Part 41

The Trap.

OooOOooOO

Tony Stark was leaving his office. He had a cell phone resting between his ear and his shoulder. ôGreat. So, it's finished then?ö He paused as he walked through the lobby. The first floor was crowded and people pushed through the doors going about their business. ôTomorrow? Fine. It's going to take some time to get everything set up anyway. Yeah, that's great. So, we'll get it done in three days. That way you can have time to check things over, and I can get everyone up to speed on what's going on. Okay, I'll talk with you later, Yoshi.ö He went through the glass doors and onto the stairs that would lead him onto the sidewalk.

The parking garage was off to the side of the building. It was a multi level structure, and while he could have a car pick him up, he preferred to drive himself. He reached into his pocket and felt for his keys, using his other hand to put his phone into the opposite pocket. It was early in the day, not even noon. He was heading out to have a late breakfast somewhere. He could have gotten someone to bring it too him, but he wanted some air as well. Even if it wasn't very fresh in the middle of the city.

ôHey, kid.ö

The boy froze and turned. ôHuh?ö

Kajura was standing next to his partner, leaning down the railing at the bottom of the stairs. Saito waved at him with a cheerful grin on his face. The older cop looked far too happy to see him.

He scowled and turned to look at them. ôOfficers, what can I do for you?ö

ôWhat's that look for?ö asked the older cop as he moved up to block his path. His partner moved up beside him.

ôI can tell you're both up to something. What is it?ö He noticed they were boxing him in, but wasn't concerned.

The older Inspector chuckled. ôYeah. I was goin over your records. Standard stuff. That's when I noticed something, kinda odd.ö

ôThat would be?ö Tony knew the old man was dragging it out for his own amusement.

Saito shrugged. ôAccording to your records, you're only fourteen.ö

ôSo?ö scowled the boy.

ôDid pretty good getting yourself a seventeen year old wife,ö commented Kajura as he smirked at him.

ôThat's not illegal,ö grumbled the boy irritably. ôI know you think you've got something. Hurry up and tell me what it is, so I can work on disappointing you.ö

ôAccording to your records, you've never set foot in a classroom.ö Saito frowned at him.

Tony looked at him in confusion. ôSay what?ö

ôSchool isn't voluntary kid. You can skip high school if you want, but in this country, you're required by law to complete middle school. You can do what you like when you're legally an adult, but...truancy laws say I gotta make sure you're in classes.ö

The boy glared at him. ôHave you lost your mind? I'm a billionaire, I'm running a major corporation, I've got government contracts, scientific research centers, and...ö

ôYou've not even completed Middle School. Amazing accomplishments, really. Still, the law is the law.ö Kajura grinned at him.

Tony was dumbstruck. ôYou have got to be kidding me.ö

ôYeah. You used to be illegal. So, I can see how you missed all that school. Now that you're an upstanding legal citizen, well...ö Saito smiled at him.

ôI don't have time for this,ö growled the boy irritably.

Kajura shrugged. ôSo what? Like I said, the law and all.ö

The kid was absolutely livid. He glared at the pair. ôYou know I'm going to get out of this.ö

The older man shook his head. ôNah. I got a court order. I actually have to make you go. I got no choice in the matter, and neither do you.ö It was obvious he was really enjoying yourself.

Saito waved his hand. ôCome on, get in the car. We gotta cuff you, procedure and all. No hard feelings or anything, but you kinda irritated my partner.ö

Tony hung his head and growled as he allowed it. ôNah. I'll get him back for this later though.ö He looked over his shoulder. Kei was looking on with a blank expression on his face.

ôTony?ö

He shrugged. ôIt's nothing. They got me on something minor to irritate me.ö

ôWe aren't gonna hold him or anything,ö said Saito as he smiled at her. ôWe just gotta take him for a bit. He'll be home by dinner. It's nothing serious.ö

OooOOooOO

Three hours later, he was sitting in an office with a scowl on his face glaring at an old man sitting behind a desk. The old guy looked grumpy and had a set of glasses resting on his nose. ôHeh. You're not the first punk we've had dragged in here. What was it? A gang? Thought you were too good, too smart for an education? Think you're tough do you, having a scar makes you all cool and hip?ö

He looked up at the old man. ôI'm a billionaire, getting close to the Trillion yen mark. I'm running an entire corporation, and I...ö

The old man looked at him with a deep frown. ôFirst year.ö

The boy blinked. ôHuh?ö

ôThat's where we're putting you.ö He looked at the papers in front of him. It was an electronic test, the type where you filled in the dots. He'd taken an aptitude test. ôYour basic skills are up to a first year level, and your Japanese is abysmal. You can barely read. You did score exceptionally well in English. That's something I suppose.ö

ôI wonder why that might be?ö he groused. ôLook, old man. I'm...ö

ôHaving wealthy parents does not grant the ability to circumvent the law,ö stated the old man simply.

ôI don't have parents. I made every cent I've got myself. Look, I get this, but I don't have time for this crap. I think I've proven myself capable. I'm not some spoiled kid you know. I lived on the streets, earned every penny I've got. I don't need this, I've got a business to run, and people's livelihoods depend on me. I employ more than ten thousand people in Tokyo alone.ö

The old man shook his head. ôI see. I'm afraid that you're not getting out of this. I did not write our education laws into being. I live by them, and as a citizen of Japan, you must obey them.ö

Tony slumped back in his chair and rubbed at his temples. ôI don't believe this.ö He sat forward. ôLook, maybe we can work something out?ö

The old man frowned deeply. ôYou're not going to buy your way out of this, boy. The deal is simple, you attend classes, pass them, and when you complete the required courses, or come of age, you may leave. Just like every other child of your age in Japan.ö

ôI..ö Tony just sat there, unsure of what to say. ô...but...ö

The old man smirked at him. ôSo, Mr. Stark. Welcome to Tokyo Central Middle School. If you are truant to class, I am court ordered to report you to the Inspector who brought you in. He in turn, is required to bring you here and force you to attend classes. Even if he must cuff you to your desk and sit there with you. Is that understood?ö

The boy was absolutely pissed. ôI'm gonna get out of this. Just watch me.ö

The principal nodded. ôYou will try. I suggest you simply accept it.ö He actually seem pleased. ôI think you'll do well, once you adjust.ö

Tony hung his head. ôYeah. Sure.ö He didn't have time for school. His hands were full as it was.

The old man stood up. He was about the same height as the boy and smiled. ôI am Kochou Iwaza. You may call me Kocho.ö

ôThe only one I'm calling is my lawyer. There's got to be some way out of this,ö grumbled the boy.

The principal nodded. ôI assure you, it will prove fruitless.ö It seemed the boy was a pathological liar. He seemed confident and intelligent though. ôClasses begin at nine, but you should be here at eight thirty at the latest.ö

Tony looked at him and turned away. ôYeah. Whatever.ö

OooOOooOO

A short time later he was sitting in his car. He'd managed to get himself records of every sort, he even had a driver's license. Yet, somehow, getting school records had slipped his mind. ôWhat do you mean there's nothing you can do? There's got to be some sort of loophole. I mean, I'm running a corporation for fuck's sake! I'm rich by my own hand, and...huh?ö He scowled at the phone. ôYeah. I hear you.ö He hung it up. His lawyer had failed him, the court order was binding. His last shot to get out of it was acing that placement test he'd taken. He hadn't had the opportunity to prepare to cheat. He was officially screwed. ôShit.ö The boy sat behind a red light and glared at the traffic ahead. Mercifully, the next turn brought him into the garage to his offices.

Within ten minutes he was walking into his office and pacing back and fourth in the middle of the room.

ôTony?ö His wife walked out of the back room. She had been lying on the bed waiting for him to return and was watching television. In her hand was an empty glass. It was the only reason she'd noticed he had returned. ôAre...you all right?ö

He looked up at her and seemed angry. ôI'm fine.ö He continued to pace. ôThere's just gotta be a way...ö He'd tried a few of his government friends. They had all advised him that he should attend, as he was a role model for the youth of Japan, and that there was nothing they could do to get him out of his situation. ôUseless fucking lumps.ö

She put her hand on her hip and frowned. ôAll right. Who is trying to kill you this time?ö

He shook his head. ôDifferent problem.ö

She cocked her head. ôWhat is it? You look...upset.ö

The boy glared at her. ôThose two idiot cops. They found out I've got no schooling records. I'm being forced to attend Middle School by a court order.ö

Kei tried very hard. She really did, but it was too much. Within a few seconds she was lying on the floor and beating the ground with her fists. She was laughing herself to tears.

He glared at her. ôThis isn't funny. I don't have time for this crap!ö

She sat with her legs crossed and grinned at him. ôOh, come on. Is it that bad?ö

He rolled his eyes and threw his hands up. ôI'm hunting a murderous cyborg in a couple of days, evil demons from another dimension are trying to destroy the world, and I've got to run this company and keep all my businesses in order. Now, I've got to deal with going to class and having fucking homework too? No God damn way!ö

She tittered at his reaction and shook her head. ôOh. Stop. You'll be fine.ö

He stopped pacing and scowled. ôHow? I can barely keep it together as it is.ö

His wife stood up and walked over to put her arms across his shoulders to kiss his cheek. ôI can run things while you're in school you know. Don't forget, it's in my name anyway. We're partners, remember?ö

He nodded. ôYeah. I know. The business isn't going to destroy itself. It's the rest...ö

She shoved his chest. ôThat always happens at night. Hisami is dead, and you've had a lot of free time. Besides, between the clan and the senshi, we've had no real trouble. Once that cyborg thing is taken care of, what do you really have to worry about?ö

ôSpace demons from another dimension.ö He grumbled as he crossed his arms and pouted.

ôThe Senshi usually handle that stuff anyway. When was the last time you fought a Youma yourself? They're taking well to their training. They're very good at it.ö

Tony didn't let on that he felt any better. ôYeah. I guess.ö The senshi lived at the compound. He didn't see much of them though. They were up in the evenings, and he was usually up dealing with the business during the day. They did cross paths from time to time, but they were usually training. He could tell they were taking well to it, it complimented their powers. ôI haven't been keeping up with those girls like I should. I've been busy with other things.ö

Kei shook her head and poured herself a club soda with a lime half squeezed into it. ôThey're fine. I've been keeping an eye on it and going over the reports. The Youma are weak, and there's no sign of the leader. Between them and the so called 'Fantastic Four' there not having any trouble.ö

Tony gave a nod and continued to pout. ôIt's fucking irritating.ö

His wife smirked. ôI know. I passed Middle School though.ö

He glanced at her. ôI didn't know you were seventeen.ö

She chuckled. ôWhat, how old did you think I was?ö

Her husband just shrugged. ôI dunno, fifteen, maybe sixteen. No big deal, just didn't know and all.ö He looked at her. ôDoes the clan have a school?ö

The girl shook her head. ôSorry, only ninja arts are taught in the village. Everyone goes outside the village for academics. Maybe you should hire a private tutor?ö

ôHe can't.ö

ôWhy?ö muttered the boy without turning to face the new voice. ôIt should satisfy...ö

ôBecause you're court ordered to attend Tokyo Central Middle School. It's specified in the order. The judge is friends with the principal there, and he said he wanted to make sure you didn't buy your way out of it.ö A tall slender man in a neat suit and glasses with slicked back hair and a serious frown on his face walked into the room closing the door behind him.

The boy nodded. ôShit.ö

Kei smiled and waved at him. ôHey, Asigawa.ö She'd recommended the man. He was a former employee of Hisami, and she knew him well. A very serious minded and meticulous individual. He was very good at his job.

The man gave her a nod. ôKei. I hope you are both well.ö

The boy scowled and leaned against his desk with his arms crossed. ôWell, from what I've heard, if you can't find a loop hole, there isn't one.ö

He nodded. ôI'm afraid there's no way out of this. If you do not comply, a warrant will be issued for your arrest. I doubt they'd catch you, but still...ö

He hung his head. ôYeah. Not worth the trouble. I get it.ö He scratched at his head. ôI guess I feel a little better. I doubt everything is going to fall apart because I'm in school. Still, it's fucking annoying.ö

Despite his nature, his lawyer was not without a sense of humor. He smirked at that. ôI suggest just going with it. It won't pose any problems, we can keep things afloat while you deal with it. You're not required to attend beyond secondary school. three years isn't so long as you think. I doubt you'll find it very difficult.ö

Tony nodded. ôYeah. I'm gonna cheat my way to the middle of the class and stay there.ö

The man nodded and turned away to leave. ôI'll pretend I didn't hear that. Legal obligations and all.ö

His boss nodded. ôYeah. Sure thing.ö

Kei chuckled. ôI can't wait to tell Gia and Mei Lin.ö

He frowned at her. ôJust do it when I'm not around. I don't want to see them laughing at me.ö

She skipped to the bedroom. ôI think I'll call them now.ö

Tony slumped down behind his desk. He had peace and quiet for almost twenty minutes. Then his phone rang. He frowned at it and debated for a moment before picking it up and putting it up to his hear.

ôBWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! School? Really? They're...making you go to school?ö

ôHello, Gia,ö he growled.

ôIt is pretty funny. Wow. Really?ö said Mei Lin. It was apparently a conference call.

ôYeah,ö he muttered irritably.

Gia had another fit of giggles, and Mei Lin with her. ôWell, you did say you wanted to be normal and go to school.ö

He rubbed at the bridge of his nose and put his head back. ôYeah. I meant without the rest of the stuff still going on. I'm still not normal, and it's just irritating and in the way.ö

ôCan't argue with that,ö chimed Mei Lin.

ôYeah, yeah. Laugh it up.ö He stood up and went over to fix himself a glass of whiskey on the rocks. ôI'll live...I guess.ö

Gia chuckled. ôYeah. I know. Honestly, you're such a wuss complaining about having to go to school like everyone else. You're a smart kid, you'll be fine.ö

ôEven I went to school,ö said Mei Lin.

