Nasuverse [FSN] Centralized Random Idea Thread

I guess that sort of makes sense, but that's after some time with her as his Servant. Without that time, would he have the same feeling? I can see Mordred having that kind of feeling if the fight was happening as Arturia acknowledged her or something. Maybe Shirou is just happy that Mordred is happy and he's able to fight beside her and support her?

Which actually makes me imagine a touching scene with Arturia fading away, talking about how her decisions had hurt people, all the mistakes she'd made, and how even to her last moment, she never had a companion who truly understood her; that the moment she decided to draw Caliburn, she'd chosen to live a life of being "right" instead of a life of being "happy." And then Arturia finishes up by telling Mordred that she's glad her child has gotten the opportunity to avoid making the same mistakes, and maybe that was the wish the Holy Grail granted to Arturia.

I mean, yeah, that's probably what the artist was going for.  I was just giving a hypothetical situation for the previous question.  That said, 'after sometime with her as his Servant' is easy to rectify.  You just wind up with a Heaven's Feel like situation where Artoria winds up on the opposing side, but Shirou teams up with another Servant (Mordred) to fight them.

You know that Light Novel (and spinoff manga), Rising of the Shield Hero?

I was trying to think of the Summoned Shield Hero that would force the biggest genre shift, and although Saitama from One Punch Man would do well, in the end it's got to be Kiritsugu.

"I'm just a sick old man who died sitting on my porch with my son", like that, he'd deflect suspicion.

The thing is, I'm not sure where to go with it, he's too paranoid to easily fall into Melty's schemes. I don't really know where the story could go.

.... Yeah, no. I'd read it, but... honestly, I see him just cutting the root of the problem and killing the troublemakers as soon as he got an opening. I mean, I think that the author did the other heroes a disservice by making them idiots (though Spear is the worse), but most of the crap Naotsugu tolerates would be cut out blankly. Not to mention, Raphtelia... probably would end up like Maiya.

Quick idea I want some insight on, but how would I set up a Psyren x FSN crossover? Psychics in Nasuverse are essentially people who are born with a circuit open, but I'm trying to figure out how to explain the process happening due to exposure to the after-earth giga-death scenario that seems like something out of Notes in Psyren. I mean, I'm not sure how to explain someone pulled Shirou (or Shinji) out of their time period and into the future (or do I do alternate dimensions instead)?

It's not exactly hard for a time travel incident to occur (Shirou basically becomes a wandering hero after a while, righting wrongs and basically getting in the way of every amoral scumbag he can find).

Therefore, the set up is that Older!Shirou is hunting this or that magus who utilizes time magecraft and gets caught up in something that bounces him into the future. That's basically the early set up.

The issue is that I'm trying to squeeze the drifter parts before the Holy Grail War and Time Travel is considered a legitimate True Magic. That's not the sort of thing you can brute force barring a wish on the grail... which would lead to the end of humanity... just not how its supposed to happen, unless the wish upon the grail somehow leads to a 3rei scenario...

Huh... I think this might work, but I have no idea how to string that together.

Borrow from how Grand Order justifies its timetravel, just say that Nemesis Q is not really sending their complete bodies into the future, but instead they leyshift -send their souls into fake bodies- to interact with the Singularity that is the bad future of Psyren. Since the paradoxes will be corrected when they leave (return to their bodies), timetravel is possible for now. One thing that I would do in a Psyren cross is to have other organization/groups from the Nasuverse survive in Psyren too. I mean the Vampires would really hate the place, and I see them trying to do something against the WISE and stuff.

I didn't play Grand Order, so I wasn't familiar with it. But that sounds like it could work. Is there a more thorough explanation for that singularity on the wikia?

I don't really play GO either, but this is what I got through osmosis. Basic gist is that the Big Bad of GO is derailing history (with Holy Grails) at certain points in time making them singularities in the timeline, so the protagonist (and their servants) go back in time through a method called leyshift (that only sends the souls of the protagonists) to solve those paradoxes to restore the proper timeline and secure the foundation of humanity. That's the basics of it, but you might want to ask around for better details.

