I don't really dislike it anymore, but I definitely despised it back in the day because it was just so insanely prevalent in everything. That, and moving Hinata's character development in-fic at the speed of light to make her more super-special-awesome.
though, Hanabi x Naruto...all the babies! Or at least, more than two. With no 'oh I forgot their son should have the Byakugan' excuse either.
Well, I find Hinata a boring character with little depth and a fangirl-ish obsession. Still, this is taking it a bit far. She's fictional.
Edit, @seitora : back in the day, I despised NaruHina. Now, I just dislike it and her.
You see, I liked peggy-sue Time Travel fics, but unfortunately, they tended to focus a bit too much on romance, with 99% of that being NaruHina. The handling of the romance was just about as often (99+%) so bad that it ruined the fics, even if otherwise good. Thus, I couldn't stand the pairing, even though I started out as neutral to positive towards it.
Just to add my own two cents. I love Hinata. I liked the fact that, of everyone, she is the only character to have complete faith in Naruto and never waiver. I'm not saying it's a perfectly healthy mindset, but it is what it is. I'm also glad she got her happy ending.
That being said, I can understand why people dislike the character. Canon should have given her more screen time and development. Especially since Kishimoto knew from at least the Chunin Exam Arc that Naruto and Hinata were the end game OTP. And, I fully acknowledge that MOST fanfictions with the pairing ARE trash.
However, I and others worked too damned hard to keep negative toxicity for certain characters from poisoning this forum. It's why I fucking hate the RWBY fandom as a whole. Part of the reason I love TFF is that we are all allowed to express ourselves and get constructive criticism. It was part of why so many of us hated the DLP forums, given their near toxic hate for certain characters.
Disliking a character is perfectly fine. It's your god given right. But, holy damn, give the people who like those characters the same consideration that you expect from them.
Most fic ideas along those lines aren't good. I still give all of them a read on the off chance one of them might be good. There have been a few over the years that are passable. Unfortunately, most of those haven't been continued beyond a couple of chapters and haven't been updated in years.