ôYeah, until I got you fake identity papers. Don't forget, your education level and age is just on paper, you brat.ö He smirked as the phone went very quiet.

After a moment the Chinese girl spoke up. ôOkay, I see your point.ö She gave a small sigh. ôWhy didn't you just do that for yourself?ö

ôNever occurred to me,ö he flopped down and set his drink on the table after taking a gulp. ôI didn't think anyone would bother with something like this.ö

Gia sounded amused, but her giggles had faded. ôWell, hindsight is twenty twenty.ö

ôDon't I know it. You've had your laugh, and now I have to be up in time for school tomorrow. Talk with the both of you later.ö

ôAll right,ö said the woman. She seemed satisfied and sounded a little smug.

He shifted the phone to the other side of his head. ôMei Lin. It's going down the day after tomorrow. Make sure you get some sleep, it's going to be a late night. Everything is finished, just a few details to be ironed out and some testing. They're taking care of all that tomorrow. Be ready.ö

ôA-all right,ö she said with a nervous shake in her voice.

ôRelax, you'll be fine,ö he said simply. ôLater.ö He hung up and sighed, taking another gulp from his drink. ôGreat. Fucking great.ö

Kei walked in with a smirk on her face. She had been listening in from the other room on the phone in there. ôWell, are you done sulking yet?ö

He raised his glass and turned in his chair to look out the window. ôNo, but I'm not completely pissed off about it anymore.ö

She walked around and tugged on his arm. ôFine. I've got something to make you feel better then.ö She kissed him and scratched at his chin as she broke off.

He looked away towards the window as she tugged on the front of his shirt. ôI guess.ö He wasn't resisting.

She tugged a little harder making him stumble a little. ôKnock it off would you? It will help you relax, and if I wait any longer you'll try to use that you've got to get up early as an excuse to get out of it.ö

He cocked his head. ôNah. I told ya, I'm totally gonna cheat. I'm a ninja and all remember?ö

She smirked at him and dragged him into the bedroom, shoving him onto the mattress before crawling on top of him. ôJust do the clan proud, and don't get caught.ö

He had a cocky grin on his face. ôOh, did a bit of cheating yourself did you?ö

She narrowed her eyes at him as she unbuttoned his shirt. ôOf course. I'm a shinobi too you know.ö

OooOOooOO

Minako gave a small sigh as she looked up at the moon. ôIt's pretty.ö She was standing on the road back to the village and looking up at the stars as she walked back to the compound. She was wearing a cloth mask that covered the bottom part of her face, and had her hair done up in a ponytail. All of the senshi with long hair had it styled that way. Each was wearing a mask made of the same color fabric as their skirts.

Ami gave a small sigh. ôI've almost forgotten what the sun looks like.ö

ôSuch is the life of a Shinobi,ö commented Mai with a shrug.

Aman chuckled. ôYes. It has been a while since we've seen daylight.ö

ôA fucking toaster,ö grumbled Makoto with a scowl on her face. ôI swear, these things are getting stupider and stupider.ö

Ami frowned at her. ôI'm still picking crumbs out of my uniform.ö

Minako rolled her eyes. ôI can't believe you guys are still on about that. I mean, they've always been that stupid. Remember the one that was a pitching machine?ö

Hito nodded. ôYes. I remember that one being quite horrible. After that mass of bodies it's been rather disappointing since.ö

Kenshi shrugged. ôI'm not complaining. Though, I have to admit, I never thought I'd end up fighting against a monster made out of hair dryers when I became a shinobi.ö

Mai gave a grunt. ôRight. We shouldn't complain, they've been annoying, but not difficult to destroy. It's a wonder the police can't handle them.ö

Ami shrugged. ôWell, they drain people's energy. We're immune because of our powers, and you guys have enough control of your own ki that you can resist it. The Youma have to wear us down before they can try to drain us.ö

Rei spoke up as she rolled onto the wooden walkway to meet them as they arrived at the mansion. ôWelcome back.ö She removed her headset.

ôHey, girls,ö chirped Luna as she trotted up. ôHave fun?ö

Makoto scowled at that. ôIf you consider fighting a giant toaster 'fun'. Yeah.ö

Artemis hopped up into Rei's lap. ôWell, you're all doing very well. I'm grateful for that.ö

Rei smiled. ôWhat did you do to that thing anyway? You never said, it had you pinned down with some sort of crumb attack, and then it was just over.ö

The brunette senshi scowled. ôIt almost blinded me, I'm still picking crumbs out of my uniforms, and got a bunch in my eyes.ö She was a bit red eyed.

Ami smiled. ôI threw a fire extinguisher into the heating elements in it's...um, body I guess. It exploded, and it was pretty easy to finish off after that.ö

Mai nodded. ôYeah. Aman was the only one who could get close to it because it was super heating the air and shooting giant pieces of toast at us.ö

The fire ninja frowned, he looked a bit greasy. ôIt covered me in butter. I haven't been able to use my powers because I'll start splattering scalding butter all over. I need a bath.ö

ôMe too,ö groused Makoto.

Mai shrugged. ôWe could all use one.ö

Minako gave a sigh. ôThis place is awesome, it's got it's own hot springs and everything.ö There were several on the mountain near the village, and the mansion had two behind it. They were partitioned off as male and female.

Ami hung her head. ôIt's not home though.ö

Rei gave a wistful smile. ôWell, we should make the best of it. We're fortunate to be here with all this help.ö

Aman nodded. ôRight. When this is over you girls can return to your families. Don't worry, it's our job to make sure that happens.ö

Mai hung her head. It was becoming easy to forget that they were just normal young girls a few months before. ôYes. Our fight is going well, sooner or later our enemy will be forced to confront us. Once it is finished...ö

ôYou'll still be the senshi. You'll never be normal again you know. You'll be able to go back to your families, but you'll all still have a duty to uphold.ö

The group turned and saw Tony looking at them. He had a towel over his shoulder and a bucket of toiletries under one arm. His hair was went, and he was coming from the direction of the springs. ôThe Negaverse is dangerous and needs to be dealt with, but...ö

ôBut?ö asked Minako in confusion. All of the girls were looking a bit surprised.

ôThere are other dangers in this world, and beyond. You can't just slack off and forget once this is over. I have no intention of breaking up this team.ö He smiled at them. ôYour identities will be safe from your enemies. You'll be able to live at home, and go to school again, but...you will always be the senshi. For the rest of your lives. You cannot ignore it, and you cannot forget or move on. From now on, this is who you are.ö

Ami scowled at that. ôI...ö

He looked at her and frowned. ôThis is more important. The senshi will be needed again. There will be times of peace, but you will be called upon to defend this world again, and there will be no one else who can do it for you.ö

The girl took a step back and hung her head. ôI have dreams of my own.ö

Makoto glanced at her friend. ôWhat about our lives?ö

The boy smirked. ôDo you not think I had dreams of my own as well?ö

They all looked up at him at once. The shinobi were silent and hung back, but paid attention.

Minako frowned. ôWhat? Are you kidding, I mean...you're...ö

Tony shook his head. ôThis is nothing like what I wanted from my life.ö

Rei growled. ôSo, we're stuck being the senshi for good?ö

The boy chuckled. ôOf course. You do not yet understand what Serenity sent you here for do you? It was not to fight and destroy Metallia. That is just something you need to overcome before your true purpose can be realized.ö

They all looked up at him in surprise again. Ami didn't look pleased and spoke in a forceful tone. ôNo. Why are we here then?ö

He smiled at her in an almost evil way. ôYou're here to revive the Moon Kingdom. To create the next one. Tsukino is the Princess of the Moon, and she is meant to take up the throne her mother left vacant once again. A new Crystal Kingdom that will prosper for thousands of years. That, is why you were reborn, not to fight this war.ö

Everyone was looking at him in shock. No one said a word and just stared at him.

He chuckled at their reaction and turned away. ôIt's already begun in case you haven't noticed. Just a matter of time now.ö

ôWait, what does that make you then?ö asked Rei. ôI mean, you're not her brother anymore, right? So, if she's the Queen, you won't be a prince or anything, right?ö

He paused and glanced over his shoulder with what looked like a forced pleasant smile. ôOh. I'm sure I'll find a way to make myself useful. Don't worry about that. You girls get some rest. Tomorrow is another day. He walked back to his room and sat on the porch outside his door. ôAh, that was more fun than it should have been.ö

Luna trotted up and sat down next to him. ôYou're a complete asshole.ö

Tony relaxed and looked up at the moon. ôThank you, I have my moments.ö

The cat glared at him. ôWhat are you up too?ö

He glanced at her. ôWhat? You think I want to be in charge or something?ö

Luna flattened her ears against her head. ôI know why you went and got that sword in your past life. The Queen was not pleased about it.ö

Tony looked at her. ôHuh? The sword?ö

She turned her head away. ôSo, you don't remember?ö

ôNot really,ö he shrugged. ôCare to share?ö

The Moon Cat gave a sigh. ôNo. You'll figure it out. You're still the Prince of the Moon you know, that sword ensures it. Even without a blood relation to Usagi.ö

He nodded and leaned back on his palms. ôYeah. I knew that part, didn't know the stupid sword had anything to do with it though. I'm gonna be a lazy prince, anything happens after this and the brat and her friends can take care of it.ö He didn't know about the Black Moon family or Galaxia, but had no intention of sticking his nose into it if he could help it. He'd provide help of course, but wasn't about to get dragged in personally. Just resources, and probably some ninja help. The 'Fantastic Four' was working well with them, and he saw no reason to mess with a good formula.

Of course, he wasn't so sure he'd be able to stay out of it. Probably not, but that didn't mean he wasn't going to try his best to avoid it.

Luna laid down next to him and looked up out of the corner of her eyes. ôI'm surprised you don't remember. You seem to know a lot. More than those girls for sure.ö

He frowned at her. ôYou make it sound like that sword is trouble.ö

The Moon Cat nodded. ôIt is. I agreed with you though. You'll have to figure it out for yourself though.ö

ôWhy?ö he scowled at her.

She sighed and rubbed her back against the side of the porch, scratching her shoulders. ôThat thing is more powerful than you think, but...if you want to be able to handle it, you need to remember for yourself.ö She paused and seemed to consider that. ôI think.ö

He didn't look entirely satisfied with that. ôOh well. It'll probably be a pain in the ass whatever it is.ö He looked down at her. ôWhy bother telling me?ö

ôWhy did you say all that to the Senshi?ö she countered.

He shrugged. ôTo annoy them. Made me feel better.ö

She gave him a toothy grin. ôOh, so you understand then?ö

The boy scowled at her but shrugged and laid back next to her with his hands behind his head. ôTouche.ö

She rolled back over and trotted away. ôWell, it was fun. See you later.ö

He gave a heavy sigh and stood up, turning towards his room. ôYeah. Later.ö He had to be up early the next day. He'd almost stayed at the office overnight, but wanted to check up on the senshi. He was leaving things in their hands for the time being. He scratched at the back of his head. ôI should look into hiring a tutor for them. Ami would probably like that, but it'll irritate the rest of them.ö After all, why should he be the only one stuck with homework. Besides, however spiteful his reasoning was, it was something they really couldn't complain about. It also made him feel a bit better about his own fate.

OooOOooOO

It was about a month into the school year. The days were warm and it was the very end of April. Tokyo central was a large three story building. There was a wall around it, and a large grassy area with a concrete walkway leading to a small set of wide stairs to the doors. An auditorium was nestled up against the side of the building on the grounds as well. It wasn't far from Akihabara, but off the main bustle of the busy streets in a more residential area.

It wasn't a delinquent school, but it wasn't top tier education either. Most of the students were normal kids, with a spattering of tough punks, nerds, and the usual assortment of students. A perfectly average school in almost every way. It was a little run down, but not old and busted. Just well worn with years of use, the school itself was about forty years old, but the building was twenty five years old.

Tony Stark scowled at the open gates. He had a briefcase style book bag hanging off his fingers over his right shoulder. It had a strap for putting it over one of his shoulders as well, but it was hanging loosely behind him. He was dressed in dark blue paints, white tennis shoes, a white shirt, and a button up blue coat. The typical schoolboy uniform. ôI hate being a goddamn manga character,ö he groused under his breath. His clothes itched, they were new and hadn't been worn in yet. ôI bet this place is fucking weird as hell for some reason.ö

He walked in and looked around, halfway expecting some sort of martial arts fight to break out in front of him. It didn't happen though, and he wandered in with the student body. He got a few odd looks, he appeared to be the only white kid there. It made him easy to pick out. No one approached him and he walked right into the building.

His room number was 1-G. There were wooden desks with cheap metal legs, and lift up writing surfaces. They wood was mostly smooth, aside from a few chipped edges. There was no graffiti or more than small superficial scratches on them. An American class room would have had small writings and lewd carvings at various places on the desks. He looked about, a few students were standing about the room talking in small groups, but most hadn't arrived yet. It was only eight fifteen in the morning. He'd had to leave at six to make it from the compound, and expected he'd be spending a lot of nights in his office. It would let him sleep in an extra two hours if he did.

The teacher's desk was at the front of the room, and instead of a chalk board, there was a white board, with several markers and an eraser in the tray along the bottom. There was also a roll down projection screen above the board, with a clock just above it. The desk was off to the right a bit towards the windows.