In the Psyren cross, the idea would be that you would have Nemesis Q just send the souls of Agata and Co to the future while their real bodies stay in the present. So technically it would be a form of really vivid remote viewing, or future sight ESP. Plus body reflects the soul, if the spiritual body of someone in the future that is Psyren is hurt, the damage will be transmitted to the body in the present explaining why someone can get killed or grow stronger there.

That sounds great. Okay, so then here's the basic idea of the plot I've come up with:

Side-characters from Fate Stay Night are attempting to prevent a hellish scenario in the near future which turns out to be because of the Holy Grail War, as Angra Mayu has given birth to enough curses that it wiped out the majority of humanity barring select organizations—Atlas, Clock Tower, and so on with protection against curses. With their prey in such short supply, vampires (who didn't fall under the purview of the curse) stalk the lands and stray curses exist as well. Alaya has empowered a single psychic with the ability to perform time travel, pulling individuals from the past into the future (see: Time Travel), an act that also bestows them with psychic abilities (read: engrave specialized circuits to realize supernatural phemonia).

These Drifters have gone through the hellish world of the near future and now, as the Holy Grail War nears, they team up with different Masters in hopes of avoiding that future.

Time Travel

Nemesis Q sends the souls of the drifters to the future while their real bodies stay in the present through a contract made when the cards are called. So technically it would be a form of really vivid remote viewing, or future sight ESP, with the soul’s manifestation in the future being something akin to a Servant’s Materialization. Plus body reflects the soul, if the spiritual body of someone in the future that is Psyren is hurt, the damage will be transmitted to the body in the present explaining why someone can get killed or grow stronger there.

Drifters

The drifters are psychiers that were pulled in because of their proximity to the events of the Holy Grail War and thus being in a position to prevent it. Numerous people from Fuyuki were pulled in, but died and went missing in the modern time. At the time of the Holy Grail War, all of their cards have been reduced to 0. All drifters are bound by something akin to a Geas to Nemesis Q to prevent them from spreading the future knowledge they have. This is done because certain elements (Kotomine and Gilgamesh) would no doubt hasten the effect. This Geas can be broken by Rule Breaker.

Ayako

A drifter that has grown distant from her family due to her constantly being called into Psyren , she still goes to the archery club because it allows her to get away from everything and is something she relishes. When Lancer attacks the school because she is staying late with Emiya, she ends up allowing the two of them to escape and they go to his home where Saber is summoned, bringing her into the Holy Grail War as an ally of Emiya and Rin Tohsaka.

Ayako borrows from Psyren's Sakurako Amamiya and Seven Deadly Sins Gowther:
  •    Rise (Strength and Endurance): Ayako is capable of all-around Rise, but specializes in raising her Strength and Endurance to a level that reaches above human-limits (I.e She would have a Servant Strength ranking to match around Lancer in strength).
  •    Trance (Monster) - Ayako excels at trance, allowing her to perform abilities similar to Mental Interference. She can read minds (Mind Jack), implant thoughts (Rewrite Light/Basic Mental Inference), link thoughts (Broadcast), create arrows that cause illusions and or crystallize an illusion (Mind Jack Insanity Size) in the form of a wrist-mounted crossbow.
  •    Burst (Basic): Ayako can create arrows that contain explosive burst energy.

Shinji

A drifter that is cowardly and hedonistic, enjoying the pleasures in modern life because he figures that they’re screwed anyway. Zouken has tried to puzzle out his constant disappearances, but because of the Geas and Shinji’s Trance, he’s mostly avoided the threats of death and turned it on Zouken once by accident—leaving Zouken curious enough to leave him by as he decides whether or not to involve himself in the war. On the plus side, he’s much nicer to Sakura. He’s siding with Sakura, Rider, and his grandfather during the course of the war. Between his Trance and Rider’s speed, it enables them to outmaneuver other competitors.

