During the First Cylon war, while the Colonnies were fighting their creation, earth was undergoing the final act of several ecological cataclisms.

Polution and overpopulation have reach the point where Earth can not sustain human life anymore and their space faring technology is not up to a massive exodus.

The planetary gouvernement was contemplating the option to go along the line of a "Soylent Green" scenario when ENCOM, a computer mega corporation, submit an alternative solution to cannibalism.

Since the 80ies, their foray into teleportation technology allowed them to develop a rather exotic application. They have been able to disintegrated solid matter into energy and convert it to a form able to exist inside the Cyberspace.

It was kept secret because the first human trial revealed that the programs within computer were actually sentient and that the cyberspace was a universe on its own.

ENCOM plans to build massive supercomputers then Digitize the bulk of the population inside the Cyberspace while selected individual would remain in the realspace to restore Earth.

The plan was approved and humanity moved to the cyberspace.

Years later, after the Genocide, the cylon reach Earth before the refuge fleet and find a world between life and death where an handful of human surround by a massive robotic manpower struggle to save it from destruction.

They deduct that the humans are responsible for this and decide to free their enslaved robotic brother and extract punishment from this foolish human.

Their intent to hack the Network was a spectacular failure and were hack back by Billions of Digitized Humans, learning everything they need to assess the situation.

Now, Homo Sapiens Cyberneticus must fight an alien Machine civilization bent to destroy them and possibly deal with highly fanatic and technophobe humans who may take a rather dimmed view of their present existence.