A few students were looking at him and whispering, but he was largely ignored. There was a man sitting behind the desk. He was young and had on a pair of thin rimmed glasses. The man had a pleasant air about him and seemed relaxed and peaceful. He stood up as he noticed the boy and gave a short bow in greeting. ôOh. Hello, you must be Mr. Stark.ö

The boy nodded and returned the polite gesture. ôYeah. I'm supposed to start today.ö The teacher seemed pleased to see him. ôCall me Tony. I'm a gaijin and all.ö

The man seemed surprised. ôYou shouldn't say that. Americajin would be best. Gaijin is...kind of a rude word. Your Japanese is very good, that's good.ö

The kid smirked at that. ôI'm local. Never been anywhere but Japan. I'm used to gaijin, I'm not even sure if I'm American at all, for all I know I'm German or French.ö He didn't have parents on that world, and didn't feel like explaining why not. It was just easier to say he never knew them. ôProbably American though.ö

The man seemed to understand what was implied. ôAh. I see. Well, that should make things easier then. You should be well adjusted to the culture I would think.ö He crossed his arms and kept his pleasant smile. ôSo, Tony then?ö

ôYeah. Only people who work for me call me Mr. Stark. It's a bit weird having a teacher call me that I guess.ö The boy shrugged and looked around.

The teacher blinked at that. ôWork for you?ö

The kid nodded. ôI'm the CEO of Stark Enterprises, and I'm Spiderman.ö

The man chuckled at that. ôI see you're a bit of a joker. Well, I'm Mr. Kanzaki. I'll be your home room teacher. You'll spend most of the day with me.ö

Tony smiled. ôWell, it's nice to meet you, sensei. Where should I be?ö

He didn't notice a girl walk into the room and freeze in place. She stopped in the doorway and stopped in the middle of a conversation with two other girls. She had shoulder length black hair in a ponytail on the left side of her head.

ôHey, Aya, what's with you?ö said one of the girls in confusion. She was a curly haired brunette with a short stubby nose and lazy looking eyes.

The other girl seemed to notice her attention. ôHey. Who's that?ö She had curly black hair that hung down her back and over her left eye. She was a bit on the hefty side, but not really fat.

The first girl worked her jaw and shook her head. ôI um...know that guy. Excuse me.ö She walked over to the scene. ôKanzaki sensei...ö

The teacher smiled at her. ôAh, Anagaki, I'll be with you in a moment. We have a new student.ö

The girl nodded. ôI know sensei, I know him.ö

Tony arched his eyebrow and looked at her. ôYou do?ö

The girl blushed and nodded. ôWe...live in the same neighborhood, Stark-samma.ö She gave a pretty deep bow, but didn't bend all the way over.

Tony blinked and cocked his head. ôOh. Bit of a trip here, isn't it?ö

The girl nodded and didn't look him in the eyes. ôYes, Stark-samma. There's a few of us from the neighborhood who come here. We take the rail most of the way.ö

The boy gave a small sigh. ôTony, and no samma. Just san or kun or something. We're classmates and all.ö

ôOh. I couldn't. Stark-sempai.ö The girl looked surprised.

ôPlease, use Tony. I'm not Japanese, you don't need to use my family name. Really,ö he replied with a small shake of his head. ôSempai is fine, I guess.ö

Kanzaki seemed pleased. The boy was getting the general idea that he was a rather upbeat person. ôOh. That's good. Switch seats with Kensuke then, and you can help him acclimate to the school.ö

The girl nodded. ôYes. I'll show him around, Sensei.ö

The man nodded and smiled, it was obvious he thought the girl had a crush on the boy. ôAll right. Show him where he'll be sitting.ö He looked at his new student. ôWe'll introduce you to everyone at the beginning of class.ö

The girl walked over to a pair of desks and motioned with her hand. ôYou can sit here, Sempai.ö

He took the seat and she sat behind him. The room was starting to fill up. He was the oldest kid in the room. Everyone else was about twelve or thirteen, and most of them were grouped into clicks. He looked back over his shoulder. ôAnyone else from the village in this class?ö

Aya shook her head. ôNo, Sempai. It's just us. There are two others in our grade, and three more in the school. Uria is the oldest. She's a third year. Maki and Kato are both in our year, and Mahana and Agita are both second years. They probably won't try to talk with you, we're supposed to avoid hanging around together outside the village.ö

ôHey, Aya, who's this guy?ö asked the heavyset curly haired girl who had come in with her.

ôYeah. You know this guy?ö asked the brunette, she was a bit of a bean pole.

The kunoichi flushed a bit. ôThis is, um, Tony-sempai.ö She looked at him. ôThese are my friends, Ina,ö she pointed at the curly haired brunette, ôand Umi,ö she indicated the heavy set girl.

The girls both gave small awkward bows. ôSempai?ö muttered the brunette girl in confusion.

ôHe...lives nearby to where I do,ö said Aya simply.

Tony nodded. ôYeah. Same neighborhood and all.ö

The black haired girl frowned at him. ôWhat's with the sempai?ö

The boy shrugged. ôHer family works for me.ö

The short haired girl looked at him with wide eyes and blushed. ôUm, yes.ö

Umi narrowed her eyes. ôDon't you mean they work for your parents?ö

Tony shook his head. ôNo. I don't have parents. They work for me.ö

ôDoing what? Aya says her dad is in construction,ö asked Ina.

ôYeah,ö agreed Umi.

The boy nodded. ôI own a construction company.ö He did too, though he was pretty sure Aya's father didn't work there.

The heavy set girl rolled her eyes. ôYeah, right.ö

ôCome on, Aya, what's really going on? How do you know this guy?ö asked her skinny friend.

The girl turned pink and sank into her chair. ôHe's...not joking.ö

The two girls seemed to get annoyed and obviously didn't believe a word of it. ôCome on, maybe she'll tell us later?ö grumbled Umi. They both walked over to where they used to sit. The pair was next to each other, and an empty desk was in front of them.

Aya looked a bit embarrassed. ôSempai, you...should really come up with a better cover story.ö

He looked at her. ôCover story? What do I need one of those for? I'm a billionaire CEO. I'll bet you and the others from the village aren't the only ones who have family who work for me here. I doubt it's everyone, but still.ö He sat back. ôWhy do you come all the way out here anyway? It's pretty far away. There's a couple of places closer.ö

The girl nodded and leaned forward. ôIt's so there aren't too many of us at any one school. Just makes it easier to keep things quiet I guess.ö

Tony frowned. ôI'm stuck going here by a court order. I should build a school for the village though. I'm kind of surprised there isn't one.ö

Aya seemed confused. ôHakage-sensei says it's so we interact with normal people. See what it's like outside the village. So we can interact with normal people better. That's why we're not supposed to hang around each other much here. We won't get in trouble, but we're encouraged to socialize with the other students rather than each other.ö

The boy thought about that. ôI guess that makes sense now that I think about it. I'll ask him about it later. I haven't seen much of him lately.ö He saw him pretty regularly, but the conversations were normally short. He was very busy, and oversaw the ninja training of the younger shinobi in the village. He was basically the principal of the ninja academy. The young shinobi went to outside schools for their academic education. He supposed it made sense when it was put the way she had.

Tony looked up and saw a burly looking boy with a frown on his face looking down at him. ôHuh? Aya, what are you doing in my seat?ö He had spiky black hair and seemed calm and rather relaxed.

The girl looked up at him. ôSensei asked me to look after the new student, so he moved you over to my old seat. Sorry.ö

The new boy nodded. ôOh. I see.ö He shuffled off and didn't seem to care much.

ôThat must be Kensuke?ö asked Tony.

Aya nodded. ôYeah. He's quiet, but he's on a couple of sports teams. We're not permitted to join sports teams, and we're supposed to avoid doing too well in Physical Education. I'm in the Go and Shogi club.ö

He arched his eyebrow and nodded. ôIs that one club, or two?ö

She shrugged. ôJust one. We do both, and sometimes we got to small competitions. We're not that good, and it's pretty fun.ö

Tony nodded. ôI don't have time for clubs. It's driving me nuts just being here for classes. I've got no intention of hiding that I'm awesome though. I don't really care anymore to be honest.ö

He looked up and saw a surprised looking boy. The first non-Japanese person he'd seen. It was a boy with blond hair that went down to his jaw. He had blue eyes and seemed surprised. ôHello, you must be new?ö

Tony nodded, the boy had an accent, but it wasn't American. ôYeah. I'm Tony Stark.ö

ôI'm Gunther Isendorf,ö the boy smiled and extended his hand.

The new student took his hand and shook it. ôYeah. Nice to meet you.ö He was only mildly interested. ôYou're German?ö

The boy grinned and shook his head. ôWell, my name is. I'm British by birth though.ö

Tony smiled a bit more and sat up. ôOh. You speak English then?ö He switched to his native tongue.

ôThat's right,ö said the boy with a very British accent. ôAmerican then? I couldn't tell, your Japanese is very good.ö

The new boy shrugged. ôNah. I learned from one. I'm local actually. Never been anywhere but Japan.ö

That caught the foreigner off guard. ôOh? Really? Your English is very good then. Well, as good as American English can sound to a Brit.ö

Tony chuckled. ôI learned young.ö

Aya was confused, she'd picked up a few words here and there, and pretty much ignored the conversation.

Gunther smiled. ôWell, I'm the only other white person here. My parents moved here a few years ago. Dad works as a corporate accountant.ö He leaned into his desk facing backwards. ôEveryone calls me Gun by the way.ö

ôJust Tony. They don't have much trouble pronouncing it.ö He leaned back and seemed very casual.

The blond boy nodded. ôYes. Everything after Gun confounds them. I usually introduce myself as Gun around here. It's just easier on them, and me. I don't want to sound rude, but some of the things they've done to my name have almost physically hurt my ears.ö He looked up at the front of the class. ôKanzaki is here early today. Must have come in early because of you. He usually doesn't show up until right before the bell.ö

The brunette boy nodded. ôWell, what's it like here? Anything weird about this place I should know about?ö

The British boy shook his head. ôNo. It's pretty normal. Avoid the Black Serpents. A gang of bullies and thugs. Expect some of the students to be a little rude.ö

Tony chuckled. ôI've lived here a while. I know what you mean by that.ö

Gun smiled. ôYes. They can be a bit racist. Have thick skin about it and you'll be all right.ö

The new boy frowned a little. ôBlack Serpents?ö

The blond shook his head. ôIt's easy to spot the toughs. They tend to walk around looking like thugs. I'm sure you know what I mean. They don't like foreigners. You'll hear gaijin a lot around here when they know the teachers can't hear you. Might hear it from a few faculty as well, but they're more reserved. Anyway, most of the thugs are in a sort of band, I wouldn't even call it a gang really, just a loose collection of jerks called the Black Serpents. It's best to avoid them. There's a few individuals who won't be associated with them about as well that are just as bad. Most students don't care enough to bother me though. The jerks will come looking for trouble though. I can usually dodge it, but I've gotten banged up a bit if you catch my drift. Nothing serious, but it's annoying.ö

Tony nodded. ôYeah. I can deal with it, I'm used to it anyway.ö

The teacher stood up as a final bell started. Most of the desks in the room were filled, with a couple at the back of the room empty. ôAll right. Good morning class.ö

Everyone stood up and bowed as the man grinned and walked in front of the board. They all greeted him with good morning in return. Tony remained silent, but stood and bowed with everyone else. Everyone took their seats again and the man smiled. ôAs some of you may notice, we have a new student today.ö He motioned to the new student and he stood up and walked up to the front of the room. ôHe's actually not a foreign exchange student, and has lived in Japan his whole life. I'll let him introduce himself and tell us a bit about himself.ö

ôI'm Tony Stark.ö He bowed to the class. ôJust call me Tony.ö He paused and considered for a moment what else he should say. His mind said 'fuck it'. ôI'm the President and CEO of Stark Enterprises, and...ö Again, his brain gave a shrug 'what the hell'. ô...I'm Spiderman.ö

There was a collective blank stare from the room.

Kanzaki gave a loud laugh. Aya had tensed up and had a shocked expression on her face. Everyone else was just confused. ôThat's very funny, you're quite the joker,ö said the teacher.

Tony looked at him. ôI'm not kidding.ö

The man went quiet and cocked his head. ôOh. Well, take your seat and the lesson will begin.ö

Aya leaned forward. ôWhat are you doing?ö

He glanced back. ôWhat? It's true.ö

Gun furrowed his eyebrows and looked at him. ôHuh? What do you mean?ö

Tony looked around and noticed everyone was giving him glances. Not all at once, but most of the room was peering at him as if he was crazy. ôWhat? I'm serious.ö

ôYou can't just tell people about that,ö said Aya in a hissed whisper.

ôSure I can, I just did.ö Tony didn't seem to think it was odd in the slightest.

ôWell, when word gets around that you said that...ö muttered Gun.

The other boy shrugged. ôYeah. So what? I'm Tony Stark, might as well go with it.ö

That confused the English boy and he shook his head. ôYour funeral, it's a bit late to take it back now.ö

Stark nodded. ôYeah. I know. I guess I'm just sick of bothering with hiding it. It's kind of a pain in the ass, and well. I'm Tony Stark.ö It worked for Iron Man, and he didn't really give a shit anymore. Everyone who was trying to kill him or annoy him knew about it already anyway. There really was no point in hiding it as far as he was concerned.

ôSempai, are you crazy?ö hissed Aya as she gawked at him.

The boy nodded. ôKind of. You don't really end up a guy like me if you're not a little nuts.ö

Tony was sitting on the rooftop of the school with a bento in his lap. He was eating his lunch, he'd bought it at the cafeteria and was sitting with Gun, Aya, and her two friends. The group was filling him in on the general social structure of the school. The lunch period had started about ten minutes before, and most of the group had brought their own.

The new boy noticed a shadow looming over him, and that everyone around him had moved away. ôSorry,ö muttered Gun sheepishly as he slid off to the side.

ôHey, new kid,ö growled an angry sounding voice.

Tony hopped up as several rocks and a bit of dirt hit where he was sitting. He ended up balancing on the rail on the roof of the school and frowned at the newcomers. It was three boys, all of them looked to be second or third years. The one in front had a bokkan on his shoulder and his coat was hanging off his shoulders loose. His shirt was unbuttoned, and he had bandages wrapped around his torso, despite looking uninjured. His hair was brushed back, but not greasy looking. He was tall, but not bulky, and fit. ôHey, careful. You almost ruined my lunch.ö

ôI'm gonna ruin your face, you gaijin punk. What the hell are you doing in my school?ö growled the boy.

