Gunstar Black here! This is the first attempt at a novelization I'm doing, so please bear that in mind.

Now, onto more serious things: this novelization is about the Game Boy Advance game, ([{Gunstar Super Heroes}]), the continuation to the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive game, ([{Gunstar Heroes}]). Therefore, this means the fic will have SPOILERS!!111. If you can't accept the fact that it has those, and would rather have I write an original story, please take the emergency exits on the left and right sides.

To all remaining passengers, please enjoy your ride, and remember this...!

Prologue: Before the Mission...

In the pastà

Two heroes fought against the terrible Destructor. These two noble heroes were known as the Gunstar Heroes. But nothing else was known about them.

They beat the Destructor in an epic battle on the Moon. The Destructor exploded, resulting in a genesis.

A genesis of 4 new moons that orbited the Earth. As time passed, development occurred on the 4 moons. It was a prosperous era; Then a 5th moon appeared. This moon served as an ominous omen.

A huge military satelliteà Created by the Empire.

It plans to resurrect the Destructor, the God of Ruin. Its obsession since the find of a Relic, the Megalith. But the EmpireÆs grab for power hasnÆt gone unnoticed.

The 3YE force on Earth has created a unit to stop it. This elite unit has been given the codenameà

Gunstar Super Heroes

The home base of the Gunstar Super Heroes lied in the populated city of Neo Tokyo, which had been rebuilt over the ruins of Tokyo, destroyed in the battle between the Gunstar Heroes and the Destructor.

Inside the main room, Kira Eluro watched a video hologram of the 3YE commander, who was giving her the last instructions she needed for the first meeting between the Gunstars and their immediate superior. She wasnÆt very sure as to why she had been chosen for this role, but it was an order from the higher-ups, and she had no reason why she would disobey them on that.

ôàand please, Eluro-san, do not reference the ælunch room incidentÆ when in their presence. The last person to do so had to be sent to the infirmary for three months.ö Kira gulped. Three months? The Gunstars had probably done quite a number on himà

She nodded and saluted him, before bowing. ôI understand, Commander-san. I will do my best to not cause any trouble,ö she told him, who shook his head.

ôNo, Eluro-san. We doubt you will cause any trouble to us. They, on the other handàö he left the sentence hanging, before shaking his head. ôAnyway, good luck, and hopefully we wonÆt have to contact each other again. Commander out.ö And, with that, the hologram died.

Kira sighed, and sat down on her chair. She wasnÆt too sure whether she was really ready for this job, but it was better than the desk job she was in before, she presumed. As she looked at the Plexiglas table, she could see her reflection in ità a young girl, not much older than twenty, with green eyes and light brown hair that went down to her shoulders, wearing the traditional uniform û a black one-piece bodysuit that only didnÆt reach her arms, a white sleeveless jacket with yellow trimmings, a yellow skirt that had an opening near the center and upwards, yellow boots and gloves, and long black gloves underneath.

She didnÆt like it much, since this uniform was a tad too exposing, in her opinionà but it was better than what some of the others wore, thatÆs for sure. Her thoughts went back to the Gunstars û there hadnÆt been any news of him, had there? What if-

The noise of the door opening distracted her, and she turned around to see the newcomers. Their uniforms made it clear û they were the Gunstar Super Heroes. She remembered the information she had received from the commander, a few minutes before.

Aori, Gunstar Blue, a blonde youngster who had a cool personality. Although he was known for relapse and underestimations in battle, his great aim and quick thinking more than made up for it.

Akari, Gunstar Red, a redhead with a temper as hot as the color of AkariÆs hair. Not one to sit down and wait, Akari was prone to anger and action û rash and impulsive, but also a great asset.

The main difference between those two lied in their uniforms û while Aori had blue gloves and boots, Akari had red gloves and boots, as well as a crimson streak down the uniform that divided in two at the center area. Akari also lacked the jacket Rika and Aori had.

Currently, however, the two were being quite noisy, as Akari kept trying to ask something of Aori. Rika cleared her throat, surprising the duo. ôGreetings, Akari, Aori. I am Rika Eluro, Gunstar Yellow. May I please know why you two are arguing?ö she asked, keeping her voice calm.

