So I had my spark for things rekindled again- I sat down and blitzed through Highschool DXD and my (perv) anime love grew back to a height I'd forgotten about before.

You know, where I was sad there's not more after season 3 and I hate the whole light novel format thing...

Help a TFFer out and recommend some anime to get into and murder myself over.  You know me and my love of harems.

It's wrong to pick up girls in a dungeon; To Love-ru Darkness in the very tiny chance you haven't seen it yet.

No game no life -not really harem but has the right elements to scratch that annoying itch-

trinity seven and well If you only want a cool anime I seriously recommend Boku no Hero Academia you'll love Froppy if nothing else

I've watched the abridged series of DanMachi, haven't yet sat down and watched it officially. I tried to watch the first episode of To Love-ru but it just wasn't grabbing my attention, strangely.

Will check the others, though!

Did you start from the first To Love-Ru series? Honestly, I suggest you skip that fail of an adaptation, and start from the first OVA series onwards, get the uncensored TV airings of Darkness 1 and 2 (aka bd/dvd) to dodge light beams and black holes.

Shinmai Maou no Testament - Make sure to get both seasons and their OVAs, be warned though, once it starts with the lewding, it just keeps on escalating.

DanMachi - I have to pitch on this due to mention of the abridged episodes. The adaptation suffers from some decay compared to the novel, but that is downright expected as they jammed 5 novels into 13 episodes. The harem aspect of the story is one of the better ones though, because the development in that regard feels reasonable, although it probably helps it "stinks" of Tenchiverse harems where all the girls, even the young looking ones, are older then Bell. The only issue is that for the further development of his relationships you need to wait for a second season (plzzzzzz), or read the novels.

Masou Gakuen HxH - This did have uncensored episodes airing, so I can reccomend it, on the other hand, the adaptation did outright skip the lewdest scene near the end when the guy has to perform an operation upon his new subordinate, if you are interested in the whole "installation" scene and how it went, you can read it and enjoy the mcs first "installation" experience.

Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou - Monster girls as a harem.

Shomin Sample - Regular guy is hijacked off to a private academy to serve as a man sample outside of rich families, it's a girl only academy, and the girls are curious, enjoy his various ways of trying to safely respond to their curiosities.

Grisaia series - I only watched the first aired show, need to watch the other as well, just need to time it well as it is stimulative.

These are all harems in the sense that the mc is getting together with multiple girls or is on the way to it.

Some other "harem" shows you could check if they tickle your fancy:
Sora no Otoshimono - manga adaptation, slightly different story to the manga, end that is not the end, read manga for the awesome full story, or just the last few chapters for the awesome harem ending with a twist.
Gakuen Toshi Asterisk - LN adaptation, girls are cool and cute.
Hundred - Another LN adaptation, some healthy girls are around so it gets a plus.
Saijaku Muhai no Bahamut - LN, technomagical power armors, girls in skin tight pilot suits.

UFOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But hell yeah, that's more like it. (While I've seen MonMusu, and am even still reading it, even though I'm steadily losing interest because of how it's dragging out...) Will give some looking around. Appreciated!

Dunno what you've seen so far, but...

Cross Ange: The first five episodes are kind of tough to watch. They're kind of depressing and Ange is annoying at first. Everything beyond that point is epic and Ange becomes a badass. It's about a fallen princess who is forced to fight dragons in a mech, and it's every bit as over the top as it sounds.

D-Frag: Dude gets dragged into a school club. One of the better examples of this genre out there, and very funny.

Nichijou: Cute girls doing cute things amped up to 11. Some seriously great animation in this.

K-On: A bunch of cute girls in a music club at school start a band. Really great music.

Gakko Gurashi: Watch the entire first episode before giving up on this. Something is up, and I don't want to spoil it.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Not what it first seems to be, but again, to explain too much is to spoil it. Watch this, seriously, it has some absolutely stunning Animation. Be sure to catch the third movie as well. The first two are recaps of the show, but the third film is all new and the real ending of the show.

