This is rather embarrassing but I was wondering if anyone could give me help with the two areas I gotten stuck in Shadow Hearts and Xenogears; in Shadow Hearts after getting to London I can't get the shutter on the orphanage to open and was wonder if anyone had any advice and in Xenogears I was wondering how you're supposed to defeat that gear boss in the cave, given how every time I fight him I end up losing.

I can help you for Calamity. Simply buy all upgrade parts from the old man in the caves and level up a bit until you learn a couple more spells. Usually level 17 should be more than enough...

Just be sure to hit him as fast and hard as you can. Don't bother with defense, go all out.

Sorry, this is a bit off topic but I wanted to get everyone's opinions on something that I had been thinking about. I've heard a lot of people talking about Xenogears and was just wondering if it was a good game worth playing through because I was considering getting it but wanted to be sure. This seemed like the best place to put this so...thanks.

Meh, I found it pretentious and uninteresting. I'm a completist, and that's the only reason I finished it.

If you want a good PSX RPG, pick up Valkyrie Profile. If you want one for PS2, pick up Shadow Hearts: Covenant, Grandia II or Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne.

Thanks, as I mentioned earlier to Fatuous One I hate to buy anything without first being assured of its quality. I'll have to look into those games you mentioned, the only out of those that I've heard of are Shadow Hearts and Grandia II, but I haven't played any of them.

O.O Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne?

...damn guess I am going to have to get a PS2...

Any idea how it ties in with Shin megami Tensei one and two?

Is it that good? Trying to think about what to pick up so I wouldn't mind getting some opinions.

It doesn't, though there are theories according to which the NPC Jyoji Hijiri is a reincarnation of Aleph from SMT2.

It's less of a game and more of an interactive movie. That's exaggerating, but not by much.

I enjoyed it, but I'd recommend that you simply rent it and play it through once as opposed to spending the money on it.

Oh, and on the subject of Valkyrie Profile, when are they going to announce the release date of Silmeria!?

Hmm, okay, so I'm guessing that means there's lots of cut scenes then, meh, thanks for the heads up Fatuous One, you know me, always wanting to save some money.

Yes... but it's 'sort of, but not really' sequel Xenosaga is much, much worse.
Yah I remember that there was a big hype for it when it was coming out but when it actually hit the shelves I heard almost nothing about it so I assumed it wasn't all it was cracked up to be.

Well, I thought it was enjoyable... it was just that most of the game I had the controller on the floor instead of my hands. Which isn't usually what I'm looking for in a game.

Although, on my previous comment, never mind, you probably wouldn't be able to find it at any rental stores...

Yah that's never a good sign when your controller spends more time warming the bench then on the field, so to speak. And if I remember wasn't Xenogears a PS1 game? In that case it would definitely be quite hard to find to rent.
