Digimon GOSPEL

Okay, I finally got around to spell checking this again:

Chapter Listing:

Book Three:

Chapter Four: Digimon Battle Arena, Day Two, Part One û How Does It Feel, To Stare At Hopelessness on the Face?
Should be 'To Stare Hopelessness in the Face'.

I Thought Gogglehead Was Chaos, WasnÆt He?
I'm not sure this is incorrect, per se, but it would probably flow better as:

Gogglehead Was Chaos, Wasn't He?

or

I Thought Gogglehead Was Chaos?

or

Wasn't Gogglehead Chaos?

Your choice, though.

A Gentleman True and Through
Through and Through.

Book Four:

World in Ruins 1
Nothing wrong with this one, but don't you usually use 'One' instead of '1'?

I Refuse to Be Defeated by Some Cocky DaddyÆs Little Girl
Could be:

Cocky Little Girl

or

Cocky Little Daddy's Girl

I Believe I Understand Why We Became Friends on the First Place
In.

You CanÆt Save Them All, Takato (Again)
You haven't used this title before, so you don't need 'again'.

The Doom of Humanity is Humanity Itself
Not a mistake, I don't think Doom works here, but I'm not sure what else to use. Enemy, maybe? I don't know the context, so I'm just guessing, though. Maybe it makes better sense in context.

What Are the Things You Want to Protect?
Again, not a mistake, but 'What Do You Want to Protect?' might work better.

World in Ruins 2
No mistke, but beside the 'World in Ruins' thing, you've generally used 'Two'.

Book Five:

Everything I Do, I Do It for Them
No need for 'It'.

Nothing in this Universe Can Stop Me Now
Would usually be 'the', but given the cosmology of Gospel, I'm not sure.

If We Fall, We Fall Fighting Together
Might work better without the 'Fighting'.

My Feelings Are This Flame
This might be correct in context, or it might be 'Are In This Flame'. I honestly don't know.

I Came Back Just For You and Because Of You
Might want to remove the 'and' and use a semi-colon.
-

I'll get Six and Seven later.

Also, because it deserves repeating, you're awesome at naming Chapters, Daneel.

I would correct the minor grammar things ('in' instead of 'on' and so on), but other than that the titles are not to be changed. I like them exactly how they are.

Chapter Six:

Prologue: The World, and Alice, after the War
Isn't needed between 'World' and 'and'.

Chapter Nine: Inevitable Tragedy, Perverse Comedies & Unforgiving Paradoxes, Part One û Please Spare Me the Troubles and Die Quickly
I'm not sure if you'd count this as a grammatical mistake or a part of the Title, but in case it's the former it shouldn't be plural.

Book Seven:

No mistakes.

Sorry for taking so long. I'll do 'Technique' by way of apology.

Technique:

Yes theyÆre flashy.
Comma after yes.

This definition lacks details,
For this use of the word 'detail' is fine; no need for a plural.

What is the difference, then, between a Technique and any other event on Reality,
In.

the Thread of Destiny is not an automaton. It possesses intellect:
Should be 'an intellect'.

To use a Technique that obviously breaks the natural behavior of Reality; a Supernal needs to ôconvinceö the Thread of Destiny before the algorithm is actually executed.
Should be a comma.

Humans cannot use Techniques because they lack Agendas, the ôencodersö to send Reality Code to the Supernal Structures; as well as the physical and mental capacity to sustain the connection with the Structures necessary for the input and execution of Reality Code.
Should be a comma.

They are an unexpected consequence of the construction of HEMINA_URDR, which explains why only Archangels can craft and use this kind of Techniques.
Should either be 'this kind of Technique' or 'these kinds of techniques'.

This refers to entities which have acquired Supernal properties by virtue of their historical significance, yet cannon be considered to be Supernals as they lack the capacity to act on their own.
Cannot.

The second means to classify Techniques is simpler and not very useful from a technical point of view.
Means doesn't make sense. Try 'Way'.

Even after billions of years, we still know nothing about what Agendas are, what they do or even how they look like (if they have an appearance at all),
What.