Katanagatari: Hour long episodes and a very stylized look. A samurai who doesn't uses swords and a girl who calls herself a tactician hunt down and gather together swords infused with dark powers.

ReLIFE: Funny as hell and not pervy. A guy is given the chance to go back to high school again by way of a drug that makes him appear as a teen again.

Gekkan Shojou Nozaki-kun: Also very funny. A girl has a crush on a boy in her class who is also a shojo manga artist.

Angel Beats: The afterlife is a high school where people wait to be reborn. Epic show, funny and has hardcore feels.

Seto no Hanayomoe: Dude ends up married to a mermaid through contrived circumstances. This one takes a bit to get rolling, but the latter half of the show is amazingly funny.

Daily Lives of High School Boys: Self explanatory and very funny.

Prison School: Very crude, and very funny. A very strict school has recently become co-ed, and only four boys attend. They are caught breaking rules and must spend a month in the school's prison block or they will be expelled.

Moretsu Space Pirates: Cute girls get shit done in space. Seems like it would be full of fanservice, but actually has basically none.

Konosuba: Hilarious. Dude dies and is given another chance at life in a fantasy world where he is tasked with defeating a demon king.

Sabagebu: This has one of my favorite female MCs ever. A girl is dragged into joining her school's Survival Club, a group that uses air pellet guns in mock battles.

Seitokai Yakunidomo: A boy who attends a school that was recently converted from an all girl's school to a co-ed school is forced into joining the student council.

Assassination Classroom: A group of school rejects is tasked with killing their teacher, a synthetic being who destroyed the moon and says he'll destroy the world if the class can't kill him.

Detroit Metal City: About a Japanese black metal band, would fit right in on Adult Swim.

Disasterous life of Saiki K: Dude with Uber level psychic powers tries to get through high school while keeping his abilities secret. Hilarity ensues.

One Punch Man: Some people love this, others hate it. It's a parody of shonen hero manga, and a good one in my opinion. It's better if you're somewhat familiar with shonen anime already.

Overlord: Guy gets pulled into a dying MMO world when the servers are shut down as his character. A Lich leading a fortress full of monsters that were once NPCs.

Kill La Kill: Special clothes give people super powers. A girl transfers to a school searching for the person who murdered her father and finds a uniform that feeds off her blood to make her stronger.

Oregairu: A cynical boy is forced into joining a school club that does odd jobs around the school. Great characters and writing.

Ore Monogatari: A very large and thuggish boy saves a girl from being groped on a train and falls in love. This is better than it had any right to be. His BFF is the bro-est of bros and an epic wingman.

Erased: A mystery thriller time travel thing. A guy ends up back in the 80s after an accident, where he tries to solve the mystery behind the disappearance of several of his fellow students.

Mushishi: In a time between the Edo and Meiji periods creatures called Mushi exist that have strange powers. There are humans that can see and interact with them. The MC is one such person and a wanderer who attracts them. Kind of an oddity as there is no real overarching plot, but very good.

Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt: Heavily influenced by western animation with a very distinctive style. Two foul mouthed angels are banished to Earth where they must earn their way back into heaven.

Black Lagoon: Modern day pirates.

Baccano: Hard to describe this one. Set in the 1930s, an elixir that grants immortality is created from a formula that came from a demon. The show largely revolves around that and involves gangsters and thieves. Well worth checking out.

Boku no Hero Academia: Super hero high school the anime.

Death Parade: Amazing animation. People who are dead are tested in the afterlife in what seems like a nightclub.

The Devil is a Part Timer: A demon is defeated in a fantasy world, and jumps dimensions to modern Japan, where he takes a part time job at a fast food restaurant.

Gate: A gateway to a fantasy world opens in the middle of Tokyo. The inhabitants of the world attack Japan and are defeated. After which the JSDF enters the gateway and into the new world.

