reopen.

Uolyas Blackhoof: Tauren Druid of the Horde. member of the team sent by Thrall to investigate the annex's ruins. Though he is supposed to be communing with nature and trying to speed up the portal's reopening with his druidic magic, Uolyas instead spends most of his time being deathly afraid of everyone around him after learning of the existence of the hamburger.

More to come later, probably. For now, sleep.