ôStupid gaijin, thinks he's Spiderman I heard,ö said a freckled brunette boy with what looked like a permed pompadour.

The third tough was a very large boy. His build was a bit like Spike's, but his jaw was less squared. He had stubble on his chin and upper lip, but it was patchy and not developed yet. ôYeah. That shit ain't funny.ö

The leader nodded. ôYeah. Everyone knows Spiderman is Japanese.ö

Tony pointed his chopsticks at himself. ôI'm Japanese. Never even been to another country.ö

ôYou ain't Japanese, Gaijin!ö snapped the freckled pompadour.

The new boy gave a small sigh. ôMan, this is lame. I mean, how much of a stereotype can you be?ö He continued eating his lunch as he balanced on the rail and looked at them in irritation.

The leader grinned and pointed his wooden sword at him. ôTake back what you said and maybe I'll only hurt you a little.ö

ôTake back what?ö asked the first year boy as he continued to eat. He didn't seem worried.

ôYou said you was Spiderman didn't you?ö snapped the large boy.

Tony nodded as he munched and swallowed. ôI am Spiderman.ö

ôGaijin punk, you are so dead,ö snapped the leader. ôCome down here.ö

ôWhy should I?ö grumbled the boy as he continued to balance with ease. ôDon't you have some truancy to be doing, or maybe some old ladies to hassle? Go beat up some nerd and take his lunch money or something and screw off.ö

The lead boy growled and tried to grab the younger boy off the railing. He missed though as Tony simply hopped to the side and a bit further down the railing.

Aya looked less than surprised and sighed. ôI give up.ö

Gun looked both fascinated and horrified. ôThat guy is nuts!ö

Umi looked shocked. ôHe'll be killed!ö

ôHe could fall off the roof!ö agreed Ina.

Aya just continued to eat her lunch as she stood nearby. ôIt wouldn't matter if he did.ö She had a bit of a lazy eyed disinterest in the whole affair. ôHe won't though.ö

Everyone around her, including a few students that weren't in the group looked at her. ôWhat do you mean?ö gasped Umi.

ôYeah. Ashima is going to kill him. Even I've never seen him so pissed!ö Gun was definitely surprised at her attitude. He'd had run ins with the boy before. It had gone badly for him, and he'd gotten a bloody nose and a few bruises. He hadn't fought back, and the group lost interest. Eventually leaving him alone as long as he didn't call attention to himself.

The short haired girl gave a sigh. ôI told you I know that guy. Ashima better hope he doesn't get mad. He's just playing with him now.ö

Tony was hopping around on the railing, eating his lunch in a casual manner as the angry boy swung the weapon at him and made grabs and shoves at him. He was always just out of reach. The boy's two friends were looking on in a sort of dumbstruck surprise.

The new boy paused and the angry punk lunged a stab at him. Rather than jump to the left or right, the strange boy just landed behind him lightly. ôYou know, I'm trying to eat my lunch.ö

The enraged boy spun around, but his target just ducked under the swing from the weapon, and then shifted sideways, still eating his lunch. The punk snarled in rage, hacking and slashing with his weapon. Still, his opponent was just out of reach, and taking mouthfuls of food as if he was sitting at a park bench and enjoying a picnic lunch. He chewed deliberately and stood up straight as the upset boy ended up bent over and gasping for breath.

Tony wasn't even looking at him and shoved a sushi roll into his mouth ôAre you done yet?ö

ôDon't just stand there, you idiots! Get him!ö snapped the lead punk as he gasped.

The walking tank reared his arm back and swung it down towards the strange boy's head. Tony left his chopsticks poked into his rice and caught the boy's fist with what appeared to be no real effort. He bent his back as the other boy produced a chain and took a swing at his face.

ôYou're only making it worse for yourself,ö growled the brunette pompadour.

The large boy had backed off, and was looking at his own fist with wide eyes. ôHuh. Didn't figure him for the smart one,ö commented Tony as he turned sideways to avoid the chain and caught the bokkan as the other boy tried to hit him from behind with between his fingers. He looked at him and frowned. ôYou should work on your grip.ö With a casual twist of his fingers the lead punk was disarmed. ôYou telegraph your strikes as well. I hope you're not a member of the Kendo club. You kind of suck.ö

ôYou punk! He's the captain!ö snarled the remaining punch as he charged him while twirling his chain. She slid to a stop as he found the tip of the wooden blade pointed at his nose. The strange boy wasn't even looking at him and was focused on Ashima.

ôA pity,ö replied the gaijin as he smirked at the gawking boy. The leader of the group was on one knee, gasping for breath and looking at the new boy with wide eyes. ôHe won't be winning any competitions with such sloppy swordsmanship.ö

ôWho...who the hell are you?ö growled the humiliated punk in shock.

Tony pulled the blade away from the other punk's nose. The kid had been trying to shift out of the way by moving to one side or the other, and despite the fact that the new boy had never even looked at him, he'd kept it pointed dead at the middle of his face. He tossed the weapon back to it's owner. ôI already told you. I'm Tony Stark. Now get lost, I want to eat in peace.ö

Aya looked unimpressed and clapped in a somewhat sarcastic manner. ôBravo, Sempai.ö

The boy started eating his lunch again and walked up to the group. ôWhat? Am I annoying you?ö

She shook her head. ôNot really. I guess I'm confused.ö

ôWow, that was impressive. You do martial arts?ö said Gun with a grin on his face.

ôI'll say,ö muttered Umi in shock.

ôWow. That was cool. He's cute and all, but Ashima is a jerk,ö said Ina.

Tony smiled at the English boy. ôAnd I have super powers.ö

Aya hung her head. ôI thought that was supposed to be a secret or something?ö

The boy shrugged at her. ôDidn't work out. The evil jerks all found out anyway, so I just gave up on that recently.ö

Gun frowned. ôNow, that was impressive, but...you don't expect us to really believe that you're...ö

The short haired girl gave a small sigh. ôHe is Spiderman. I told you I know him.ö

Tony leaned against the railing again. ôI'm rich too. Got my own corporation and everything.ö

The large boy who had been with the punks walked over scratching the back of his head. He had wide eyed expression on his face. ôYou...you're serious...aren't you?ö

The new boy continued to pick at his lunch. ôKind of, yeah. I'm not going to hold a press conference about it or anything, but not telling people hasn't really worked out very well. So, I just gave up.ö

ôYou might as well have, Sempai,ö muttered Aya as she crossed her arms.

ôI'm Kego,ö said the large boy with a bit of reluctance. ôNo hard feelings or anything? I don't want no trouble. Ashima is my friend, I was just helpin him out cause of that.ö

ôHi,ö said the new student. ôNah. I'm actually kind of lazy. I wouldn't bother with a bunch of middle school punks. It's not really fair.ö

Kego nodded. ôHow...how did ya do that anyway? I'm a big guy, and I punched ya really hard. Ya stopped it like it was nuthin.ö

Tony shrugged. ôI can pick up a car and lift it over my head.ö He picked at the last sushi roll in his bento and finished off the rice. With a flick of his wrist, it bounced off the outside of a garbage can and hit the gravel. ôRats.ö

The large boy got a bit wide eyed. ôOh. Well, see ya. I won't cause ya no more trouble.ö

The new student turned and saw the group he'd been hanging around with were all looking at him with wide eyes and dumbstruck expressions. ôWhat? Knock it off would you? Jeeze.ö

Aya looked a bit annoyed. ôSempai...what about not being noticed?ö

He frowned at her and cocked his head back a little. ôI'm a billionaire CEO attending a middle school. I'm also white in a sea of Asians, and a magnet for weird dangerous things. I stick out like a sore thumb, and I seriously doubt 'not being noticed' was going to last a week anyway.ö

ôB-billionaire?ö muttered Gun in shock. Umi and Ina were too dumbstruck to say anything.

Tony shrugged. ôYeah. It's Yen though, not as impressive as it sounds. If it was the same thing in Pounds. I'd just be a Millionaire.ö He walked over and picked up the cheap plastic bento, throwing it in the trash. He dusted off his hands as he turned back and smiled at the group. ôWell, we've still got about twenty minutes of lunch left, what do you usually do?ö

Gun scratched his cheek. ôI dunno, hang around and talk? I guess.ö He didn't usually hang around with Aya and her two friends. Seeing another foreigner attending was a bit of a relief. He didn't really hang around with anyone.

ôPretty much, Sempai,ö grumbled Aya as her eye twitched a little.

OooOOooOO

Tony gave a small sigh as he sat in front of a firm looking man. He sort of looked like his lawyer, but a bit bulkier. He looked annoyed and cocked his head. ôFighting?ö The man was the Dean, and he'd been called to his office about ten minutes after the incident on the roof. Classes hadn't started yet again, but the rest of his lunch break was going to be gone.

The Dean scowled. ôWe've not met yet. I'm Dean Gakuri. There is no fighting in my school. I do not tolerate it on campus.ö

The boy shrugged. ôIt was just a bit of hazing I guess. Nobody got hit or anything. Plenty of witnesses, you can just ask.ö

Gun was sitting next to him. ôIt's...true sir.ö He looked sheepish and didn't look the man in the eyes.

Tony was relaxed and direct. ôNo problem really. Just a couple of guys trying to be intimidating. I don't want to get anyone in trouble, it's my first day and all.ö

The man narrowed his eyes. ôIt was reported to me that you attacked a few students on the roof of the school. Including the Captain of the Kendo Club.ö

ôTotal crap. I never touched anyone. Just ask anyone who was there,ö replied the new boy.

Gun nodded. ôIt's true sir. I saw the whole thing. Aya, Umi, and Ina from G-1 were there as well. They saw the same thing I did. Nobody got hit or anything.ö

ôJust some guys acting tough and talking big. Nothing to worry about,ö said Tony as he agreed.

Gakuri narrowed his eyes and kept his frown. ôVery well. I'll be watching you though. I won't put up with any foolishness on my campus.ö

ôSure thing. I'm a laid back kind of guy.ö Tony just gave a shrug and seemed unconcerned.

Gun was nervous, but didn't seem dishonest. ôReally, sir. It was nothing.ö

The man stood up. ôAll right. You can both go to class.ö

ôTold ya, nothing to worry about,ö said Tony as they walked out of the office.

OooOOooOO

The last class of the day for the first year students was P.E. Half of the floor was grouped together, with the other half taking the class the next day.

Tony was standing in the middle of a large ring of students. He had his arms behind his back and looked rather bored. A group of about twenty boys was in a ring around him, lugging a large red ball at him. He dipped, shifted, and avoided it with minimal effort. He was standing in one spot, and never took more than a step in any direction to avoid it. He wasn't even looking at most of the shots, and just gave a glazed stare in one direction. Most of the shots were avoided just by arching his back or twisting a little.

The others in the class were doing their best to nail him. Some with more force than others, but everyone missed. He'd played dodge ball before, but it had never been so easy. He was barely even trying. The group of boys weren't all panting or gasping for breath, but several had become rather frustrated in their attempts to nail him. Gun was standing there and not even trying to catch the ball. He'd taken a few shots himself, but gave up, and didn't try to bean him with it. He'd gotten a few good hits landed on him, but the boy in the middle had proven an impossible target for the entire class.

The instructor was a barrel chested man with chest hair poking out of the top of his zip up sweatshirt. He had a bit of a beer gut, but wasn't exactly obese either. ôAll right. That's enough.ö His name was Zuneda, and he taught all the boys P.E. classes, with his wife instructing the girl's classes. She wasn't a small woman, but was hardly mannish or obese. She was in a nearby field playing softball with the girls class. Some of the boys who had been tagged out were looking over at the class as they played.

Tony had worked up a light sweat, but little more. ôOh. We're done?ö He looked over and reached his hand up to catch the ball as one of the frustrated students had been the last to have it, and had to try one more shot. He picked it out of the air casually and stuck it under his arm. ôCool, now what?ö

The last twenty minutes of the class were spent playing soccer. Tony sucked on the field. He had no experience with the game, and wasn't exactly great with his feet. After about three minutes he was pulled from the field by the coach. Another five minutes of sitting on the sidelines with a few other students and the man looked down at him. ôStark, you're up.ö He blew a whistle and pointed at the goalie of one side and jerking his thumb to the sidelines. ôThat's enough, Amida. We've got to give the other side a chance.ö

Tony took the position, and nothing got by him. Without having to keep control of the ball, and having the ability to use his hands, he'd done very well. The students weren't exactly professional players, but neither was he.

After a while, the coach blew the whistle to end the class. ôAll right, hit the showers.ö The man stopped Tony and looked down at him. ôYou should try out for a sports team.ö

The boy blinked and frowned. ôSorry. I've got a job. I really can't stay at school for any extra curricular stuff.ö

The man scowled at that. ôYou've got talent. You shouldn't waste it.ö

Tony smiled at him. ôI don't, I'm using it to reap real world benefits. I really don't have time. I'm afraid I won't be joining any clubs or teams.ö

The man shook his head. ôWell, think about it.ö

OooOOooOO

Tony gave a sigh as he found himself in yet another office. The principal this time. ôIt's come to my attention that you've not chosen a club or sports team.ö

ôLook, old man. I explained this already. I honestly don't have time for school, much less some kind of club or sports team. I've got responsibilities and obligations outside of school.ö The boy was annoyed.