Shinju borrows from Psyren's Kabuto:

  •    Rise (Sense Type): His cowardice has led to his sense rising to the point where he can sense others greatly, allowing him to avoid danger.
  •    Trance (Menace Vision) - He has visions, a form of precognition, allowing him to perceive the danger he or others are in and then avoid it. He later comprehends it enough to manipulate it, able to turn danger back on itself.
  •    Burst (Yoyo) – He develops a form of Burst that essentially allows him to manipulate things combining telekinesis with Sense and Menace to grab ‘Fate’ and turn it against whatever did so.

Issei

A drifter who has got involved and upon seeing an image of hell on earth became dedicated to ending it. Caster, upon moving to the temple, tried to use mental manipulation on him, but he caught on. Curious and realizing he was under a geas, she used Rule Breaker after paralyzing him and thus he was allowed to explain the situation. He is working with her and Kakuzu under the belief that Caster can avoid the situation and thus sees her more monstrous actions as a necessary evil.

Issei borrows from Psyren’s Van and Oboro:
  •    Rise (All Around): He has all-around Rise, but lacks the strength of Ayako and Perception of Shinji.
  •    Trance (Basic) - He has basic trance, allowing him to know and counter Mental Interference to a limited extent. It was enough that he managed to undo Caster’s attempt and draw her interest.
  •    Burst (Cure) – He is the sole Cure Psychier of the group.

Prologue Outline

It begins in the morning with Ayako in the archer club with Shinji and Sakura when Issei arrives and says he would like to speak with them both about something. Shinji immediately refuses, saying that he’s not involved anymore, while Ayako says she’ll meet him there

During Lunch, they go to the room and meet with Issei explaining his theory that the events that lead to that hellish future must be close to coming now. Ayako muses on that they don’t have any clue on preventing it. Issei asks if he had a method of stopping it but would require an immense cost to human life, would she agree to it. Ayako wants to do so without any unnecessary deaths, but Issei says that the needs outweigh the many and asks her to contemplate it. She thinks on it while doing archery until Shirou starts cleaning and decides to help, stating she isn’t getting along with her parents right now and this sort of thing gives her a purpose of sorts for the present.

The two get caught inside when the battle between Servants kick off and end up running together when Lancer strikes, trying to kill Shirou as in canon. Ayako, having activated Sense and Rise, blocks it with a kick before using her trance-crossbow to give him an illusion while they jump out of the window and run off. Shirou tells her to drop him off at his place for privacy.

There, Shirou asks her since when she was a magus, but that term doesn’t make sense to her when Lancer attacks again and Shirou uses reinforcement until Lancer kicks him out of the house and when the fighting spills out into the yard hits him hard enough that he goes into the shed and ends up summoning Saber while hearing Ayako fighting outside and she gets stabbed in the arm.

Saber fends off Lancer and then Rin approaches, having decided to track him down, when Saber goes after Archer. Shirou calls her off and they all go inside so that they can discuss things, with Rin healing Ayako using her pendant. Ayako obviously can’t tell them (and when tries to use mental interference) Ayako tells her not to do it, but Saber gives them a basic explanation into the holy grail war and Ayako asks Shirou if he would wish to save the world and he says of course, then she tells them that she’ll help him.

In Psyren,

Nemesis Q was a Familiar or perhaps a psychic construct created by Grigori #7 to change the past after an alien being nested in a meteor crashed into the world and invaded, after it detected (or was invited by) Grigori 36, the series villain Amagi Miroku.

In Nasuverse terms, the Ouroboros Meteor was something like a parasitic Type that infected Gaea and destroyed the World from the inside.

But as per Notes, humans are capable of living on even past the death of the World.

Well, fucking up Gaea would destroy the Ritual Foundation of Magecraft though, which would be extremely disruptive for spellcasters.

I'm trying to keep it more grounded by changing the circumstances of the end of the world because the world of Notes that would result from the Types would essentially rely on modifying the body to use Grain and is so far in the future that it doesn't matter. By localizing it to being the result of a Bad Ending (let's say Kotomine managed to kill Shirou during that final battle or some other scenario), it explains why Drifters are taken from Fuyuki in specific, why none of them have to go back to said bad future during the events of the HGW, and I have less work to do trying to squeeze in why a Parasite Type suddenly arrived in the alternative timeline.

I feel like that's a half-assed premise for a crossover though.

