I just finished watching episode 31, and i have no clue as to how Kira wound up on a PLANT. This series is gettign more and more f***ed up as it goes along but i can't stop watching it. Kinda like X.

No, X was fucked up in the sense that the Plot Hammer Of Doom just kept falling on the protagonists, antagonists, and pretty much anyone in-between without regard or preference. Compared to that or Mai-Hime, SEED is cheap midday drama.

Anyway, I've never really been a big fan of the Gundam franchise, with the possible exception of the '08th MS Team' OVAs. It would have been a definite exception if it weren't for the ending on that one. It certainly had the best combat depictions IMO. Or at least the most 'down to earth' ones.

I prefer my mech fix by ways of Shirow or slapping on the old cooling vest and challenging someone to the Circle of Equals.

...

...

... you know, that'd be a nifty switch. In the middle of the Bloody Valentine War, a force of Coordinators arrives from somewhere beyond the solar system, intent on taking over and not taking no for an answer like the good ol' Battletech Clans of yore. It'd even fit, seeing as Coordinators and Clanners have the whole 'genetic perfection' thing they strive towards.

Hmm.

Gundam SEED's like that. Full of things that don't add up, but damn amusing all the same. It's actually one of my favorite anime.

Edit: Forgot to add his quote at the beginning.

Keep watching. It's going to be explained. Well, kinda, but you'll get a partial idea. (If you want a complete answer, read the Gundam SEED Astray manga.)

Oh, and BTW, please do yourself a favor and don't watch SEED Destiny.

Yoo late on the SEED destiny part. Already started. More political conspiracies. Don't you just LOVE them! The End of SEED pissed me off. Why did he have to die?!?!?! They even killed teh cute chiks piloting for ORB.

Believe me when I say this:

In Cosmic Era, people DON'T die when they are killed.

Dude, just shelve Seed away and go watch a good Gundam show like Zeta Gundam, Victory Gundam, Gundam X or Turn A Gundam.

Or Gundam Wing which is my personal favorite Gundam series, even if there was no really good female character besides Noin and Hilde who are already paired off so all it generates is horrible yaoi fanfiction.

Yeah, Seed was not that good. Wing was good for action, Gundam Deathsythe, and Epyon, well actually all of its mechs were kick ass. I have never seen Zeta or Double Zeta and I really want to, because I have heard good things about them (Zeta is a very depressing anime from what I heard). 8th MS team is another good Gundam series, one of the only ones that uses the standard soldier perspective, instead of the war god pilot perspective.

Double Zeta is reputedly a bit dodgy, but Zeta is pretty solid. Like the original (and Seed) it's been editted down into 3 movies which aren't licensed yet. The nice thing is that all three have considerable amounts of reanimation done which means that they look a lot better than they should given how old they are.

actually the Zeta Trilogy has been liscened by Bandai they had there US premire sometime ago in Chicago, Tomino was actually there too, no release date has been set. But then again I probaly won't get them cause I'm not a fan of condensed versions dispite the new animation (thus why I haven't seen the orignal series all the way threw yet cause they only way to get them now is the Movie Trilogy).

Now as for good Gundam series I've seen. Wing while decent story is basically the Cliff Notes UC 0079 to UC 0093 bout the only new idea added to it was the EW OVA's plot. Zeta is by far the most popular series of the franchise (yes it's dark but the fans like it that way). ZZ (Double Zeta) starts out light hearted but the other half is a decent story. and frankly I'm gonna keep my mouth shut on the CE series.

To be fair, SEED is entertaining. Not the best of the franchise, but not bad. But sadly, everything SEED managed to build got trashed by Destiny. Plot holes, zombie pilots, terrible character developent, Virgin Mary Mk. 2 and Jesus Yamato... the last scene with Freedom, Justice and Akatsuki undamaged and without a single scratch...

Z is a must, but you should watch the original triology just for general knowledge.

As for ZZ... first half is made of chickens and space aztec ninjas. If you can get past that, you'll get a good series.

true but I'd rather watch the original series that the movie trilogy is based on. mainly cause a condensed version is never better than watching the full series.

I agree from what I have heard of Zeta, one must never try to contain that amount of death and drama in a mere trilogy.

Double Zeta: er, chickens.... em, okay. I might watch it anyway, but still chickens?

Gundam SEED caused me to wite the lemon SEED of Tomorrow.

Is that a good thing or a bad thing? :hmm:

But the UC timeline gives us
In Vain Doth Valour Bleed and that IS a good thing.

Read it and review it.

I read the first 4 chapters, and I agree, it's amazing. But for a cassual reader without knowledge of U.C. history, it can be kinda confusing.

And now I need to play Gundam vs Z Gundam again. Zeon route FTW.

08th MS Team is oddly one of the few English dubs I liked.

Although that was mostly because I thought Shirou's Japanese VA was crap.
Did... did you just said... that Nobuyuki Hiyama is... crap?

A complaint I always had about the Gundam Wing Gundams was that they seemed too powerful. Any one of them could be rigged to fight in space, in atmosphere, on ground, underwater, etc. I liked the fact that the UC Gundams and most of the Seed Gundams seemed to require more thought about the battlefields enviroment.

In order to understand that, you have to read SEED astray vol2. Low Guele of the Junk guild was watching the battle b/w Kira and Athrun in his Astray. If it hadn't been for his Gerbera Straight (HUGE mobile suit katana: beam deflector coating), he would have died.

He found Kira and gave him to Reverend Malchio to take to the plants. That's where he wound up with Lacus,