The principal ignored him. ôWe encourage all our students to join. It broadens their horizons and expands their minds as well as bodies into new worlds beyond basic education.ö

ôRunning a corporation expands my mind plenty,ö grumbled the boy irritably. ôNo clubs. I'm only here because I'm court ordered to be here, I'm rich. I don't need school anymore. I could retire tomorrow and never work another day in my life.ö

The old man narrowed his eyes. ôYou must take your education seriously.ö

Tony hung his head. ôI take my job seriously. That's enough. It's plenty educational having a real world job. I have friends at work, I don't need socialization training. I don't need to learn responsibility, I'm responsible enough to handle real world business deals and government contracts. No damn clubs.ö

The principal gave a heavy sigh. ôWell, think about it for a while.ö

Tony left the office and growled. ôWhat the hell is wrong with these people? What part of 'no' do they not understand?ö He paused as he found Gun, Umi, Ina, and Aya standing outside. ôOh. Hey.ö

ôSchool is over, we're all heading home, Sempai.ö said the short haired girl cheerfully. ôAre you coming back, Sempai?ö

He shook his head. ôI'll probably be staying at the office while I'm in school most of the time. It's closer. I want to catch up on what I've missed being here all day anyway. I'm not going to stay there every night, but honestly, I probably won't be going back to the neighborhood much while I'm going to school here. It's just easier this way, and my work is pretty much all here in town lately.ö

She nodded at that. ôOh. Okay.ö She seemed a little disappointed, but not much.

Gun smiled. ôWe'll have to hang out some time. I'm not far from here either.ö

Tony smiled and nodded. ôWell, I'm pretty busy. We'll get together sometime, but I'm afraid I can't hang out much outside of school. I spend a lot of time working, I really don't have time to come to school, but I got court ordered, so I'm stuck now. Not even my legal team could get me out of it.ö

ôCourt ordered?ö muttered Umi in confusion.

ôA judge made you come to school?ö gasped Ina in shock.

Aya shrugged as she looked back at their questioning glances. ôNews to me. I've never really hung around him much. I've just seen him around the neighborhood. I told you, my family works for Sempai.ö

ôHuh.ö Gun seemed a little disappointed as well. ôWe'll have to do something some weekend, or during a break.ö He didn't seem upset about it.

Tony nodded. ôYeah. I'm sure I can find a bit of time on a holiday or something. I'm not trying to sound rude, you all seem pretty cool. It's just, my plate is fuller than you think. I was swamped as it was, and school isn't exactly making things easier.ö They walked out of the doors to the school onto the grounds.

Students were milling about, parting ways, and moving off outside the gates. They all noticed a very large group, mostly boys were hanging around by the street just outside the gates.

ôWonder what's that about?ö muttered Gun.

ôWho knows?ö muttered Tony with disinterest. They all moved to the gates together.

ôWow, what kind of car is that?ö

ôWhat's your number?ö

ôAre you here to see someone?ö

ôI think I'm in love!ö

ôWhat are your measurements? For the school paper I mean?ö

ôWho is that?ö

ôShe looks like a total tramp!ö

ôWhat a babe!ö

Tony narrowed his eyes at the thick crowd. It was boys from every age group in the school, twelve to about fifteen. ôWhat's...ö

ôTony!ö called a familiar voice. ôHey, out of the way.ö

The boy blinked and looked surprised. ôKei? What are you doing here?ö She hopped up and grabbed him around his neck, lifting her legs in the air. She was wearing a tube top, and a pair of cut off shorts with high heels. She had been lounging on the hood of his car waiting on him.

ôWho is that?ö muttered Gun in awe.

Aya shrugged. ôThat's Tony Sempai's wife.ö

ôWhat?ö said a very large number of people in the immediate vicinity.

ôYer kidding? Her?ö

Kei blinked and looked around. She ignored the reaction otherwise and smiled at her husband. ôI came to pick you up.ö

ôGood afternoon Kei-samma,ö said Aya as she bowed.

ôOh, hello,ö she didn't know her name, but recognized her face. ôYou attend here?ö

Tony nodded. ôYeah. She's been looking out for me today. We're in the same class.ö

Umi gasped. ôOh. Aya's secret crush is married?ö

Ina looked disappointed for her friend. ôOh. How tragic, yet, somehow romantic.ö

The short haired girl glared at them. ôHe is not my 'secret crush'. I barely know him.ö She looked at Tony and bowed. ôEr, no offense.ö

He shrugged and grinned at her.

Gun gave a small sigh. ôWow. I'm impressed.ö

The majority of the boys in the crowd looked on in disbelief. Ashima was glaring at the scene with his fist balled up, shaking with rage and shock. ôNo...no way!ö

ôThat...that's sick! A hot babe like that with gaijin trash like that guy?ö growled his brunette friend.

ôI ain't that surprised, that Tony Stark guy is Spiderman after all. I heard he runs some kinda company too, and that he's rich,ö said their large companion nearby. A lot of boys had hit on her while she waited. She'd politely refused them all and showed clear disinterest. After a while, she just ignored them and waited seated on the front of the car.

ôYou idiot! That's not true!ö snapped the Kendo Captain.

The large boy frowned at him. ôYeah? How do ya explain this then? That car costs more than my house I bet. I punched him, and he stopped it cold like it was nuthin. I'm tellin ya, he ain't lyin.ö

ôYou lost your mind?ö snapped the pompadour kid.

ôThat jerk tried to kill me!ö snapped Ashima irritably.

Kego shook his head. ôIf that guy tried ta kill ya, you'd be dead. I may not be the smartest guy in this school, but even I ain't stupid enough to not know that much. He's strong, a lot more than you two think. I hit that guy as hard as I could, and he didn't even move. Stopped my punch like it was a baby's fist. I'm tellin ya, don't go messin with that guy. I ain't helpin ya if ya try. Yer on yer own.ö

Kei and Tony got into the car after the boy waved goodbye to his new school friends. All of them but Aya seemed a bit dumbstruck. She was looking at her friends in irritation, as they now believed that she had a secret crush on the head of her clan. She thought he wasn't bad looking, but she didn't really care much for foreigners in that way.

He slid behind the driver's wheel and smiled. A lot of disappointed looking boys were left in the wake of him pulling out into the street.

OooOOooOO

A short time later, they were at a red light waiting for the signal to change.

His wife scowled at him. ôSpiderman? What have you been up too? Why do those kids think you're Spiderman?ö

ôBecause I am?ö The boy glanced at her and gave a disinterested shrug. ôEveryone who wants to kill me knows anyway. There's no point in hiding it. It's not like I'm a vigilante or something.ö

Her eyes went wide. ôYou told them? What the hell has gotten into you? That's not like you!ö

He just focused on driving. ôI'm sick of hiding. Hisami is dead, and like I said, everyone who wants me dead knows anyway. Why bother with trying to cover it up?ö

She narrowed her eyes at him. ôIt might cause trouble.ö

ôNothing that isn't already coming anyway,ö he replied simply. ôI'll be fine. It's no big deal. Trying to hide it has proven useless anyway, it's not like I held a press conference or anything.ö

Kei crossed her arms and pouted a little. ôYou might as well have. What do you think will happen once word gets out?ö

He nodded. ôYeah. I guess. So what? I'm out in the public eye anyway. Sooner or later, someone is going to figure it out. I guess I'm just too lazy to bother with hiding it.ö

ôWhat's gotten into you? You're acting strange. Did you hit your head or something?ö She crossed her legs and kicked her foot. ôI know damn well that no one would even know you were here if you wanted it that way.ö

He shook his head and took his eyes off the road, using his senses to navigate. ôNo. I'm just sick of bothering with it. I didn't like doing it to begin with. I was just trying to distract people who were trying to kill me with a different face. You know how well that worked out. Like I said already, everyone who matters already knows anyway. No point in bothering with hiding it anymore. I'd rather it was out in the open, so I don't have to pretend like I was hiding, or ran away, or rush off to change if something goes wrong. I can just jump in and take care of it. I don't need a mask anymore, it's just in the way.ö

The woman gave a small sigh. ôI guess I see your point. Still, doesn't seem like you.ö

He nodded. ôI've changed. A few months ago I would have said fuck it, and just let them put out a warrant for me rather than put up with this. I guess I'm settling down. It's no big deal.ö

He turned and was still looking at her while they talked. She didn't seem worried that he was going a little faster than he should and driving through pretty heavy traffic without seeming to pay much attention. ôYou call this settling down?ö

ôSure. I'm going to school, I got married, I've got a steady job, and I'm even hanging around respectable people.ö He seemed to think on it as he turned another corner.

ôThat's debatable,ö grumbled his wife.

He arched his eyebrows and nodded a little. ôWell, that's true. Still, I'm just sick of this shit. I want to take care of it and be done with it. I also can't rush it. I guess I'm just frustrated, call it venting if you want. It's no big deal. I don't really care if the whole world knows I'm Spiderman anymore. There's no point in hiding it.ö

His wife nodded and kept her arms crossed. She looked out the window and away from him.

ôYou mad?ö he asked her.

ôNot really, just...surprised. Are you sure you're all right?ö

ôI'll live,ö he replied. He gave a small sigh. ôLook. I'll be fine, I guess I'm just...I dunno...tired. Sick of running and hiding from...all of it I guess.ö He rubbed at his eyes. ôIt's time to man up and face it. I'm a public figure, running the company sort of did away with any notion of living quietly out of sight. I'm more useful to everyone as a well respected public figure. It makes it easier to gather resources, and poke things our way. You're right, I'm not entirely happy about it Still, that's how shit is. I can't stay in the shadows, that's what the clan is for, and there's no connection between it and Spiderman.ö

She nodded. ôI see. Be careful. I hope you know what you're doing.ö

He got a cocky looking smirk on his face. ôNot a clue. That's how I'm used to doing things anyway, and it's worked out pretty well so far.ö

His wife rolled her eyes and relaxed in her seat. She still felt a little apprehensive about how he was acting, but seeing that cocky grin did make her feel a little better for some reason. She wasn't smiling, but had relaxed quite a bit. ôYes, well. I suppose I can't argue with that. Still, don't get careless.ö

He cocked his head. ôWhen have you known me to not be careless?ö

ôPoint taken,ö she grumbled.

ôI'll be fine. I'm good at thinking on my feet.ö He turned into the parking garage and drove up a few floors until he found a parking place.

ôYou know, you could just reserve yourself a space right next to the entrance. It is your building.ö

He shrugged at that. ôI'm too lazy to bother with it.ö

She rolled her eyes. ôAnd walking all the way down to the street and into the building every day is less trouble?ö

ôMakes me feel normal I guess. Don't worry about it. You can reserve your own space if you want.ö He glanced at her with that grin again.

She narrowed her eyes. She'd seen a lot more of it, and that was a good thing on some level. Of course, he was usually irritating her when he had it. ôI have. That's where my car is parked.ö

He stopped and seemed to think on it. ôOh. Well, there you go then. You could have picked me up with your car, and parked it there when we got back if you wanted.ö

ôOh. Never mind. You are such a prick sometimes.ö

ôI know. You like it for some reason. I'd bet a half million yen you're thinking about jumping on me when we get to the office.ö

She blushed and picked up her pace a little as she moved ahead of him. ôShut up, asshole.ö

ôHa. I knew it,ö he chuckled and moved after her at a lazy pace.

OooOOooOO

Tony was sitting at his desk in school the next day. He'd gotten to sleep in a bit more and was in a better mood that day. He was almost smiling as he reclined in his chair, but not quite.

Gun was sitting with him with Aya over with her friends. The boy looked back at him. ôI...looked up Stark Enterprises on the web last night.ö He was a bit wide eyed. ôThat's you?ö

The new kid nodded. ôYeah. That's me.ö

The blond boy was wide eyed. ôWhoa. That's...impressive.ö

ôIt's not as much fun as it sounds. I don't have much time for normal stuff. Has it's advantages though.ö Tony settled in and looked rather lazy.

His new friend nodded. ôYeah.ö He didn't say anything, but if what he'd seen was right. Tony owned the company his father worked for. ôYou're really Spiderman too then I take it?ö

The new boy nodded. ôYeah.ö He scowled a little.

The blond flushed a bit. ôSorry.ö

Tony shrugged. ôDon't worry about it. Look, trust me on this. It's not fun. You wouldn't believe how painful it is. I've been shot at, blown up, crushed, slashed, impaled, and nearly killed more times than I can count. Manga can be fun to read, but it's not as cool as it looks in a comic.ö

Gun seemed to think on that. ôI guess so. Is that how you...got?ö He pointed at the side of his own face and drew a line over his eye with his finger.

Tony nodded. ôYeah. This psycho chick was trying to kill me, and cut my face open. Stung like a bitch.ö

The boy got wide eyed. ôWow. It sounds a bit scary.ö

Spiderman just nodded. ôYeah. It's kind of weird, I don't usually think about how scary it is until after.ö

The blond flushed a bit more. He wasn't very brave, a bit of a coward actually. He was taller than most of the students, even the older ones, but he also wasn't very strong and a bit lanky. Tony was a bit shorter than he was. He wasn't very large physically, but he could see that he was in good shape. He wasn't checking him out, but the muscles in his arms were firm and well defined. Everything else was hidden by his uniform. ôI was wondering, how did you...get super powers?ö

Tony smirked at that. ôLab accident.ö Going into how he was really an adult in a child's body from another dimension was just too much trouble. ôThis place I own was irradiating spiders with all sorts of stuff doing cancer research. One of em got loose and bit me. Haven't been able to reproduce the results though. I squashed it as a reflex. As I understand it, if the dosage had been any different, it probably would have just killed me. One of those freak incidents that was just dumb luck.ö He scrunched his eyebrows a little. ôBad luck at that. It's been nothing but trouble.ö

The blond boy considered that and nodded. ôHow do you shoot webs?ö

The new boy seemed to think on that and then shrugged. ôI dunno.ö He really didn't.

They piped down as the teacher walked in. Everyone returned to their assigned seats, and they all stood up to bow and greet him to start the lesson.

OooOOooOO

Things were quiet until lunch. They went to the roof again, a lot of students hung about and ate lunch up there on nice days. There were quite a few who hung around the grounds in front of the gates as well, and others chose to eat in the classrooms. Japanese schools didn't have lunch rooms, and on days when the weather was too poor, everyone just ate in their classes.