I mean, why even bother making it a crossover at all if you're not going to use any of the characters or plot of one series?

You could make it straight FSN fare with just one change:

The Grail is responding to Sakura's Wish that someone, anyone, notice that she was suffering and do something about it.
Ayako was the captain of her Club
Shinji was her older brother
Issei was the Stuco Prez, friends with Shinji and Shirou and maybe Ayako, and was super-suspicious of Rin's Honor Student Facade

Then the only question is why didn't Shirou get dragged in, but maybe he melted his brain excaliblasting Angra Mainyu in a HF Bad End, so now it's on the B Team to fix things.

They all get dragged into the described Post Grail Apocalypse World, and flip back and forth between that and the Grail War.

I'm not sure how you feel about writing another story about Saving Sakura though

To be honest, I would have prefered a more straight up crossover with Psyren. I think part of the charm of the manga was the back and forth between the present and the future to uncover how the world ended, and just making the HGW the focus feels like it really limits the story a bit. I guess this might be the fact that I am a bit tired of HGW fics speaking, but I feel that if you kept the Ouroboros and Wise around it would make the story more interesting/original.

Plus really exploring a post-apoc Nasuverse has a lot of potential for a story, and just skipping that feels like a waste. Imagining how different factions might react to living in Psyren would be cool. Would the Alchemists try to do something, or would they go full Dust of Osiris and try to cut their loses. Would the Vampires try to save humans, or maybe try to complete that certain rituals to restore the world. What about the Church or the Mages, would they try to fight the Wise? Will the Crimson Moon appear at the end and go all Keikaku Doori?

I also feel that limiting it to just people around Fuyuki who join Psyren might make the cast too small. So far all Drifters who came from Psyren know each other and come from the same school, and isn't that like too coincidental. Add someone from outside (the school or Fuyuki) to make the cast more varied, and to take the opportunity to introduce new variables into the HGW if you want to shake things a lot. Like if you want to just keep things restricted to FSN, maybe consider adding Taiga into the people that go to Psyren, but personally I would also consider adding people from outside Fuyuki to shake things up and just show that this involves the whole world. Someone who actually knows about Magic might be interesting, or maybe someone who is involved with the moonlit world but is not a mage... I guess you really should consider that a bit.

As per Daniel's suggestion, I think that introducing the Ouroboros meteorite monster as a parasitic Aristotle might actually work pretty well. Here is how I would spin it, the planet the Ouroboros comes from actually died, but instead of just giving up, that planet lauched it's terminal to space and sent it to Earth as a parasite. What the Ouroboros is meant to do is terraform the Earth into the same planet it came from, basically killing the planet and changing it for a new one (so in the future of Psyren, Gaia is not completely dead, but in the process of being taken over by the will of Ouroboros/the invading planet). The Taboo monsters are the result of it trying to harvest the living creatures on Earth to make them into servants/the new life of the planet that will be born.

Maybe, but the scope it too large for me to be blunt. One thing I've learned is that I work best on a small scale rather than large and HGW is familiar territory, so I work within it instead. I try and make something that grand and expansive, it gets added to my total number of fanfics that are lucky to update more than twice a year because I've spent the last six months trying to hammer it out.

You're all far more versed in Nasuverse than me, so I don't doubt you could pull it off. But it's easier for me to write this version to hammer out the personalities and interactions during the war (more FSN than Psyren), and then if I decide I want to expand on it, take in all the notes and suggestions to make a new fic with something on a larger scale and more characters (more Psyren than FSN).

In short: I'm all for the idea of this as an expanded universe, but this is like ten levels beyond my understanding and the less I understand something, the longer it takes to write it.

Azure

Well-Known Member
Sorry, I just feel that making the fic about the HGW doesn't really play to the strengths of this specific crossover. In the end what you will end up with is just another take on the 5th HGW with more players and maybe the three Drifters from Psyren getting everybody to join up to gang up on Gil and the fake priest. I don't think that writing a more Psyren-like version of the crossover has to be that complicated (or at least no more complicated than the original Psyren was), honestly you probably could get away with not having to explain stuff that much. If you feel you need help, just make an thread for this idea, and we could try to hammer out something that works for you and uses the potential of the crossover more.