ôGreetings, Rika!ö Akari saluted, before pointing an accusing finger at Aori. ôAori here isnÆt telling me where he is keeping my personal item!ö Rika blinked.

ôYour personal item?ö she asked, looking at Aori. He snorted.

ôAkari thinks I stole a doll.ö Akari stomped forward, getting in his face.

ôYou must have! Who else would be allowed in my room?!ö Akari demanded, making him wince.

ôJeez, Akari, can you be any louder? I think they havenÆt heard you on the other side of the base,ö he joked, as he pushed Akari away a tad ungently. Rika sighed.

ôLookà I think weÆre starting on a wrong foot here. Can you two please stop arguing and introduce yourselves?ö she asked, rubbing her temple. Akari turned towards her and nodded, before glaring at Aori, indicating it was not over, while he just laughed a bit.

ôOkay, okayà I am Aori Yukino, age 19, codename Gunstar Blue. I was chosen for my marksmanship skills, quickthinking, and precise movements,ö he stated, as if he was signing up for a new job, before smirking. ôDo you want my measurements too, Kira?ö

ôOh, pleaseàö Kira grumbled, as she turned towards Akari. ôWhat about you?ö

Akari saluted. ôI am Akari Hino, age 18, codename Gunstar Red. My specialties are dexterity, agility, and crowd control.ö

Kira nodded. ôThank you. Now, I believe the two of you are not used to 3YE yet, am I correct?ö she asked, and the two nodded. ôWell, 3YE is a special defense/investigation team set up in Earth, in order to watch for each of the EmpireÆs movements and counter them, in case of serious threats. The Gunstar Unit û thatÆs us û has been set up in order to investigate and stop any seriously dangerous plans that might bring forth the destruction or conquest of the planet and the moons, such as the resurrection of the Destructor. Therefore, our duty lies with the people of Earth and the four moons. Do you understand?ö

Akari nodded eagerly, while Aori snorted quietly. ôOh, pleaseà you mean to tell us that we are supposed to be stopping THE Empire û that massive army that has tried to take over the world before û all by ourselves?ö Kira nodded again.

ôThe previous Gunstar Heroes have done that, and against worse odds, even; they did not have such technology as we have today, and the opponents were much worse than the ones we believe the Empire possesses.ö

Suddenly, the lights dimmed down, and the emergency red lights began to soar, as well as an alarm. ôWhatÆs going on?!ö Akari asked, as the three looked around, nervously.

ôThereÆs something wrongà the only reason why the alarm would be sounding isàö Realization came over her face, and she turned towards Akari and Aori. ôGunstars! ItÆs an emergency! Put on your armors and equipment and meet me at the exit port ASAP! This is not a drill!ö she told them, instinctively, before she began to run away. Aori blinked.

ôWoah, wait a second! Do you mean weÆre being attacked?ö he asked, as she was exiting the room. She turned around.

ôNot usà but 3YE! We must hurry!ö she alerted, before leaving them. Akari began to follow.

ôWait, Akari! Where do you think youÆre going?ö Aori asked, a bit confused.

ôIÆm going to the armory, of course! Come on, Blue!ö Akari replied, without stopping.

Aori blinked again. ôOkayà guess I should go too, thenàö he said to no one, before following Akari.

Wow this is really quite something and I see nothing wrong with it thus far, you've really payed homage to a Megadrive (as its known in my country) classic and it still remains one of my favourite games to this day I might add.

Okay, I've played through Gunstar Super Heroes now.

Aside from some proofreading being necessary, there aren't many problems with this one. It's just short, and rather unpolished.

Points of note: Yellow isn't a Gunstar, since she doesn't go out and do the shooting. She's a 3YE agent like Red and Blue.
Also, Red happens to be a girl. Shocked? Well, I wasn't, but some might be. She looks noticeably female (albeit slender, likely due to physical fitness) in a full-body image you see in Blue's Hard Mode ending - right before confessing her love for Blue.

Thanks to the reviews, I think... but, well, Toraneko, in this case, the one in the wrong is you.

1-In my story, the ENTIRE unit (four of the characters) are called Gunstars. In Yellow's case, since she is a field agent (she pilots your ship), she counts as one.
2-Yes, I know that too. But, in the Japanese version, Red's a boy. Now, you can consider this a homage, but until the last chapters are released, I'm not stating Akari's true gender. Besides, it's funny.