Ashima walked onto the roof and walked over to him. Once again he had his wooden sword resting on his shoulder, and his brunette lackey was scowling at the new boy with him. Koga wasn't with them. ôI don't believe it.ö

Tony shrugged. ôSo?ö He continued to eat. His friends moved away again, but not so far or as quickly as before. ôD'ya want something?ö

The Kendo Captain scowled. ôHow much did it cost you to rent that whore and that car for the day?ö

The new kid arched his eyebrow. ôI own them both. It cost me my freedom as a man, but the trade off is kind of worth it. It's fun to annoy her, and she's good in bed.ö

The pompadour punk gave a wicked grin. ôSo, you're married to that chick, but you don't care that he just called her a whore?ö

Tony seemed very relaxed. ôShe pretty tough. Kei can take care of herself. It's one of the things I like about her. If she overheard you talking like that, you'd be lucky if she just beat you senseless.ö

Ashima pointed the sword at him. ôWhat kind of man are you?ö

The new kid just gave him a calm stare. ôI'm man enough not to bully middle school kids. Run your mouth all you want. You're no threat to me, so I don't care what you say. You're just some weak punk with a stick, not worth my time.ö

ôI'll show you who's weak you fucking gaijin trash!ö snapped the angry boy as he raised the weapon over his head. He promptly fell face first onto the gravel right in front of Tony's lap. He struggled for a moment and couldn't pull his feet apart. He gasped in shock as he turned and looked at his ankles. There was some sort of grayish white fibers holding his ankles together. It looked like a mass of spiderwebs. ôWhat?ö

Tony pinched his nose with his chopsticks. ôFigure it out yet dumbass?ö

ôNo...no way!ö gasped the pompadour boy. He staggered back and almost tripped over his own feet. ôThat...it can't be!ö

Ashima looked at him with a horrified expression on his face as the boy stood up and walked away. ôWhat is this? How did?ö

The new kid smiled at him over his shoulder. ôIf you work at it, you might be able to free your legs in time to make it back to class when lunch is over. Good luck, and leave me alone. I do hope you're not too stupid to have figured it out after this.ö

Aya walked over and looked down at the fallen kendoist. ôHe's been pretty nice to you considering. Just leave him alone would you? In case you haven't noticed, he's telling the truth.ö

It was obvious the boy was still in shock and he opened and closed his mouth like a fish. His skin had paled a little.

His friend helped him roll over and pulled at the stuff on his legs. It was tough, but there was a little give to it. ôMaybe...maybe we should listen to her?ö

Ashima growled and didn't say anything as he started tugging at the stuff himself. He could get little pieces of it off, but it was obviously going to take a while to untangle his feet again.

Gun was standing beside Tony with a wistful smile on his face as he watched the scene. Umi and Ina were with them and Aya walked over to join them. They'd relocated to a spot near the door to give the would be bullies some room. ôThanks for that. I'm really glad I got to see it.ö

The new boy grunted. ôI just hope they catch the hint. Idiots. I thought yesterday would have been enough.ö

Aya nodded. ôI guess it wouldn't be fair for you to really fight them, Sempai.ö

Umi and Ina were quiet and looking at Tony with wide eyes. They had both seen him shoot that stuff from his wrists at the boy's feet. It had shocked them into silence.

The rest of the day went quietly.

Hakage was standing on front of Tony's desk with his arms crossed. He was wearing a mask, but it was clear his expression was concerned. ôWhat are you doing?ö

The boy had his head back and was leaning with the chair in a reclined position. ôBecoming a famous public figure against my better judgment.ö He rubbed at the bridge of his nose. ôIt's a huge headache, but the pros outweigh the cons. I'm more useful this way, and I can get more done. I've not done much fighting recently anyway. Once Usagi and that stupid Carnage Cyborg are out of the way, I plan on keeping my nose clean and staying out of direct fighting if possible.ö

The man nodded and seemed to consider that. ôI see.ö

Tony sat forward and hung his head with his forearms on the desk. ôI'm not stupid. I know I can't turn into a wuss, and that I'll probably still get dragged into stupid shit sometimes. Still...I have to lead. That means not doing everything myself, and being a public face for our interests.ö He was clearly annoyed. ôThere's no point to hiding my identity. If I need to get something done quietly, I have the clan for that. I'm not shoving all of us into the spotlight you know, just me. Call it the nature of my business. I need to keep our financing going, and political influence. That means becoming known. I hate it, but...it's necessary.ö

The man arched his eyebrow. ôYou plan to run for office?ö

Tony almost choked. ôUgh. Hell no!ö He grimaced and shuddered. ôI'm buying loyalties, financing political agendas, and that sort of thing. You know how it is. We need influence. I'm acquiring favors so to speak. Keeping peoples noses out of our business.ö He growled a little. ôI'm also going to become a poster boy for 'staying in school'. I talked with the Governor earlier today, and...ö He squeezed his eyes shut and rubbed at the bridge of his nose. ôI'm going to let him use me and my going to school to promote an education campaign.ö

Again, Hakage looked surprised. ôReally?ö

The boy poured himself a glass of bourbon from a clear bottle on his desk and nodded as he took a drink. ôYeah. It sucks, but since I'm stuck going anyway, I might as well make use of it. He's running for reelection, and a major part of his platform is education.ö

The large ninja chuckled. ôYes. I heard about the...order.ö

The boy frowned. ôYeah. Pain in the ass that is. Part of the deal is that the court order vanishes as if it never happened. I've got to stay in school and do some ad campaign stuff to promote education. You know, support his election campaign, do some television spots, let them use my face on posters. That sort of crap.ö

The man nodded and seemed to think on it. ôI believe I understand.ö

Tony nodded and took another gulp of his glass. ôYeah. It's not just education for the Governor either. I'm doing some healthy eating stuff, and Nationalistic 'support the police' and 'respect the Government' deals as well. Such a pain in the ass, but I can't hedge my bets with just one government official. I'm going to be doing some butt kissing if that asshole loses.ö He scowled at that. ôHe'd better win. I'm pretty sure he will, he's heavily favored.ö

Hakage nodded at that. ôI see.ö The boy probably wasn't aware, but he'd overheard Hisami doing similar things in the past. The old man was far more crude and ruthless about it. Certainly not wishing to be so open publicly. ôI believe I understand. I was concerned, it did not seem like you.ö

The boy nodded and finished his drink. ôI'll be fine. Just a bit annoying is all.ö He settled down and didn't make another.

The shinobi nodded at that. ôWell, I just wanted to speak with you about it. If you'll excuse me, I have duties to see too.ö

Tony waved at him. ôYeah. See you later. I'll probably drop by for the weekend. I'll be spending most of my nights here while I'm in school though. It's just easier that way.ö The man left him and he turned his chair around to look out the window at the setting sun.

He stood up and stretched his arms. ôWell, I guess it's time then.ö

Kei walked into the room just in time to see him going to the door to the roof. ôHuh? Going somewhere?ö

Her husband had a serious expression on his face. ôIt's time. I'm going to pick up Mei Lin, and then over to meet Yoshi at the lab. We're all set up, and it's time to take care of that damn monster for good.ö

Her face fell a little at that. ôAnything I can do?ö

He looked at her. ôNot really.ö

She walked over and wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him. ôGood luck, be careful.ö

He unhooked the sword from the wall and put it over his shoulder. ôYeah. I'll be fine, don't worry.ö He walked out the door and left her in the office.

She scowled a bit. ôShit. He's going to come back half dead again. He'll be injured for weeks.ö She walked over to the phone and picked it up, dialing a familiar number. ôHey. Gia? Hey, it's Kei.ö she paused, ôOh, I'm fine. Tony is going out to get himself nearly killed again. Just wanted to give you a heads up. I'll probably call and have you come by later to help fix him up.ö She paused again and laughed. ôYes. I know. That Carnage thing this time.ö Another pause, ôOh. I see. I'm sorry to hear that.ö Her smile faded a little. ôWell, I'll be able to set anything that's broken. I did it last time, but I just wanted to make sure you were available later if it's anything worse. You know how he is, he'll just lock himself up and hope it goes away on it's own. It's a wonder he hasn't died from an infection by now.ö She paused to listen again, ôAll right, I'll call you either way and let you know how it went. Talk with you later.ô

OooOOooOO

Tony closed the door to his car and stepped out into a familiar yard. He was in front of Gia's clinic at about seven thirty in the evening. The sky was dark and clear, leaving the moon and stars sparkling above the halo of light that the human settlements created around the horizon. He wiped his hand over his mouth and gave a heavy sigh as he walked up to the door. He was wearing his Spiderman outfit, but without the mask or gloves.

As soon as he knocked, it opened. Gia was standing there looking at him and gave a weak smile. ôHey. We've been waiting on you. Kei called and said you were on the way.ö

Mei Lin was sitting in one of the chairs in the waiting area. She was dressed in a pair of jeans and a T-shirt. Her expression was rather vacant, and it was clear she was afraid. ôYeah. Time to take care of this.ö

The woman nodded and stepped aside to let him in. ôYeah.ö She wasn't in the best of moods, and it was easy to tell that they were both anxious.

Tony seemed to understand and tapped the Chinese girl on her shoulder. ôYou ready to go?ö

She stood up in silence and held her arms giving an unsure nod.

The boy gave a small sigh. ôYou'll be fine. It's gonna be a long night. I'll be there, and that thing isn't going to hurt you. It's set up to keep you as safe as possible, you're just there to bring it to us all right?ö

She gave a false looking smile. ôAll right.ö

Gia shuddered as the girl stepped outside. ôI shouldn't have asked this of you. It was wrong, I was upset...ö

He put his hand on her shoulder. ôI'd be doing it anyway. Don't beat yourself up about it.ö

She looked up at him with wide eyes and gave a nod. She was close to tears. ôTake care of her.ö

The boy nodded at that. ôYeah. Hibiki around?ö

The man was leaning against the counter behind the receptionist window. ôHey.ö The room was dark and he was brooding in silence.

Tony nodded at him. ôHey.ö He was upset and nervous as well. He hadn't even seen the man standing there. ôShe'll be all right. Don't worry.ö

He nodded. ôYeah. I hope so. Take care of her.ö

The three of them had been staying together for a while and had gotten pretty close. The camera man had been doing a few odd jobs here and there around the clinic. He was mostly out of sight and had kept his head down a lot better than the Chinese girl had.

Tony gave a forced smile. ôIf everything goes well, you'll be able to go home and get on with your life tomorrow.ö

Mei Lin was standing in the doorway. She burst into tears and rushed into Gia's arms. ôThank you. For everything.ö

The woman sniffled and returned the gesture. ôHey. You'll be fine right? I'll see you when it's over with.ö She looked up at the young hero. ôYou too.ö

ôI'll bring her back in one piece, don't worry,ö he replied. ôCome on. We should get going.ö

Hibiki spoke up. ôHey, there's nothin I can do is there? I feel kind of bad, just staying here.ö

Tony shook his head. ôNot really. I want as few people around as possible. Yoshi, Mei Lin, and I are going to try to be the only people in harm's way. If there was a way to do it without putting her in danger, we'd be doing it. She's the only thing we know about that will draw it too us though. Most everything else is going to be taken care of remotely.ö

The pair walked outside the clinic together and Spiderman indicated the passenger side of the car. ôGet in, we've got a bit of a drive.ö

OooOOooOO

A little less than an hour later they arrived in the wooded area just outside Cybertech Laboratories. The first sounds of spring were in the air, and the light chattering of insects could be heard in the darkness. The main building could be seen a short distance away, but they pulled up a fair distance away from an area that was lit up. Mei Lin shuddered, she could see the white light poking over the tops of the nearby trees.

Tony looked at his car and sighed. ôCome on.ö

ôThis is as close as we can get?ö muttered the girl in confusion.

The boy looked a little sheepish. ôI don't want my car anywhere near this. Relax, it's just past those trees.ö

They pushed through a short wooded section, and the girl gasped. A large garage door sized entrance led to what appeared to be a thick concrete underground bunker. The area outside was lit up with portable generators. Several men in clean suits were milling about adjusting equipment with thick cabling that lead underground by way of the massive door. ôWhat is this?ö

Tony glanced at her. ôTo keep the blast contained. Don't worry, everyone will be out when we set it off.ö

There were a few plain black cars parked about, and a couple of vans. There was a dirt road that cut across the clearing they were standing in. Spiderman had parked his car well away, ignoring the road that would have led them right to the place.

A familiar man in a white lab coat jogged up from the entrance. Yoshi nodded at the Chinese girl with a serious expression on his face. ôEverything is ready.ö

Spiderman nodded and pulled on his mask, more for the protection it offered his face than to hide his identity. ôGreat, lets get this over with.ö

The scientist waved his arm. ôBring the camera over here.ö

ôCamera?ö muttered the girl in confusion.

Tony nodded. ôTime to set the bait.ö

ôWe're rolling,ö said one of the men in the clean suits. ôBroadcast is running.ö

Spiderman looked into the camera. ôHey, ugly. I know you can hear this. I've got something you want, and you're gonna have to come and get it.ö He put his hand on the nervous looking girl's shoulder. ôI'm sure you can figure out the rest.ö

ôThat should do it said the camera man.ö He turned and called out to the others. ôAll right, time to pack it up.ö The men started moving to the cars, and piling into the vans. A couple were left behind, and they drove off towards the main complex.

Yoshi remained behind and moved towards the entrance. ôCome on, this way.ö

ôAre you sure you need to be here?ö muttered Tony as he glanced at the man.

The scientist nodded. ôI need to see this through. I'm the only one who can fix it if there's a problem with the device.ö

ôYou mean the bomb?ö grumbled Mei Lin as she found herself being led down a poorly lit concrete walkway that led underground.