Hai to Gensou no Grimgar: Another normal people end up in a fantasy world anime. The watercolor backgrounds alone make this one worth a look though. Beautiful animation, kind of a slower pace, but still good.

Ichigo Marshmallow: A cute slice of life thing with a particularly funny regular character.

Yuru Yuri: A funny cute girls doing cute things show. Worth a look because it's that funny.

Kaze no Stigma: A guy gets disowned from a family of fire magic users because he has no talent. He returns to Tokyo years later as a master wind magic user. Kind of generic shonen fare saved by an epic MC.

Orange: A high school girl receives letters sent by herself ten years in the future asking her to prevent her 'biggest regret'. A drama thing, but a good one.

Squid Girl: A stupid comedy about a squid girl from the ocean that attempts to invade the human world and ends up working at a small noodle shack on the beach.

Sakamoto Desu Ga?: You'll either love or hate this show. It's about a perfect high school boy whose every action is 'cool'. He kind of reminds me of a male Bayonetta actually. Anyway, the best part of the show is not him, but how everyone reacts to him. If you're not into the joke after an episode or two, it's probably not for you.

Shimoneta: About a world where dirty jokes are illegal and a small resistance group fighting for freedom in it. Very lewd, but also funny.

Tanaka-kun is always listless: Kind of a relaxing show, but also pretty funny. Like Sakamoto, not for everyone and you'll be able to tell after an episode if it's for you or not.

Shirobako: An anime about making anime. Meta and cute.

Tiger and Bunny: A superhero I haven't seen yet, but keep hearing good things about.

Toradora: Guy runs afoul of the best friend of his crush while attending high school. Hilarity ensues.

Steins;Gate: Has a slow start but an amazing second half. It's hard to describe this one without spoiling things. It's about a crazy scientist who is perhaps not as crazy as he seems.

The World God Only Knows: A guy who is amazingly good at dating sims, but terrible at real life socialization, is recruited to help a demon girl by making girls fall in love with him. Hilarity ensues.

To Aru Series Railgun/Index: Two separate shows with an interwoven plot. Railgun is about a young girl who controls electricity and uses it to fire small pieces of metal like a Railgun. Index is about a boy living in the same place who has a young nun fall into his lap leading him into the world of strange science and the occult. The two shows run parallel to each other and cross over at several points. I recommend watching Railgun first. Both shows spoil parts of the other, but Railgun spoils less of Index than Index does of Railgun.

Space Dandy: Follows the adventures of Dandy, an alien hunter who is "a dandy guy in space". Very funny show with great animation.

Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches: A young man discovers the existence of witches in his school. It's said that if all seven are brought together, a wish will be granted. Fun show with interesting characters. Well worth a watch.

Spice and Wolf: A traveling merchant ends up traveling with a 600 year old wolf deity who looks like a 15 year old girl.

Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis: A fun fantasy adventure thing. A woman steals half a key used to seal up Bahamut, a fearsome dragon. A con artist and thief who is being pursued by a fallen knight ends up getting stuck as her guide after a drunken promise. Kind of reminds me of Cowboy Bebop, which you should also see if you haven't already.

Samurai Champloo: Two ronin save a young woman, get into a fight, end up in trouble, and end up in the woman's debt. She asks them to help her find a 'samurai who smells of sunflowers' to repay the debt.

Anyway, enjoy. There's bound to be at least a few shows that appeal to you in that list somewhere. All are at least decent.

I've watched MonMusu, Overlord, Fate/UBM (and the original Fate), PS/G, Eva, Naruto, Outlaw Star, Sailor Moon, DBZ/GT/etc, Tenchi Muyo (WHY DID THEY FUCK UP THE NEW SERIES?), Highschool DXD, Love Hina, RIN: Daughters of Mnemosyne, Desert Punk, Armitage III-

Man, listing these gets hard and shows off how little otaku-cred I have...

