Nasuverse GAR-Quest!

Okay, I gotta warn you guys, this idea is pretty... pretty crack.

The idea is simple: Archer is GAR. By, like, definition. Shirou, on the other hand, is kindof a dork. He's like Peter Parker, pre- radioactive spider bite. After FS/N he's like Peter Parker, post- radioactive spider bite: powerful and strong, but still a dork.

So he decides to go on a quest to become as awesome, as GAR as Archer, who is just his future self: by being proactive like this he hopes to avoid all the Emo paradox!suicide business that was Archer's whole motivation to become a Servant.

Naturally, Shirou recruits the help of the only magus that can help him travel around other dimensions, searching for masters of Being Awesome: Zelretch the Wizard Marshall. Naturally, such an absurd idea tickles Zelretch's fancy, and he agrees to help. Or maybe he just gives the kid the Kaleidostick and that works somehow.

Aided by Zelretch, Shirou studies at the feet of such masters of Awesomeness as Kamina (from TTGL), Kazuya the Shell Bullet (from Scryed), and maybe like Char Asnoble or something (Char from the the ORIGINAL Gundam).

Thoughts? Suggestions?

...Snippets?

The image of Shirou with a drill, wondering who these people think he is, is now irrevoceably stuck in my head. I hate you.

Gah....and even then, he still looks like a wuss in my mind. Even with the Glasses.

This concept is amusing. I wonder what Saber would say, if he were to do the impossible and bring her back? Or pierce the timestream and go back to her, immediately prior to her original death when she's talking about dreams.

If he wants to learn to be like Archer, those teachers aren't exactly the kind he'd go to, seeing as they're nothing like him.

If it's the skills, he can refine them on his own - especially since it's a kind of skill only he can learn anyway. If it's the attitude, though (aside from the whole trying to kill himself deal), there are better mentors out there.

In Gurren Lagann, there's Lord Genome. In Scryed, I'd argue that Ryuhou would be better than Kazuma - but, Straight Cougar would probably be the best. Char might actually be a decent example in the UC universe, but for the sake of humor I'd like to see him substituted by Johnny Ridden.

Kazuya the Shell Bullet (from Scryed)
Kazuma: "It's Kazuma!"
Cougar: "O rly?"

:snigger:

Yeah, you walked right into that one. Arguably, though, it would be an improvement to have Shirou study under Straight Cougar. Cougar has already mentored a few people (notably including Kazuma), and might take an interest in an idealistic young twit like Shirou.
