That hits really close to home for me. I *like* single-purchase physical copies of my games and go out of my way to buy console disks. Heck, I probably take it a bit too far, since in recent times, I've disconnected the PS4 from the internet.

This was the reason for me getting out of being a gamer, I saw the way the industry was going, and did not like it at all... Used to be you could buy a game and play it as long as you had the console. Just look at all the games that have come out that actually require the server for full functionality, servers that in many cases no longer exist, or no longer support a game or a platform....

There are tons of games that don't require a server, are there less than there used to be yes, but that doesn't mean that the single player experience is dead. All this being said depending on your chosen genres of game it may be far more difficult to find ones that don't need access to the internet, I prefer RPGs with more of a lean towards JRPGs and I have little trouble finding ones that don't need internet.

It is time for her to re-enact the Susan Ivanova from Babylon 5 approach to diplomatically explosive situations like that,

Somehow, I doubt that. If anything, Microsoft just bought a company which can teach them what bugs are acceptable - but people would buy the product anyways.

Sadly, that last part is true.