Damn, "Death & Beyond." Hadn't thought of that story in years. The original, type-written version, is hidden somewhere in my parents' place, half a world away. In my PC I just have the version you saw on FF.net (translated and partially modified), the character notes and the list of Prima Incantati.

The problem I had with the "Digimon" version was that it was getting too...outlandish. While magic was the core of the original, too, it was not nearly as flashy an over-the-top as what I was making for this "all audiences" version. I felt the story was losing the mystery and creepiness I liked about the original.

I didn't mind losing the gore. I really don't know what was in my mind when I wrote some of the deaths in the original.

Thinking back, maybe Divi-Dead did inspire "Death & Beyond." It was the very first eroge I played, at a very young age. It's still one of my favorites, and Haruka was probably my first 2D crush...

...my parents never really supervised what I did in front of my computer. That's good for me, but I cannot help but feel a bit disappointed now.

Anyway.

? admit, I've thought about rewriting it. Not just translating, editing and adding little things, but actually rewriting it. It's been over a decade, so I would like to think I could do a better job now. Besides, I never really finished the Last Period in the original. I got over my depression, so I stopped typing and just scribbled the outline of the end in one of my notebooks. Unlike GOSPEL, which is really a monster of a tale, D&B would actually be manageable. I'll keep it in mind.

Heck, I've even considered writing "True Magic" again (my Yu-Gi-Oh! fanfic).

Right now, I'm really happy with Genkyouien. Which is weird, because even I can admit it's not a great story. But it's a happy story, and I guess that's what I want to write right now. Besides, like all my stories, it's inevitably becoming larger than itself. It will never be as dark as D&B or as...encompassing as GOSPEL, but I am confident it will be pretty epic.

Finally, if you don't mind, I will use this topic to spoil GOSPEL. It is not the conclusion it deserves, but it at least deserves one. It would be sad if the story I came up with dies with my neurons. I have pages and pages of notes, so I can assure you it won't be a half-hearted thing (I even started a wiki, remember?). I can present here the whole timeline of events in the GOSPEL universe, from the very beginning of the Universe (I'm talking Big-Bang here) to the end of Book 7, and maybe even further. Of course, I can answer any and all questions and present all the info about the characters and the setting. We can even talk about D&B if you wish.

P.S. ranmatoushin, send me a PM with your e-mail address and I can send you the "True Stories" I wrote. I'm in a good mood today, I guess.
I'll probably do some more spell checking on the site later today, since I have some time, but I have some questions that are not about Gospel.

I was rereading D&B, and I started to wonder, what is the relationship between a magic user and his Prima Incantati? Is it like a manifestation of who you are inside, or something like that? Where does it come from? Do you have to be a magic user to have one (I assume yes)? If so, how much magic do you need to get one? Anything above zero?

About the sensations that go with it, where do they come from? Do they depend on your personality? Your element(s)? Both?

Do PI's change, or are they the same for life? How much can you tell about a person from hearing their PI?

Also, about Magical Power in D&B, what determines it? Is it decided at birth? Can you get more of it? What's an average amount of Magical Power? How big is that related to Takato? Is magical power determined by nature, nurture, or something else? Or is there no one reason?

Finally, can you show us the character notes and the list of Prima Incantati?

You might already know this, but I finished the chapter listing.

As for your questions pertaining D&B, they'll have to wait until I have my laptop with me again.

No real mistakes, but I have found that it looks better with 'and' instead of '&'. But that's just me.

Gathering of the Exalted:

Chapter Three: Fatuous Dreams of Child-like Happiness û Scarred Queen
Again, not really a mistake, but 'Childlike' actually is one word, no hyphen needed.

Besides that, nothing else (unless you count the &'s).

Pandemonium Puppet Show:

No problems.

So, just today I notice that my Death & Beyond files are incomplete. That really sucks, because it means I'd have to take a 20-hour flight to retrieve them, and I'm not planning on doing that any time soon.

I can post the Prima Incantati, though. I'm pretty sure I'm missing one or two.