EDIT: An interesting idea might be to actually have the HGW happen in the post-apoc future, with the goal of getting to go back in time to prevent the end of the world.

In that case I would advise you to set it post-UBW (an ending where Shinji survived), and make it about dragging a couple Nasuverse characters into the plot of Psyren. Just completely cut the Grail as a Plot Thing you have to deal with by having it so the supporting cast (ie, Rin and Shirou) already cleaned that up.

Another tip might be to have your viewpoint protags be the last three Drifters recruited, so you can hit the main plot in media res; that way all the "setup" is implicit in the backstory and you can just refer to it with the occasional reference or quick flashback.

I guess part of the problem is that crossovers fundamentally demand twice as much content knowledge as a single-source fic, because you have to be competent enough in both bodies of canon.

Leidolf

Well-Known Member
A post-HGW might be interesting, I'll give you that, but... umm, how will they eventually kill said Aristotle is the biggest question? ORT is still hanging around in South America because they can't kill it, and Black Barrel is nowhere to be found. If you're going to work on a cosmic scale, you've got to have a way of dealing with a cosmic level of threat, with the expectation that the protagonists will deal with it.

Yeah, I like this actually. I can set it up as another Shinji Fic with him doing it in an effort to grasp power on his own and Ayako / Issei being the mentors. I can add Taiga in as a later entrant during the second trip, ooh, and the Matsuri figure can that liquor store owner. And Shirou and Rin are investigating the deaths that result because of the trips into Psyren happening in a split-second from their perspective with people dying in Fuyuki.

Screw it, I'll start a thread for it.

Blurb Start:

Define 'Hero'

Part One

"Please, brave heroes! Please, won't you save this world!"

Eh? Eeeeeh!

What is this outrageous like development! More, actually, what is this kind of clichéd line?

I, who had been enjoying a leisurely college life due to various family circumstances, had stopped by my usual store to browse for new eroge. However, while I was looking, I had come across a strange book. It looked strange and old, and was titled 'Four Heavenly Weapons' Manual'. It had been an interesting book, though a bit strange, about four heroes with four weapons: the sword, the spear, the bow, and the shield.

Come to think of it, does a shield actually count as a weapon?

Anyway, I had been reading it while interested, and had made it through the stories of the users of swords, spears, and bows. However, for some reason, the section dedicated to the Hero of the Shield had been blank, and while I had been thinking about it my thoughts had grown hazy.

And before I knew it, I had shown up here, in a brick room surrounded by robe wearing men.

Wait. Why was a shield stuck to my arm?

It was while I was thinking such things, that a man bowing so low as to kiss the ground explained the circumstances. Apparently, this world was in some kind of trouble, and so they had performed a sacred summoning in order to draw fourth four heroes who would be able to fight against the danger and save the world.

What kind of lame web novel-esque train of thought was that?

Still, I found myself at least interested in this kind of development…

"The world is facing a global state of crisis. Heroes, please lend us your strength!" the old man finished his explanation while I was thinking, and was bowing as he asked for our help.

"Well, this is a bit sudden…"

"Okay."

"Hoh? Interesting. For heroes to be needed so strongly… Well, it is the role of heroes to do so."

"…You have to be freaking kidding me. Again? Really? Again? I thought I was done with this kind of bull."

Ehhhhh!!!!!

While I had been getting engrossed in the story, the other three seemed to be treating this so casually. All of them, adjusting so easily? And now two of them, the ones who agreed were giving me curious looks while the one who seemed upset was just grinding his teeth and palming his head.

Was I the only one who was a unprepared to be in these circumstances? Two of the other three seemed used to it, and the last seemed more resigned than anything else.

These guys all seemed so comfortable, I feel like I lost at something a bit to them…

"Well, first I'd like you all to have an audience with the king. We can discuss the situation in depth then." The representative of the robed men seemed pleased about something.

"I look forward to hearing about the situation, and will help in any way I can."

"Ha! A king! Well then, let's see what I have to work with."