I started watching Testament of Little Sister Devil- I'm surprised by how much lewder it is than even Highschool DXD was (Hell, it was even slightly more lewd (though less fetishized) than RIN: Daughters of Mnemosyne)

Keen.

I mentioned Cowboy Bebop already, but I'll reiterate that if you've not seen it yet. Definitely watch that.

I'll also add some more.

Trigun: A steampunk western that probably influenced Borderlands a lot.

Crunchyroll is getting Dragon Ball Super later this month. However, it's not getting it from episode one, but rather starting with the currently airing arc. You can catch up with most of it by watching the two DBS movies: Battle of the Gods and Revival of F. There's still another arc between that and what is currently happening, but anything important or relevant from that arc gets explained again well enough in the current arc that you should be able to keep up.

I expect the other episodes will show up later on. I suspect they're releasing them in batches to prevent the servers from melting down and killing their bandwidth when everyone tries to binge watch the show at once.

Season 1 of the new Voltron is pretty good and available on Netflix. It's only technically anime, but decent.

Amanchu is a fun slice of life with Yuri elements. It's about diving.

Dagashi Kashi: Is a cute slice of life thing that will teach you a lot about Japanese junk foods.

I'll list some movies as well that you should check out if you've not seen them. Great for when you don't really want to take the time for an entire series.

5 Centimeters Per Second

Children who chase lost voices

Colorful

These three are all really great dramas with superb animation.

Akira is a must and basically launched Cyberpunk as we know it today along with...

Ghost in the Shell. Avoid the 2.0 version, it's the Star Wars Special Edition of anime as all it does is add crappy CGI to the original.

However, Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence is the sequel, and while not as good, it's still excellent.

Since I'm bringing those up, Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex is a great series. Many say it's better than the movies. It's also it's own thing, and you don't need to have seen either movie to get into it. There's also a couple of movies tied into this series.

Ninja Scroll is a fantasy samurai thing, and very adult. It's not porn, but don't watch this with kids in the room.

Jin-Roh Wolf Brigade is a great military action thing.

Spriggain is another good action flick.

Summer Wars is another must see classic film.

Perfect Blue and Paprika are really great psychological thrillers. Perfect Blue was loosely adapted as a live action film called Black Swan.

The Tale of Princess Kaguya is worth seeing just for the visuals.

Red Line is another that is pure eye candy. It's about racing and all hand drawn, and it's amazing to look at.

The girl who leapt through time is pretty self explanatory.

Welcome to the Space Show: A group of kids rescue an alien dog that leads them to a galactic adventure.

Street Fighter II: The Movie: So so plot, but some of the best anime fight scenes ever created.

Then there's the usual suspects:

Princess Mononoke

Spirited Away

Naussica of the Valley of the Wind

Porco Rosso

Castle of Cagliostro

Grave of the Fireflies [Have some tissues on hand.]

Howl's Moving Castle

Tales of Earthsea

Also, the original Tenchi Muyo, Tenchi Muyo: Ryo Ohki, is getting four new episodes with the first supposedly being released at the end of November, and the others being released in three month intervals with the final episode being released at the end of August next year. It's supposedly going to add a definitive ending to the series and bringing the total number of episodes for the original OVA series up to 25 if you include the Mihoshi Special.

The last bit of Tenchi I watched was the new OVAs that ended with

The universe being fucking rewritten.

Also, finished Testament of Little Sister Devil's two seasons and OVAs. Good show- TURBO FUCKING LEWD. Masou Gakuen I just finished as well. Is it just me or will they go EVERYWHERE BUT TO PENETRATION? I thought Japan was a little more rigorous than that.

Masou Gakuen - Eh, anime skipped hard on the scene where there was a sort of penetration, putting it under spoiler for lewd,
essentially he linked up with the core after warming up himself and his new team member as in the standard recharge scenes, and then he had to insert the core device and have it "activate" inside of her, it feels like the real thing to both of them :D.
