Well, surfing deviant art led me to some pretty funny crap. I found an entire series there with an interesting concept, however it comes in multiple versions. Basicall a bunch of artists entered this OC contest for an online comic, and they somehow pulled them all together. It would be too much trouble to surf around a post all of them, So I'll just put up my favorite so far.

Now with a Monty Python Joke. Notice that this is a flash, and it's not the only one, though there are a few more comics. It's very interesting, and the fight scenes are pretty cool too. I like this one for the jokes, but Climber against the ten year old kid was good for a laugh too. Climber rocks.

wow, I really enjoy that climber character. Watched all of the matches and read the comics for him, very cool and fun character. I feel bad for him, I hope the finale ends well for him.

Did you see the other versions from the other artists in the competition? The artist of the Painter character (Dood) is a little farther along in the story, and now both Dood and Climber were going to take on Big Bad together (After Climber was possesed by Big bad, which is what I assume is going to happen in this version as well) However yes, Climber does rock, and his story is pretty interesting, thoughit is sad. A few of the themes I wouldn't understand unless I saw the extra comments and other extras though...

Anyway, Climber freaking rocks. I don't know what it is, but it's probably that he's able to do so much when his abilities are rather minor compared to the other characters, and he's been actually getting weaker since he got to the asylm and yet still managed to win. He's just that enjoyable. A fun and powerful character without going over any limits (Though using the Grim energy was awesome), and he's so clueless it's funny. I honestly enjoy him better than all the rest. I can only hope he finally gets his wish in the end...

I read through doods story as well and his character is very entertaining. I get shades of Shikamaru from him, "damn "chosen one" thing again.... why do I always get the hard ones?" but he has cool and interesting powers and has lots of interesting interaction with the other characters. Both Climber and Dood deserve the final spot.

I don't envy the judging group at all picking between those two. I hope Climber wins and gets to meet the girl again. Though if doo wins Climber will still be working right along side him.

I'll be looking forward to how it ends up, I would pay to read the story of either of those characters.

Well I read through both (Maximum awesome, though I enjoyed the flashes in particular) and now I feel like checking out the other characters. Skye in particular looks interesting. Climbers the best so far, and as the chosen one Dood is funny (The battle against the old guy...), so I have a lot of hope for the rest of them. Then I'll get around to reading the Ninja...

The guys who pulled this together did pretty well, particularly since usually a person who creates a character wouldn't want them to lose. However each interpretation, though different, actually flows pretty well. Particularly since I saw the Ninja's interaction with Climber.

Blast... now I have an urge to use a similar plotline for an Idea...

Mm, I haven't read skye's yet... I read OMG and hers were kinda funny but very short... chimbly sweeps art style was hard to read. Shadow boxer has a whole spectator comic for after he loses (which is a cool thing to do for sure). but dood and climber are definately great for the top.

Idea huh... like a TTF original character tournement? people make OCs and get paired up in conflicts then people vote which on to do and move up through the tournement ladder like that?

Yep. Looking at the way it works after seeing the other artists styles, both would write a segment for how the battle would go, and the best one is considered what really happened. I think the artist for the online comic Ever After decides it, considering he has a strip that shows what leads up into the begining of both Climber vs. Dood battles. Thus you'd need a Judge who moves the plot at certain points (Like setting up Big bad being there), and decides who wins but at the same time doesn't have a character of his own (I think) so it's impartial. Course you could call it the dungeon master if you prefer old school style... The tricky thing would be setting up a plot for it.

Anyway, looking at the artist for the Doom Robot Cindy, I think both artists can combine their efforts to make it work, though usually they do their own versions, as it's very likely that they don't want to see their own character lose. However looking at the way Dood's first battle went I'd say it works better if the two can come to an agreement and decide who loses between the two. Plus it's lot like the losing character has to vanish, considering how dood's story goes. Considering how it's much less time consuming to do it in snippets rather than comic or flashes (Though less awesome), it shouldn't be that hard, though there should be certain power limits.

Also I finished Shado (His alternate version was interesting, and the way he helped Climber in his version was cool, though it felt contrived), and Skye's was pretty interesting, but he didn't get too deep into it and I didn't understand a lot of it, but the art style and direction the plot went made it seem very dark. Anyway Climber and Dood are definitely on top.

Indeed, a setting is the key... need a place /group of people that would want a reason for all these people to come and fight to the last one. likely with less then stellar motives so to be able to motivate the people to fight even when they don't want to (which with some characters is bound to happen). some place big with a variety of settings in which to battle... hm, I'm all interested for sure...

The each person would need to post up their character and their intro... that way people would know how they were like and what they could do for the opponent to be able to write them... dead lines for each round, any spectator snippets for in between...

Yep. One of the greatest parts about the particular plot for these comics is the fact that everything from Ever After works in this setting for the battles (Grim needs violence to grow stronger), and the plot is very flexible, as each person seems to have their own interpretation of it and different motives. The big bad is reoccuring sure, but it also is portrayed slightly differently in each one.