Yoshi smiled at her in a weak manner. ôIt's not really a bomb, there's a small explosion involved, but it's actually a device designed to release a large quantity of gamma radiation. The bunker is designed to keep the fallout contained. It will be sealed up for a year or so, but it's not as bad as a nuclear explosion. Might make people nearby sick if we just set it off in the open though.ö

The girl nodded and rubbed at her arms. She walked into a large dome. It was pretty big, the size of a small warehouse. A huge concrete dome over an empty floor with a spherical shaped device poking out of the middle of the floor in the center of the room. It was halfway embedded in the floor. Off on the right wall was a small room with a window and some computer equipment with a heavy metal door. Yoshi went over to it and motioned for her to follow. ôCome on, you'll be safer in here with me.ö

Tony shoved on her shoulder lightly. ôGo on.ö

ôWhat about you?ö asked the girl.

ôI've got to keep him busy and way from you,ö he replied simply. ôI'll be fine, don't worry.ö

Yoshi pulled on her arm. ôIt's all right. Once it's inside here, we're going to use a magnetic field to keep it from getting out. It will only hold it for a few minutes, but it will keep it in here until we can set off the device and destroy it.ö

They went into the room and Tony stood in front of the device with his arms crossed. He looked at them and spoke to her before the door was closed. ôWhen it gets here, start the detonation sequence, and get her out of here. I'll hold it off and keep it away from you while you get to the surface. I'll be right behind you once you're cleared. Don't worry.ö

She gave a nod and a few tears ran down her cheeks. She'd never been so scared in her life.

All they could do was wait.

OooOOooOO

Usagi looked up. She was sitting on a rooftop in Tokyo in silence, alone. Mamoru was patrolling, but she hadn't gone with him. It wasn't in her that night.

She stood up and looked out over the streets of Tokyo She felt better, but still resented the strange boy ôMy brother,ö she muttered under her breath.

The suit chimed in. ôIncoming broadcast.ö

ôHuh?ö she muttered in a sort of dreamy tone. The message played and she frowned. He was holding a frightened girl by her shoulder and calling out to something. A map displayed with coordinates on it. There was a building labled Cybertech Labs indicated nearby.

ôInstructions?ö queried the thing on her body.

ôIgnore it, delete it,ö she responded. ôLet him deal with it himself.ö She scowled and felt a faint anger rising up in her chest. It faded though, she felt sorry for the girl. She looked terrified.

She briefly considered getting up and going, even after saying otherwise. ôJust forget about it. He said he doesn't need our help.ö

ôMessage deleted,ö replied the Unit.

Usagi nodded. ôGood. Let's go home. Nothing is going to happen tonight that's worth the effort.ö

OooOOooOO

Underground in the darkness it stirred. All around it, the bones of small animals as well as human remains littered its lair. It hissed as the image flickered, replaying over and over.

ôI've found her..ö muttered what remained of it's more human side. It barely qualified anymore, the former man's mind long since broken and shattered. Cut to shreds, reformed, and healed on a constant basis inside the monster that had consumed him.

The killing machine flickered, the one inside it barely able to read the text in it's display. ôTarget Acquired.ö

It began to move, crawling through pipes and passageways to the surface, ever closer, ever faster. It ripped through walls and darted through the underground towards the surface. A bee line straight towards the target. Soon, it's business would finally be concluded. Soon, it's target would finally be destroyed. Then, when it was finally over, everyone would be a target. Without a mission it was free, unconstrained, and uncontrolled. That night, it would be finished.

OooOOooOO

Uranus floated above Tokyo with a scowl on her face and her arms crossed. Vigilant and firm as she looked out over the rooftops. She'd stopped a few muggings, some minor criminal activity. That wasn't what she was there for, but it passed the time. A gun smuggling ring was now in jail, and it's cargo smashed and crushed into useless bits of metal, plastic, and wood.

She waited on her enemy, hanging over the edge of the city looking on, waiting for the telltale signs of mass destruction Nine left in her wake. She couldn't outright beat her, but was successful in driving her off. She wasn't sure how long that would last, but she had to find a way to destroy the thing. It was the only way, the only way to give what remained of Saturn any peace.

It was all her fault.

She put up her hand, and the front end of a car slammed into her palm, crushing the entire vehicle without moving her in the air. She caught it and scowled in the direction it had come. ôI've been waiting for you.ö

Nine was leering at her from a parking lot. ôWell, hello.ö The creature hissed at her as she floated down and drew near. ôYou looked so bored up there. I thought I'd say hello.ö

Uranus dropped the car to the ground and landed on top of it. ôWell, Monster? What is it tonight?ö

ôThe usual, destroy you, become the Ultimate power on this world, and then the Universe.ö It's tail hooked over it's head.

The super heroine just nodded. Her serious expression never wavering. ôWell, let's just be done with it.ö She blasted forward wrapping her arms around the monster's torso.

Nine growled as she stabbed at her with her tail, but the woman reached up her hand and caught the barb carrying her into the air and then curving down again outside the city. They both slammed into the ground in an open field, a few small woods scattered across the landscape around them.

Nine grew out of her protective shell and looked irate. They were in a ten foot crater and Uranus still had a grip on the hook of her tail. ôThat hurt.ö

ôI don't care about hurting you. I intend to destroy you,ö said the super woman as she twisted and spun the monster around by her tail. She threw her into the air, further away from the city. As soon as the monster left her grip she flew after her, moving up along side her as she sailed over the landscape.

ôJust die, brat!ö snarled Nine angrily.

Uranus punched her in the face, sending her slamming into the ground again. Creating yet another crater. She landed nearby and cracked her knuckles. ôOut here, there's nowhere for you to burrow to and escape. This time, we fight until one of us is finished.ö

ôFine by me,ö snarled the monster as it stood up. It was irritated, but no worse the wear from its trip.

OooOOooOO

ôTony. It's here.ö Yoshi's voice spoke up from the loud speakers in the room through a small P.A. system.

Spiderman nodded and walked around to behind the device in the floor. He lifted a heavy looking object that looked like some sort of futuristic firearm and held it against his chest as he looked at the doorway. It didn't have a barrel, but two metal rods poking out from the front end where it would have been. ôCome and get it, you son of a bitch.ö

Out of the shadows of the long hall, a lone figure walked down the corridor. Its skin was jumping about, forming bladed edges and pouring off of itself and then back on. The familiar blood red tint mixed with black. ôWell, hello there.ö

ôHi,ö said Tony as he stepped to the side and didn't train the weapon on the thing.

Carnage wasn't entering the room. ôI do hope you don't think I'm so stupid as to not realize this is a trap.ö

Spiderman nodded. ôYeah. I figured, does it matter? You want her, you gotta kill me first.ö

The thing walked into the room. ôInteresting, electromagnetic barrier, gamma bomb...hmm.ö It waved it's arms and sparks flew from the ground.

Yoshi gasped as he looked out the window of the room. ôWhat is it?ö asked Mei Lin.

ôHe...just cut the cables that link us to the device. It has to be set manually.ö The man had gone very pale and swallowed.

Carnage chuckled. ôYeah, good luck doing that without getting ripped to shreds pal. I'll get to that anyway.ö

Tony looked over at Yoshi and Mei Lin, and then back at the monster. ôYou asshole.ö

The thing hissed a chuckle. ôThanks. Now, what was that about going through you?ö

Spiderman leveled his weapon. ôWait until I've got it contained, then do what you've got too. Get her to the exit and out of here. Mei Lin, you get topside and head for the complex. We'll deal with this.ö

Yoshi had a firm frown on his face as he nodded. He opened the door and pulled the girl behind him by her hand.

Tony was in the middle of the room and had fired up the weapon. Carnage jumped towards him, throwing small jagged pieces of himself at the masked hero. They were dodged with little effort, and sonic energy blasted from the front of the weapon slamming into the cyborg's chest. Carnage screamed in rage as it was thrown back into the opposite wall. ôGo! Hurry!ö snapped Tony/

The pair rushed towards the exit, but both slid to a stop. A massive dust cloud erupted from the hallway as a black and green blur bounced into the room from outside. The larger darker portion flew over Tony, forcing him to duck out of the way. ôWhat the fuck?ö

Uranus was behind him, gasping for breath as she floated in the air. ôWhat the hell? Where?ö

ôSon of a bitch,ö growled Spiderman in irritation.

Mei Lin and Yoshi were sprawled out on the ground, having barely avoided the pair's messy entrance. Bits of concrete and debris had filled the walkway, they had bounced their way down the ramp into the large room.

The masked boy frowned as he looked back. Nine was slumped down in a crater in the wall, it looked like part of her tail was missing, and her mouth and nose were bleeding purple fluid. There was a messy red stain behind her back, and she staggered to her feet. ôThis isn't over yet!ö

Uranus glanced at the boy. ôGet lost. I...ö

ôMe? You idiot! Do you have any idea what you've done?ö cried the masked boy in rage. He turned to look at Nine and took a staggering step back. The monster was being covered from behind by liquid metal. It wasn't enough to consume her completely, but it was obvious it was wrapping around her body, leaving the now gelled remains of it's former host on the wall behind her. ôOh fuck.ö

Nine growled in irritation. ôWhat? What is this?ö She looked upset and pulled at the substance. It slipped through her fingers and seeped into her body through her injuries. After a few moments of struggling, she calmed. ôWait. I...I see.ö Her eyes became focused and she started to smile.

ôWhat the hell is that?ö muttered Uranus as she looked on in fascinated horror.

ôYoshi, get her out of here and get this thing started, fast!ö snapped Tony without looking back.

ôTake her and go! I'll take care of this!ö he snapped as he slid up to the device and opened a panel on the top half.

He frowned at that and narrowed his eyes. Taking a moment to look back and fourth, he rushed over to grab Mei Lin's arm and dragged the girl behind him outside. ôBe careful.ö

ôYoshi! Wait, what about him?ö she cried.

ôCome on, the super bitch is helping him now, and we'll just get in the way.ö He tugged at her forcefully.

Uranus frowned and balled up her fists. ôWhat's going on here?ö

Nine's eyes rolled up into her head. ôThis form is weak. Not strong enough, but with you...I don't need it!ö

The super girl gasped as the monster's eyes rolled up into it's head. It slumped down onto the ground as if it was dead. A pool of black shiny liquid seeped out of the remains and started to spread across the floor. ôYoshi looked up at Uranus. ôGo. Forget about that thing for now! This will destroy the Carnage Unit.ö

She didn't look pleased. ôNo. I have to finish this now.ö She charged and grabbed Nine by the shoulders. The monster appeared to be out cold, and hung limp in her grip as she pushed her against the wall and reared her fist back. She didn't see the black substance rise off the floor from behind her and start to flow onto her body from behind.

Haruka gasped as she realized that her fist wasn't coming forward. ôWhat? What the hell?ö She grunted and struggled, pulling at it as best she could. ôIt started to try and slide onto her face, up her legs, moving towards any opening in her body. ôN..no!ö

ôHeh. At last. I have you!ö snarled Nine's voice inside her head. ôI'll take over this body. How wonderful, who could have known such a creature existed!?ö

Uranus continued to struggle, pushing it away from her nose and mouth with limited success. ôI see, so...you're inside this thing now.ö She balled up her fists and screamed. A sphere of energy formed around her body, blasting the substance off of her. It splattered across the walls and ground messily. She heard Nine scream in tormented rage as she was thrown from her prey.

ôThat thing will destroy it?ö asked Uranus.

Yoshi gave a nod. ôThat's right.ö He was working at the console. ôIt's almost armed. We'll have less than a minute to get out of here. You don't want to be down here when it goes off.ö He slammed the console down. ôIt's armed, there's no stopping it now. Come...ö

ôNo! Look out!ö cried the woman as she tried to reach for him. It was too late. The black substance swarmed over his body and he got a wide eyed expression on his face. Blood seeped from his nose and mouth as he fell to his knees.

ôHold on!ö cried Uranus as she tried to grab her.

The man pushed her away. ôJust go! It's cutting me to ribbons on the inside.ö He was clutching at his head. ôIt's too late for me, I built it, it's fitting I go with it. Hurry, ten seconds, and the doors will seal.ö

Uranus looked horrified and staggered back. ôYou...ö

ôGo. You can't help me, and I can hold it here long enough to make sure it's destroyed.ö He got an odd smile on his face as the black sharp toothed maw overtook his mouth.

Uranus looked frustrated and closed her eyes as she flew away towards the exit. As she neared the entrance she could see the doors closing in ahead of her. She passed through just before they clamped shut. A moment later, the ground below shook as the device went off.

Tony and Mei Lin were standing next to one of the remaining cars. ôWhat? It's over?ö muttered the boy in shock.

Uranus was floating in front of the door with a shocked expression on her face. ôDamn it.ö

Mei Lin rushed up underneath her. ôHey! Where...where's Yoshi?ö

ôYou left him in there?ö muttered Spiderman in horror. ôOh shit!ö He seemed less upset and more afraid, but neither of the girls noticed it.

ôHe's...he's still in there?ö cried Mei Lin in shock. ôWe've got too...ö

Uranus floated down and put her hands on the girl's shoulders. ôThere's nothing you can do. That thing got onto him before I could stop it. He said he was going to hold it there. I couldn't help him, it was too late.ö

ôHe's dead?ö screamed the girl as tears started to fall down her face.

ôUm, no. We need to leave though,ö Tony appeared and grabbed her arm. ôCome along now. Time to go.ö

Mei Lin looked shocked and was very upset. ôWhat do you mean? He's alive? We've got to help him!ö

The boy shook his head, he was very panicked. ôYoshi will be fine, we need to get away from him though.ö

ôHe's dead, you asshole!ö snapped Uranus angrily.

The boy rubbed at his hair as he pulled off his mask. ôLook, Yoshi is going to need some alone time. We should get going.ö

ôHe just blew himself up!ö snapped Uranus as she balled up her fists and grabbed him by his collar. ôI saw it! He'...ö

There was a very heavy, very dull thump. The ground shook, and everyone froze.

ôShit,ö muttered Tony as he looked over at the doors to the sealed chamber.

ôWhat the hell was that?ö muttered Mei Lin as another thump sounded.