So, next chapter, tell me what I did wrong and the best way to improve (kind of necessary, by the way, so don't forget it), please.

Chapter 1: When Empires Strike

Kira grumbled, as she waited for the Gunstars to come. It had been more than enough time; did they really have to spend so much time putting on the armors and picking up their weapons? She would hate to see what theyÆd do if they had to pilot the shipà

Sighing, she looked around her once more. The Gunstar Craft was a finely designed ship, made for planetary and interplanetary transportation. It was a large, white ship with a blue antigravitational on the bottom, to aid on the landing. Three boosters stood on the back, and overall, it was another example of how fine 3YE was.

Still, it meant nothing, if it couldnÆt get off the ground.

Kira was about to call the Gunstars, when she saw the double doors to the hangar opening, and the two came inside, wearing a white armor over their chest, AoriÆs jacket closed for the moment. AkariÆs armor also included red shoulder pads with a yellow streak, while Aori had blue shoulder pads with a black streak. In their belts, two large black guns were strapped to them, with a strange spherical device in place of the safety feature. ôSorry weÆre late, Yellow!ö Akari screamed, making everyone inside wince. ôWe were just having a problem with choosing our weapons!ö

She blinked. A problem? What kind of problem could that be, that would delay them so much? That didnÆt really make much senseà ôUmà Akari, Aori, what kind of problem?ö she asked, putting her aforementioned thoughts in words.

Aori ætskÆÆed. ôAkari here,ö he began, before being elbowed by Akari.

ôItÆs Red, Blue! DonÆt you remember the codenames?ö Akari asked, and Aori had to sigh.

ôFine. Red here thought this gun wasnÆt mine. So, Red took it. The problem was, that was my gun, so I tried to take it back, but Red didnÆt want to give it back, so-ö he stopped when Kira raised a hand, her other hand on her temple.

ôForget ità I donÆt really want to hear that yet. Explain it to me later; right now, we need to get on the road; communications are still scrambled and we need to find out more,ö she explained, as the two walked inside the ship. In a few moments, it began to take flight, and began flying all the way towards the 3YE Base on Central Tokyo-2.

1234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890

ôThis is Kira Eluro of the Gunstar Super Heroes! Respond, HQà I repeat, this is Kira Eluro of the Gunstar Super Heroes! Respond, 3YE!ö Kira barked onto the communicator in her mouthpiece, still without a response. ôStill nothingà what is going on? How could someone overwhelm our HQ? We have over 300àö She paused, an idea coming to mind. ôThis couldÆve only happened if someone betrayed us! We must have had an Imperial spy among our ranks!ö

ôMust have been someone pretty good, to manage such a large-scale operation in such a short time,ö Aori quipped, as the Gunstar Craft traveled through the air at high speeds, while Akari glared at the monitor, which was indicating nothing at all.

ôGreatà is this going to take too long? The EmpireÆs attacking us and all we can do is stay watching a damn monitor all day long!ö Akari complained, even as Kira swerved over a higher platform, forcing the two Gunstars onto the ground. ôAh!ö

ôWeÆre here already. Head to the teleporters! IÆll beam you guys down as soon as we reach platform G!ö she commanded, and the duo nodded.

ôRoger!ö

ôYeah, yeah, moving out!ö

1234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890

In a few moments, the two Gunstars were released onto the ground, already holding their traditional weapons, the Gunstar Force guns. These were the two sleek and large black pistol-shaped guns, with large spheres at the part where the barrel connected to the handle, and were mentioned previously in this chapter a while ago. Already activated, these spheres now had an icon on each side, different for the two Gunstars: a set of red shots for Akari, and a continuous blue shot for Aori. These represented the current shots they had û Fire Shot and Lightning Shot û and were also means by which theyÆd identify how powerful the shots were.

However, as they landed, they quickly found themselves surrounded by various grunts, traditional cloned soldiers that wore blue jumpsuits, black boots, white armors and helmets with green goggles that saw in infrared, ultraviolet, invisible, Geiger, and sound speed, and all shared the amount of brain cells a common brain has.

