Kingdom Hearts 2 didn't even bother keeping people up to speed if they hadn't played Chain of Memories. When that came out I was lead to believe that it was just KH1 rehashed on the Game Boy, so I didn't pick it up and ended confused as all hell as to why Sora was stuck in that pod. I don't expect that to change with KH3.
Several rumors that seem fairly credible point to EA possibly losing the Star Wars exclusive license.
Apparently, it's in the contract that if EA doesn't meet certain standards and goals Disney can pull the license, or at least the exclusive part of it.
In the aftermath of both Battlefront games, and the canceling of several other titles, it seems like that process may be starting.
They've apparently been in talks with Ubisoft and Activision about possibly developing Star Wars games.
I do not see anyone getting an exclusive license again for a while after this if it does happen. I expect Disney will likely license the franchise to several companies in the aftermath if this proves true.

So it's apparently not just the loot box fiasco that's the issue here, though that didn't help. It was just the final straw and possibly the thing that might give them the leverage to get out of the contract with minimal cost.

The challenge mode sounds very cool. Obviously only need to buy the first one though, because the series went to hell after MMX4.
I wonder if it will include the Vile mode from Maverick Hunter X. For the uninitiated, the original game was already given an updated re-release on the PSP a few years ago with 3D graphics more similar to the later PS2 games. After beating it as X, you could play the whole game as Vile also.

That's exactly why they've been releasing free updates with more story content, and patches.
Really, Tabata said they were trying not to create a complete and cohesive story, so I'd say they got what they were aiming for. It just managed to outrage the fans completely and damage Tabata's reputation even more than the games shitty story already had.
But play Prompto's DLC, it's got better Metal Gear Solid style game play than MGSV.