It would be an interesting project, though getting enough people to make it work would be tricky, along with setting up the backdrop without directly ripping from Ever After, which isn't suggested. I'd think of something (probably something to do with a study of a subjects exposure to a certain type of new energy discovered in terms of battle potential in order to use it as a weapon, and people showing unusual abilities were selected for the study, and perhaps a few 'normal' people to see the effects, and for a twist another evil group discovers the study and then steals the energy source and uses it for themselves, and they have to stop it), but I'd want to join myself... I'd thought of an interesting character that isn't an Axel Ripoff (or Climber) while reading these...

Also in the interest of keeping things marginally on topic, Attack of the Trogdor.

Hm I think a setting could be worked out... maybe should move this concept to another thread of it's own and work it out there... I have several OCs myself (I make characters in my spar time). But I might run it I have a setting and concept coming to mind that is slowly building...

My thoughts are that a tournament is sponsored by a council of mages, the winner is entitled to a wish of their choosing. This contest notice has been sent through the multiverse in hopes of attracting the best (and plenty of the worst lol) The battlefield is a purpose built arena of sorts that has five sectors (Jungle, Urban, Desert, Series of islands, and snow) each sector having a 'safe zone' where the healers and rest area are. there is also a series of underground tunnels (which are half natural and half man made) though there is no safe zone there. All areas leading up to a spire at the center. Between series of stairs there are three huge floors in which to battle and the at the very top is a portal to an area which the final group (either final four if we get a lot of people or the final pair if we have less so) enter. The portal can only open if someone passes a test of combat in the spire (and the wizards use they're magic to hold it open when it does open).

The final area is in a fighting area of old ruins which the last fights will hold though in this area is a beast roaming through the ruins attacking anyone that enters... This is the true meaning of this tourney. This is the ruins of an ancient civilization, the beast is a guardian meant to keep out all who invade and the council is using the final pair as a bait to lure the beast away from their goal... an artifact of great power.

...

But NGD you idea could work just as well... much simpler then my own lol. and the battlefield could still remain the same though just with hidden 'batteries' about collecting the energy from the fighting. But Yeah I wouldn't mind setting things up and giving a few NPCs that can be used by anyone... as stated I have a large cashe of characters sitting around.

Where would one put this. In a sense it is an RPG, but in the original sense it's more like a contest... confusing...

At any rate either idea would work. Just needs a tad fleshing out to provide a good backdrop, and leave a lot of it open for interpretation so anyone can manipulate it anyway they want, thus leaving the plot as more guidelines for the story to see how it evolves...

Oh, I just finished the comics made centering around Gramps (The lucky guy). All of them are epic, though the last one was really sad (The Gramps version of the Dood vs. Gramps fight). Now among the top on my list. I'm not sure if I like Gramp's version better than Doods or not...

I enjoyed skye's myself... he has an entertaining badass character with good action and nice bits of humor poking fun at himself. though ne didn't make the deadline with his comic against climber and never finished. looking over Alisa as well (one of doods opponents) the artist has a good style and it good sense of humor though they had to quit due to RL issues. a real shame but it happens...

I'll have to read grampy's stuff...

Okay, I read through all the ones that mattered. Baghead was pretty cool, a shame he lost to Skye considering he could have gone pretty far with his storyline, but Skye probably deserved it more for that chapter. Luck of the draw I guess Also for some odd reason the Ninja that teams up with him disappears in the other arcs... I also enjoyed Alice and the Girl she faught then raped (copiously). Nice to see those two stayed.

Also the one gramps fights before dood was awesome too (The demon girl wearing next to nothing) but unfortunately like Skye and the girl Alice fought the artist wasn't able to finish in time. All of them would have been cool to see continued...

I personally would have enjoyed a Climber vs. Baghead battle myself. However Gramps would have been hilarious to see go all the way. Though considering each of the characters, I'd have to agree that the only one who could possibly beat Gramps ability would have been dood, and only because he managed to negate all Gramps luck for that moment.

Also the Chimney Sweep was cool too. I didn't like turning Climber into a secret agent, but his earlier battles were funny. The artist for Ms. Crowly also was pretty good for humor.

Finally, I found an image with all contestents (There were 64 apparently).

And just cuz it was funny, this is the artist of OMG's version of how events went. Poor climber...

I just took a look on Endling's DA site and he's released the results.

Unknown-Person and The Climber win!!

Now we just have to wait for Endling to release his prizes to the winner's.

awesome... though lan-kun with his character Dood would have been equally worthy of victory I got attached the the little doll that could. I'm looking forward to seeing the finale for sure... I have no doubt that at least three or four artistes will be making spectator comics, epilouges, etc.

I love things like this, a writing contest like this would be amazing... or I could try and learn to draw heh, it would take me a long time to be half as good as any of the artists in this contest. it was a fun thing to stumble upon though.

Well, I can't say much other than I agree completely that that must have been insanely difficult to judge. Both should be continued honestly (And I hope Lan decides to do so). Well, now I just need to wait to see this battle between Climber and one of Endlings characters now...

An event like this would be a lot of fun though...