"I just want this over with. Tell me the clear conditions and then get out of my way."

Gah! What an accepting bunch! Was I the only one who was still unsure?

We were led through many hallways, and one of them had many windows. I looked on a village that seemed something out of medieval Europe. Mesmerized, all too soon we were at the audience chamber.

"I am the king of this country, Aultcray, the thirty second ruler of Melromarc. Heroes, raise your heads."

I wasn't even looking down! For some reason, I feel like punching this bastard. Before me was what looked like a prideful grandpa. I wasn't going to go about licking boots, that much was for sure.

"Now, let me explain the situation…"

To summarize the king's story.

There is a prophecy predicting the end of this world. The world will be assaulted by waves of calamity that will one day turn everything to ruin. To save the world, these waves must be repelled in order to disperse them.

There seems to be some kind of hourglass that can somehow predict when these waves will come. Originally, the residents of this country hadn't been too concerned, but then the hourglass finished counting down and the first wave appeared. A dimension crack appeared, and from it hordes of hideous and brutal demons poured out. Though adventurers and soldiers managed to repel it, they were not without casualties. It was predicted that the next wave would be even more powerful.

It was a worst case scenario for them. At this rate, a disaster could not be prevented.

Well, that was the basics anyway.

Also, for some reason, it looks like our armaments were somehow able to translate languages. What a convenient ability!

"I see. If that is the situation, then it can't be helped. I will do all I can."

"And I suppose we have to do this, alone, without help? Or is there more you can offer?"

"So this is the extent of the backstory? Fine, I'll find out the rest through quests."

What a strange bunch! One agrees without thinking, another starts to probe for benefits, and the last doesn't seem to even care!

Hey, you guys. Aren't you secretly happy about the situation?

Well, I suppose I can take advantage of this situation as well…

The king sent a vessel a glance. "Of course, we planned on rewarding you as well, Heroes."

I start to make a guts pose, but since the other three didn't I decided not to.

Still, jackpot!

"I've already made arrangements to aid your cause with money. And of course, since the Heroes will be saving the world, I've prepared a fitting place for you all to sleep."

"Thank you. A night's sleep before beginning is greatly appreciated."

"Haha! You think we can be tamed so easily? Still, it's a place to start."

"Ugh. I'd prefer to hurry up and get this over with, but a chance to read the manual before I start is probably the better idea."

I think it's going to take a bit of time before I start understanding these people.

"Well then, Heroes. Let me hear your names."

"I am called Emiya Shirou. I'm twenty one. Please treat me kindly."

The Hero of the Bow spoke. My first impression is of some kind of rogue. Tall and slightly tanned, he has red hair that is sprinkled with white. Was he involved in something stressful to be going grey so young?

He looks like the kind of person that you would want to be careful of, but so far he has been the most polite and willing to help this world.

He looks like a lean ranger, an archer through and through.

"My turn then? Very well. I am called Cao Cao. Eighteen. I look forward to seeing what this world has to offer."

The Hero of the Spear chimed in. First impressions: tall and broad shouldered, charming grin, confident disposition. The airs of a charming ne'er do well. Someone who would get you in to trouble, but you'd have fun while doing it.

So far, he seems to be having the most fun while making the most demands. Also, he seemed really comfortable with his spear, having it across his shoulders casually.

He looks like a charming leader, the kind people will follow without question.

"I have no intention of sharing my name. If you need to call me something, call me Kirito."

The Hero of the Sword. First impression: a pretty boy who if you put them in girls clothes you would have a perfect trap, dark hair, dark eyes, and dark attitude. This guy, he seemed the least happy to be here.

Out of everyone, he looks the unhappiest, and by his words he seems very eager to save the world as quickly as possible, but not because he actually cares about the world. Maybe he has a reason to be resentful for being summoned or something?

Right. I guess its my turn now.

"And finally, my name is Iwatani Naofumi, age twenty and a university student."

The king just casually looked past me. A weird feeling hit my spine.

"Shirou, Cao, and Kirito, hmmm?"

"My liege, you forgot about me."

"Oh, sorry Naofumi-dono."