ôSeems like they had a meeting party just for usàö Aori joked, a grin beginning to form on his face.

ôLetÆs not have them wait very much, thenàö Akari added, before running ahead, firing several energy shots at the grunts on AkariÆs side, while Aori shot electrical lasers at the ones closer to him. In seconds, they had exploded violently into clouds of flames, their bodies being disposed of cleanly.

However, some of the grunts hopped from behind them, as they reached the center of the platform, and tried to get the jump on themà but the Gunstars were smarter than them. ôNo way youÆre gonna be stopping usà GUNSTAR PUNCH!ö Aori screamed, as he delivered a mighty uppercut, sending the grunts flying off the platform.

ôGUNSTAR SLIDE!ö Akari made a swerving motion towards the mass, forcing the grunts away with the bootÆs heel, even as Akari slid a few meters forward while still standing up. Aori blinked, but before he could speak, a fat grunt wearing a larger armor jumped down to their level, making the ground shake and forcing the Gunstars back, even as a small battle plane flew down, soldiers on the wings, ready to jump down.

ôWhy, you littleàö Aori cursed, hopping up and grabbing onto the underside of the plane, the Gunstar Grips on his left hand coming into action and sticking to the bottom. ôEat this!ö he added, before firing blasts upwards, ramming through the cockpit and forcing it off the air, even as it exploded with the grunts.

Meanwhile, Akari had just finished dealing with the fat grunt, having used the second mode of the Gunstar Force gun: the Burst Shot, a short-range explosive charge that spread a few meters upon release or blast, and that was more damaging than the regular shots. ôCome on! We still need to get through!ö Akari called, as the two went through the automatic double doors, which opened for them.

1234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890

Inside, they had entered a simulation room, being forced to fight continuous waves of holographic grunts that kept on coming, even after they had been shot a thousand times in the head, killing whatever few brain cells they had. ôDonÆt they ever stop?ö Aori asked, having whipped out his Gunstar Blade, a metallic energy knife that was used for close quarters combat and began cutting the grunts apart, just for the sheer fact that it was a good way to practice his anger management classes.

ôI donÆt knowà look out, theyÆre coming from the air now!ö Akari alerted, as several grunts had been generated in mid-air, and the Gunstars were even more surrounded now than they were before.

Aori shrugged. ôGahà I have an idea. Capsule blast!ö Picking up one of the EmpireÆs trademark explosive capsules, a spherical device that exploded upon impact and generated a defensive field around the very short range, he cracked it and threw it on the ground, even as the grunts were all hopping at them. Grabbing Akari in time, they watched as the explosions harmlessly passed through them, sending the grunts flyingà until one of them crashed onto a wall, that wall fizzing and opening.

ôWhat was that?ö Akari asked, curious. He shrugged.

ôMust have been a secret doorà good thing the grunts just left this on the ground where anyone could pick it up. LetÆs go already, then?ö he asked, even as he was being pulled by his companion towards the other room.

1234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890

On the next room, they were actually in a large floor elevator with an open ceiling, and rushed to the center quickly; the elevator began moving downwards, even as enemies followed suit. ôSatellites!ö Akari exclaimed, as they saw small spherical devices hover down to them, firing small plasma pellets from concealed guns on their eyes.

Aori tried to shoot some down, to no avail. ôDangà Too fast for the regular shots, and Burst doesnÆt have the same rangeàö he reasoned, before smirking. ôGuess we should try the Homing Shot, then.ö Pressing a button on the Gunstar Force guns, the current icons switched to a green continuous shot, and they began firing. Small green bursts flew ahead, changing direction as they went straight to the targets, blasting them apart.

While Akari continued firing, Aori began hopping at the closer Satellites, slashing at them or kicking them. In no time, they had reached the floor they were headed to, and ran through the open doors.

1234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890

Now they were inside some sort of storage room, as they watched the grunts ahead, some of them manning machineguns. ôI wonder where everyone isàö Akari asked, and Aori just shrugged.

ôBeats me. Heads up!ö he told Akari, as he jumped over the crate meant to be a barrier, firing his gun at the fat grunt ahead. Akari nodded, and began firing back at the machinegun grunt, watching his weapon explode just before he did as well.