In any case, the only interesting ones were Takato's and Alice's.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alice: ôLet my breath be the whispers of our promised eternity; and my embrace the darkness that consumes your ephemeral existenceàö

Alice (True Form): ôOur limited time, so precious, so cherished! Let us turn it into our orgiastic eternity!ö

ôAsukaö: ôShall my life become a song, the last love song of this doomed planetàö

Ayla: ôMine is the flame that consumes the world, and the spirit that gives birth to the radiant utopia!ö

Joe: ôThereÆs no heartbeat. Through my dull veins flows no blood. My soul is dead.ö

Ken: ôShadows swallow reality, hiding truths better left unknownàö

Koushiro: ôThe planet sings, loves and dreams, yet our deaf ears shall never know the most glorious of truthsàö

Matt: ôThe children of eight million gods cry for their freedom. The fist of the tyrant crushes all hope.ö

Mina: ôLet my love become your sun, and my words the spring that sates your thirstàö

Misaki: ôWatch the birds fly and rejoice with their songs! They sing of hope, they sing of love!ö

Rei: ôAngels sing of a world without sorrow, and the souls of the worthy join their ecstatic revelryàö

Rika: ôTitans pound the drums of war! The world trembles on the beat of its end!ö

Ruki: ôMay the songs of the fairies soothe your eternal soul, and reveal the wonders of a world clad in colorsàö

Ryo: ôKnowing no hesitation, the supreme blade splits both earth and sky.ö

Sora: ôShall my blood be spilled for the mystery of salvationààö

Sora (original): ôMy life is a song, of love, light and hope.ö

Tai: ôMy soul burns and cries for the souls of the forgotten, I am the voice of those who shall speak no moreàö

Takato: ôShall the voice of eternity come as freezing breath, and the illusion of life fall prey to eternal darknessàö

Takato (Final Form): ôMy time is unlimited, so I shall treasure this, our limited time.ö

Talley: ôWithin the labyrinth of strife and despair, hope is but the whim of a puppeteer godàö

Yamaki: ôLike the calm breeze that never ceases to blow and the fierce storm with its relentless fury, so shall I become boundless and infinite.ö

Huh, interesting that Takeru and Pauline didn't get Prima Incanti during Death and Beyond.
Well, not everyone in that story was a magic user.

The fact that Yamato/Matt got one, and the fact that they were brothers in the original series, plus the fact that magic ran in families... I got excited by the possibility.

On this note, when you get a chance, could you give us a brief overview of where you wanted D&B to go?

Digivice is up.

I can't help but notice that the Shekinah Ruby Omnivice isn't there, though. Is it getting it's own section, or something?
Actually, I never wrote anything on the Shekinah Omnivice, so I'll have to come up with something new for the website.

Something I just remembered to ask, and this has little to nothing to do with gospel itself, but:

Where do the characters DC and BlackTerriermon come from?

I see him in a lot of fics, and his characterization is coherent enough throughout that I'm certain that they have an origin other then Digidestined of Courage's author notes.

Is their some prototypical DC and BlackTerriermon somewhere?

I ask this here because you're the only author to have used him I can actually get a hold of.

They are, indeed, a homage to DigiDestined of Courage and his 'muse' of sorts. I had a rather pleasant e-friendship with him at the time, and when I needed a tenth member for the group of protagonist, I decided to include the character 'DC'. I asked for permission and DigiDestined of Courage was kind enough to come up with a 'profile' or sorts for the OC, which helped me come up with the proper way to write him.

I should make clear, of course, that the OC 'DC' is in no way meant to resemble the fanfiction author in either appearance or behavior.

I see him around a lot.

He was in your GOSPEL stuff, he was in the original writing of Viral State, he was in To Earn Your Trust, which was kinda short, and made a bunch of appearance's in a number of fics I can't recall off the top of my head.

He probably got to pass that profile around a bit.

Another thing, something I only see now that I think back on it, do you have something against Daisuke/Davis?

His role in any of your fics that feature the 02 cast can usually be renamed to 'Side character number #3' and still be completely accurate.

Or is he just a character you have trouble writing for?
