Drama over Bayonetta's VA for Bayonetta 3. The former VA claimed she got lowballed, getting an offer of $4k for the entire role, and instead it went to Jennifer Hale. Then it turns out Hellena Taylor got offered $4k a day for 4/5 days, and instead wanted six figures plus residuals, and omitted a lot of pertinent information in what looks like an attempt to stir shit up and burn bridges.

Things like this is what makes it hard to believe a story when its first reported - like was this an actual case of corporate over-reach? Or someone trying to make a fast buck?

At the moment, I'm still holding out between deciding who is telling the truth. For that matter, Bayonetta was never on my list of to-buy games anyway.

Playstation VR2 launches in February with a retail price of $550

What a shame. Another 49 dollars and we could have made 599 US dollar jokes again
IIRC, they are launching a bundle with a game that brings the price upto 599 USD. Does the joke still work?

VR aside, I'm hoping for a price drop + a slim edition of the PS5. As it stands, that console is too big to replace my current PS4. Also, something I'm keeping an eye on - is if the slim edition will make it easy for the end user to replace the CMOS battery on the motherboard - this will help increase the longevity of the system.

Granted, not everyone cares about using a console 10 years down the line .. but I do. And I care about using it offline too.

Yeah. I've said before I intend to wait for a Slim model. Even with supply shortages for the PS5 the last couple of years, I still expect a Slim model to eventually show up. Maybe not 2023 now, but 2024 almost certainly.

I think I recall reading there was only 7(!) PS5 exclusive games, that aren't available on the Series X/S, PS4, or Steam. So no hurry to get one now. I'll definitely get VR2 at some point, but not at that price point.

Not just Streets of Rage--Derek Kolstad is also working on movie adaptations of Splinter Cell, Just Cause, and Hitman (what, another one?!). The production company is dj2 Entertainment, best known for the Sonic movies, who themselves are busy with adaptations of Disco Elysium, Life is Strange, and Tomb Raider (what, another one?!).
Now with an actual movie studio attached to the Streets of Rage production! Maybe I should start posting news about this in the movie sub-forum instead of here...
Lionsgate Picks Up Streets of Rage Movie
Now it is reported that the movie rights for Streets of Rage have changed hands and the adaptation is now being produced by Lionsgate. Derek Kolstad, the writer of John Wick, is still attached to the Streets of Rage movie as both a writer and producer. He's been with the project since its inception and is passionate about seeing it come to fruition. So far, not much is known about the movie such as when it will release or how it will be distributed (theatrical release or streaming service). But it has been announced that Toru Nakahara, who oversaw the production of the first two Sonic the Hedgehog movies, is returning to supervise the project for Sega alongside Shuji Utsumi.

To play the devil's advocate - if you belong (or were employed by) to company-A and was part of the team that did negotiations to work with company-B. Is it really insider trading, if you bought shares of company-B before any public announcements?

Feels more like a conflict of interest issue than insider trading to me.

Fate/Samurai Remnant announced. Action RPG from the Fate series, being released for PS4/PS5/Switch/PC. Omega Force, so the usual musou/Dynasty/Samurai Warriors/Orochi franchises.

Honestly, I'm down for it. It's got the female Musashi, so it's not a part of the F/SN Timeline, but it could still be part of Tsukihime's. Curious to see which characters are going to be in it. I thought the one that smashed in the house might have been Lu Bu, but it might be someone new as well.

GoldenEye 007 is now available on Nintendo Switch and Xbox
On Xbox, GoldenEye 007 is a remastered version of the legendary Nintendo 64 title that first launched in 1997. The remaster includes 4K resolution, smoother frame rates, and split-screen local multiplayer .

Meanwhile, Nintendo has released GoldenEye 007 as part of its Nintendo Switch Online service. N64 games were added to the service in 2021, though you have to splurge on the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack tier to get access.

Online multiplayer modes are exclusive to the Nintendo Switch version of the game, as opposed to Microsoft’s “faithful recreation” that’s available for Xbox One and Xbox Series S / X consoles and included in the Xbox Game Pass subscription. If you already own a digital copy of Rare Replay on Xbox, then GoldenEye 007 is included and free of charge.

I was going to post a breakdown of the Nintendo Direct, but then @Shirotsume found a convenient infographic, so I'm stealing it instead.

Tears of the Kingdom releases May 12

Definitely glad to see the Baten Kaitos games getting a re-release. I'll have to pick that up, for sure. Sea of Stars and Decapolice both looked interesting, and it's nice to see RainCode finally has its own release date.

Tears of the Kingdom looks very cool, but I can't get over the tech seen in the trailer. This is not the Zelda I grew up with! What the hell are they thinking, evolving the story in ways I don't understand?! Those bastard game devs! /s

Seriously, it does look to be a very enjoyable and engrossing game.