That weird feeling again. Seriously old man, don't forget about me when I'm the most recent introduction.

"Now then, everyone please confirm your status. As a matter of fact, I would like all of you to check for yourselves."

Status? Just what does that mean?

"Excuse me, but I'm afraid I'm unfamiliar with the term, at least in the context you are using it, your majesty." Trust Shirou to say politely what I was thinking.

"If you look at the corner of your vision, you should see an icon. Either you can either concentrate on it, or swipe your hand through it." It was Kirito who answered as though the answer should be obvious.

I moved my hand like he said, and with a 'pi-kon' a game like menu appeared.

Iwatani Naofumi.

Occupation: Hero of the Shield.

Equipment: Small shield (Legendary Armament), parallel world clothes.

Level 1.

Skills: None.

Magic: None.

So in this world, one's strength can be represented through various numbers, and one's prowess can be raised through those numbers. Interesting.

"Well, I suppose everyone starts somewhere." (Shirou)

"Ha! Just level one? Still, levels aren't the only way to represent strength you know." (Cao Cao)

"I'll have to investigate what the margin of safety should be." (Kirito)

"From now on, Brave Heroes, venture forth and so that you may hone your bodies and strengthen your legendary armaments!" (King)

"Legendary this, legendary that." Cao Cao swung his spear in high spirits. "In the end, it's the Heroes that wield them that make the weapons strong. It is the hero that wields the weapon, not the weapon that makes the hero!"

That was a passionate statement from the Hero of the Spear. Still, I found myself excited, like the spring time of youth welling up with emotions. A dream of excitement and adventure, all waiting to begin. The hope of what the future might bring surges!

"So then are we all going to form a party?" (Naofumi)

"Brave Heroes, please hold a moment. Before you begin, you much recruit your companions and venture forth separately.) (King)

"Huh? That, seems a bit different from what I was expecting." (Shirou)

Again, the Hero of the Bow seems to be saying what I'm thinking before I have the chance. Wasn't it the case that the legendary heroes should form a party? Isn't that the usual premise of games in this game like world?

"Allow me to prepare your comrades. It is getting quite late. Rest for the night, and prepare to depart on your journey in the morning." (King)

And so, saying our thanks, we all departed to rest in the rooms while the king prepared for the next day.

X-posted from SB. Inspired by this.

Emiya Shirou will turn his mind to steel, and become a superhero.

Outside the church, alone, Shirou breathed in the night air. Tohsaka had left a few minutes ago. He didn't know what felt stranger; the sight of Tohsaka's tears, or the fact that he had none of his own. He shook his head. Of course he had none. Tears were for grieving...and he and Tohsaka had just saved every person Matou Sakura would have killed in the future. This was a victory.

...was it?

Shirou took another deep breath. Tohsaka was clearly distraught. When he refused to stop her, there had been something in her eyes. A betrayal of expectations. Her weakness could soon turn to anger, and then...Shirou had no Servant. He could not possibly defeat even one of the remaining Masters, let alone all three. It was insanity to try.

He would win anyway. For the sake of his ideal, he would give up everything. That, and no less, would be Emiya Shirou's path.

"Hiiigh!"

The back of Shirou's hand burned. From within the cold, empty church, Kotomine knew. Of all the cruel ironies this Black Grail has supplied, this may be the sweetest of all. Unbid words, a memory from the Fourth War, surfaced in the priest's mind, and his lips twisted into a cruel smile. It looks as if the Grail still has high expectations of you...heir of Emiya.

To be honest, seeing a continuation of the Mind of Steel route is kinda hard to do. I personally can't see Shirou beating either Archer or Rider after Sakura dies, so there is no way he will win the war you know.

He's actually in a very similar situation to Kotomine in Fate/Zero, and he won't need to worry about Rider for very long - she only has Independent Action C, meaning if she conserves energy, she'll stay in the world for one day.

Not really, Kotomine had Gil waiting for him to join forces with him, while Shirou here will have Archer, Assassin and Rider gunning for him while he has no servant to protect him. Specially Archer, who will not allow this superhero to exist for any longer.