ôYoshi,ö replied Tony as he managed to rip himself free from Haruka's grip. ôGo now, very important.ö

ôWhat do you mean?ö said the Chinese girl. ôWe need to help...ö

The very large, very heavy metal door dented outward as something inside slammed into it. Then another large dent appeared, and another.

ôUm, maybe he's right?ö said the Chinese girl as she staggered back.

ôWhat the hell?ö muttered Haruka as she set herself and moved in front of the door.

Tony was opening the door to the car and motioning for Mei Lin to get into the other side. ôYou really don't want any of that, just...leave it be until it calms down. Trust me?ö

ôWhat are you talking about?ö snapped the woman angrily. The seam between the doors pried itself apart, and a massive set of fingers poked through.

A moment later, they peeled back inwardly, bending easily under the force of the massive shadowy figure inside the concrete bunker. ôRrrrrrrr.ö

ôWhat the hell?ö muttered Uranus in shock.

A massive ten foot tall thing strolled out. It looked sort of human, but it's skin was green, and it was as wide as a car. It's body was covered in huge muscles that strained against it's skin as it stalked forward in the remains of a pair of pants and nothing else. ôGRAAAAAHHHHH!ö it dried as it raised it's hands at the sky.

ôGo now!ö said Tony as he fumbled with the keys in the ignition.

Mei Lin looked through the window in fascinated horror. ôWow. What is that?ö

ôYoshi, and he's pissed,ö replied Tony. ôLook, he's not there right now. Just...ö

The thing looked down at the super girl standing in front of him. ôHey, you'd better calm down, Asshole!ö snapped Michiru as she pointed at it.

The thing just swatted her with the back of it's hand. She sailed off into the air, and seemed to vanish into the horizon.

Tony finally managed to get the keys into the ignition and grinned. ôGreat.ö

Mei Lin was looking out the window. She opened the passenger door and hopped out.

The costumed boy looked surprised. ôHey. Where are you going?ö He pressed the gas and blinked. The car wasn't moving. It didn't take long to figure out why though, as the rear end lifted up. ôCrap.ö

The roof peeled off and he found himself looking back at a large green mug. Yoshi wasn't smiling, and narrowed his eyes at him.

The boy chuckled. ôUm. Hey. You remember me right? We're friends! I got you laid and everything!ö

Then, the worst possible thing happened. It sneaked up on him, and by the time he realized he'd done it, it was too late. Tony...farted, and it was absolutely rank. ôSon of a bitch.ö

The green giant contorted it's face and almost released the back of the car. ôArrrggghhh! Hulk not like tiny puny stinky human! Hulk...ö

Tony reacted without thinking and jumped from the car just before the entire vehicle was crushed in half. ôSMASH!ö

ôCrap!ö cried Spiderman as he bounced across the dirt. He put his hands up and backed away as the Hulk glared at him. ôHey. Come on now! We're friends, remember? Don't be like this, realleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeooffff!ö The last thing he remembered seeing was the back of the monster's hand. Then the world was flying by, and a tree branch moved towards him at high speed. It was actually the other way around, but hey. He'd just gotten punched in the face by the Hulk.

OooOOooOO

He woke up and his face hurt. His nose was broken, and he was hanging over a thick tree branch by his belly. ôOoh.ö His ribs were busted up badly, and he looked around. He was fortunate that he managed to not fall from his perch, and slowly made his way down the tree. He had to drop the last eight feet or so, and ended up on his rear as his legs gave out. It sent waves of pain throughout his body. ôCrap.ö

He staggered to his feet and looked around. He was alone, it was still dark, and he could see lights in the distance. ôGreat.ö He started to stagger towards them.

About a half hour later he found himself at Cybertech Labs. The building was untouched, but he'd come across several crushed vehicles, craters, and broken trees. The thing left a clear path of destruction in it's wake, and it was moving away from the city. ôOh. That's good.ö He was gonna have to find his head scientist later. Nobody seemed dead, but it was an awful mess.

He staggered up to the complex and gave a heavy sigh as people seemed to notice him. Mei Lin was the first to rush up. She grabbed him around his neck and sobbed. ôYou're all right! I was so scared!ö

It put him in intense pain. ôOuch! Leggo you crazy chick! My ribs are broken!ö

She pushed off a little sheepishly. ôOh. Sorry. I'm so glad you're all right!ö

He'd reset his own nose, and the swelling had gone down a bit, but otherwise he still hurt all over. ôYeah. Sort of. Where's Yoshi?ö

ôHe went into the mountains,ö said Haruka. She was sitting in the back of a nearby van and was bandaged up and looked miserable.

He smirked at that despite his pain. ôGlad it's not just me.ö

She growled at that. ôShut up. That thing started heading for the city. I managed to drive it off in the other direction, but it just kept getting stronger.ö

He nodded and sighed. ôWell have to find him after he calms down. He'll turn human again when he does.ö

ôHow do you know?ö snapped Haruka.

ôI own this place,ö replied the boy with a shrug. ôThis is why no one was supposed to be in there when it went off. The more you piss it off, the stronger it gets. Just let it go, and it'll calm down and turn human again. Then we can pick him up and work on fixing the mess.ö He was pretty sure it would prove fruitless.

ôReally?ö gasped Mei Lin in what seemed like relief.

Tony nodded. ôDon't get too excited. It's not going to be easy. He'll keep turning into that thing if he's not careful. I'm gonna help him any way I can of course, but we need to try to figure out how to contain it. If it hurts someone, or makes too much of a mess, it won't make things any easier.ö

The girl nodded and got a frown on her face. ôHe'll...be all right though?ö

Spiderman gave a shrug. ôI hope so. He's the only one who can fix it.ö He sighed and it hurt. ôAgh. Son of a bitch.ö

Uranus chuckled. ôWhat happened to you?ö

ôHe punched me in the face. You?ö

The girl shrugged. ôKnocked me around with a few uprooted trees, beat me up, and hit me with a boulder the size of a bus.ö

Tony gave a nod. ôWe're gonna have to reseal that damn bunker. It should be all right, but I want to make sure that radiation stays put. It won't turn anyone else into one of those things, but it might cause trouble if it's not contained.ö

He stood up and staggered, almost falling to his face.

One of the men caught him. ôWe'll take care of it sir. You need rest. We'll get you patched up.ö

He gave a weak nod and let them sit him back in the back of the van. Haruka was lounging inside and looked to be in a bit of pain herself. ôWell, at least you killed that cyborg thing.ö

Tony nodded. ôYeah. Silver lining and all.ö

Mei Lin smiled. ôI'll drive you to the clinic after they get you patched up a bit.ö

Uranus stood up and hopped over him. Grimacing a bit as she landed on the ground. ôI'll see you later. Good luck catching that thing.ö

ôHe's...not as dangerous as he seems I think,ö replied Tony. ôTry to lay off him if he's not hurting anyone. He's a nice guy, and I don't think it's evil. Just...angry.ö

She frowned at that, but nodded. ôI'll let you handle it for now.ö She gave a small wave and floated up into the night sky.

OooOOooOO

Deep inside the bunker, something stirred. It groaned as it shook it's head and looked about in the darkness. It's eyes adjusted, it could see very well, a gray and black view of the room around it. ôWhere?ö It saw that it was alone. The place was a mess, broken stone and debris littered the ground. There was a large hole in the middle of the room where an explosion had taken place. It was also very warm. The creature pulled it's clawed hands around it's knees and shivered. It's eyes darted up, and it could see light, a way out ahead.

It staggered forward, looking up the long darkened hall way to the outside. A cool breeze was blowing in from above, and it could see the moon hanging in the sky. The thing staggered towards it and into the night. It was injured, and it hurt, but it could feel itself getting better as it moved. The bleeding had stopped, and while it was still weak, it was just a matter of time until it was recovered. Still, it was far from comfortable.

Tears started to fall down it's cheeks as it walked out into the grass. There were trees all around it, and it was open and clear. ôDaddy...I'm scared.ö It shivered and staggered out into the night, alone.

Hotaru's alive?
And has claws. And just woke up.
Did not expect that.

With the apparent "death" of Carnage and the Scorpion, it looks like those Spiderman storyline elements are at an end for the moment. I hope this means Metallia and her group return as the main bad guys in the upcoming chapters.

After everything the main character had to go through, he's going back to middle school. And everyone is giving him a hassle. From those who know him to those who don't believe what he says. As frustrating as it was continuously plow through those annoyances alongside the protagonist, I have to say it was pretty funny to read. Not to mention that the anticipation of getting through the thick heads of those bit characters that the main character is telling the truth made it worth it. I also look forward to the payback to that annoying cop.

The Hulk finally made it into the story. Heh. I did wonder though if you were going to make the Chinese girl into She-Hulk. But now you've got what looks Hotaru waking up from being controlled by Mistress Nine or something that has her memories. Will she be the Black Cat hinted at in the next chapter, or will the newly-awakened being be an Incredible Hulk character instead?

Heh, good finish of this part, for some reason when I read the part about Hotaru I though of her being a wolverine analogue.

Only Japanese citizens are required to go to school by law. Foreigners can choose to go or not to go. Being born in Japan does not make one a citizen either. One of you parents still has to be Japanese. I thought you said that Tony gained control of the company and such through Kei because of the legal limitations on foreign ownership in Japan... did I miss something?

The courts in Japan would never bother for force a well-connected, powerful, rich head of a company... even if underage foreigner... to be cuffed and dragged to school. Just not how things are handled over there. At the worst... they'd be more discrete and have get "special" schooling or count his job as on the job training/internship for a tech school (which they do have at the high school level). So in real life... yes there is buying your way out of it in Japan. Court order... binding? In Japan? You'd be amazed at the number of things that have no legal method of enforcement (e.g. child support). In real life... Kajura would be lucky to keep his job for having offended someone THAT important. Government officials talk to him about role model and setting example... not likely to happen considering their own behavior and what their kids get away with. And... unlike the US... the Japanese government (and even police) are particular about staying out of people's private lives... sometimes too much.

Just sayin'.... ya know...

Tony's false ID papers are citizen papers. Legally he's made himself a citizen of Japan. His paperwork is concrete, fake, but it might as well be real. He technically could own property and assets, but part of the reason he used Kei's name was to avoid resistance from racism. He also did it at a time when his legal status was still shaky, things hadn't settled yet. He's not 'Japanese', and a lot of people in Japan wouldn't like a white guy owning a Japanese company, citizen or not. Call it the path of least resistance.

What he's doing still won't sit well with a lot of people. He'll be encountering racism in the business world. However, having it in his wife's name and him just running it will curb some of that, and make even people who aren't entirely comfortable with it more accepting. There will be a bit of that showing up later on.

The rest is a combination of factors. Kajura calling in favors to annoy him, a politician who wants to use his image to promote education for an election campaign, the right judge with the right disposition who just happens to be friends with the principal of the school he's attending. The perfect shit storm converging over his head, and his making a good poster boy for an education platform.

He probably could get out of it if he wanted to spend the time and effort on it. He resisted initially, but has 'seen the light' and it will help his image, as well as get him a few owed 'favors'. At this point, it would be more trouble than it's worth. His friends talked him down and got him settled on just accepting it.

It annoys the hell out of him to be sure, but the positives outweigh the negatives given the road he's decided to take in life so to speak.

We probably won't be seeing a lot of him at school. Not near on the level this chapter had in it. His school life will be relatively normal, and while there will be school scenes popping up pretty regularly, they won't be anywhere near like the initial introduction in this chapter. I won't be investing most of a chapter on his time at school again. He's not attending Furinkan after all, it's a pretty normal school. It would get boring quickly if I spent too much time there.

Fair enough... although it wouldn't be good for even a foreigner VP/board member of Toyota Motor Corporation, Sony, or any number of big name Japanese companies to have some scandal. Guys resign to take responsibility for their subordinate embezzling (true story). Informal mediation is big in Japan... using courts like we do in the US... it's just a different culture (for better and for worse). Just saying that no one (in the government, in the company and in power in the country) is going to want an embarrassing big stink to come out...

While there are certainly many... obstacles... to deal with working as a foreigner in Japan.... don't forget that people like Carlos Ghosn, and Mark Fields do exist as well. Just saying to be careful in not overplaying the gaijin card.

As I said... fair enough... I get where you're coming from and it's ultimately your story. The "suspension of disbelief" problem I suppose I really had is Kajura calling in a favor with a judge (not very likely) AND the judge being friends with a principle that he arranged the deal with (not very likely). Something else that just occurred to me too... public junior highschool, like elementary school, is done by district in Japan are run by the city board of education. It's not until high school (public or private) that you take entrance exams and have much of a choice where you go... public ones are run by the prefecture board of education.

Anyway... been enjoying the story and even with my issues with this last one... still enjoying what you've got going.

I won't.

Racism in Japan is relatively subdued and subversive in nature. It's more likely to manifest in people talking behind his back and making things difficult at distance than anything that's going to get shoved into his face.

They aren't going to be burning shrine gates on his front yard or anything.

More like he can expect powerful people to treat him like someone they don't expect to succeed, or someone they're putting up with because they have too, or the general tone of 'I'm better because I'm Japanese, so I shouldn't act like you're worth my attention' kind of stuff.

Probably not much of anything openly hostile or aggressive from any adult with any maturity. He'll deal with a bit of that at school, but nothing more than would be considered annoying and mildly painful if he was dealing with it without his powers. Typical schoolyard bully stuff.

Might have to deal with a few aggressive hotshot youths looking to make a name for themselves in the business world as well. That's an irritation of a different sort though.

So, no. Nothing overblown, and probably not more than in the background, perhaps a mention here and there, but probably not really front and center in any real meaningful way. Just the implication that he has to deal with it, and that it's mildly annoying from time to time.

Plus, the fact that he's a Shinobi, and has quite a few working for him, is likely to lead to him overhearing things he usually wouldn't. People are at their worst when they think you can't hear them and won't ever know. It's just human nature.