ôDang, these guys explode way too easily,ö Aori commented, as he blasted the second machinegun grunt, and Akari just nodded.

ôWell, it could be worseà they could hurt us,ö Akari commented, and he looked at Akari weirdly.

ôOh, come on, like thatÆd ever happen. DonÆt be stupid, and GET DOWN!ö he ordered, even as he fired over Akari, who had crouched at that moment, turning around and firing as well. The grunts who thought theyÆd be able to surprise them were blasted apart, and they rushed up the stairs, to findà

ôLOOK OUT!ö Akari screamed, as the two Gunstars barely avoided the fat grunt who was rolling like a ball after them, crashing onto the wall.

Before he could turn around, recovering from the recoil, the blasts from both Lightning and Fire Shots struck him, and he exploded in a few seconds, as the two heroes went through the open doors towards the central area. ôThat was too easyà but why would a fat grunt be here?ö Aori wondered, and Akari shrugged.

ôI dunno. Maybe he was some sort of last defense?ö Aori didnÆt say anything, however, for ahead of them was a strange person.

1234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890

This person was a tall man, wearing a blue outfit underneath a large gray armor over his torso with a large red cape hanging on his back, gray gloves, and a metal helmet to add to the appearance. He was busy typing something, when the Gunstars climbed up the stairs, and he got up, grinning evilly.

ôGreetings. I am General Gray,ö he greeted them, pulling out a data disk from the computer drive. Aori pointed his gun at him.

ôYou! YouÆre the enemy general whoÆs been leading the EmpireÆs forces! What are you doing here?!ö he asked, and Gray laughed.

ôYouÆre too late, Gunstars. I have already acquired the data I need,ö he replied, and the Gunstars tried to approach, but Gray was faster and fired at the ground with a plasma gun, forcing them back. ôNow, nowà stay there, and just wait, will you?ö

Akari grunted. ôWhere are all the guards? What have you done with them?ö Gray twirled his gun, and put it on the holster.

ôAh, I erased them with the power of the Megalith,ö he commented, as if he had just told them he had just been selling Boy Scout cookies.

ôMegalithà What the heck is a Megalith?ö Akari asked, confused, and Aori took point.

ôWhat do you hope to gain by this?ö he asked. Gray smirked and punched some commands, even as he continued to watch them.

ôOnly to free the moons from Earth's oppression. With this data, we'll gather the 4 Treasure Gems. Once we have them, we'll call forth the God of Ruin!ö The Gunstars were taken aback, realizing the threat this manÆs words held.

ôWhat kind of utter nonsense is this?ö Aori asked, and Gray just laughed harder, when the GunstarsÆ communicator rang.

ôGunstars, I-ö Kira called them, and Aori tapped onto it.

ôNot now, Kira!ö he barked, but Kira cut him in time.

ôPlease help me! IÆm under attack! I need support!ö The Gunstars, taken aback, tried to talk back to her, but the communication was broken at that point.

ôThere was no warning! Where did it come from?!ö Akari asked, and Gray sneered at them.

ôHmph. You cannot comprehend the power of the Megalith,ö he told them, and Aori tried to run back at him, but a plasma shot wizzed to the side of his head, making him pause.

ôThatÆs the latest Earth technology! How-ö

ôDon't you see? We also have support on Earth as well! Soon you'll learn the truth. The Earth shall pay for its crimes on the moons. Absilio Mundus!ö Gray snapped back, before hopping away, disappearing. The Gunstars tried to fire at him, but they were too late; Gray was gone already.

ôShoot, we failed!ö Aori cursed, but Akari tugged onto his arm.

ôCome on, weÆve got to get to Yellow!ö

1234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890

The trip back was relatively uneventful at first, what with them just having to deal with more Satellite drones, although the holographic room now contained a Tankard, a large mobile armored drone that was the main obstacle, if one didnÆt count the many grunts to still be there.

Of course, there was the fact that the Tankard was firing blasts of extremely harmful and deadly blue fire, a substance that had been discovered years ago and was known for its lethalness.

However, a hop onto the top and a series of shots caused it to explode in a non-harmful manner. The Gunstars hopped off the now wrecked remains of the Tankard, and continued their path through the room, blasting more and more grunts, until they reached the courtyard.
