Happy New Year's 2022!

I am certain many people were hoping for 2021 to be much better than 2020. Unfortunately, for many people, it was more like 2020-2: Electric Boogaloo. Though vaccinations came and most of us will have gotten double-vaccinated or even triple-vaccinated, variants beat up on their effectiveness. Fortunately, there still does seem to be a light around the tunnel, in that the severity of cases has curtailed even as overall cases go down.

So, what are your resolutions for the next year?

Looking at my resolutions from the NY2021 topic...

1. Purchase a house - Success! I haven't moved in yet, but will in a few months.
2. Increase my net worth by a specific amount - Success! Though I won't get into the particulars of the exact amount, I'm very happy with how I made out last year
3. Lose a decent amount of weight - Success! I lost about 55lbs last year.
4. Continue to reduce my gaming and reading backlog - Success! Sort of. I knocked out 20 games last year, many of them being 50hr+ or even 100hr+ epics, but of course I still buy games, so I need to keep working away at it. My reading backlog I didn't fare out with as well, even though I made a little bit of headway.
5. Actually write some more. - Complete Failure. I didn't publish a single word in 2021.

My 2022 resolutions, in no particular order:

1. Travel. In the last 22 months since I moved literally three weeks before the pandemic broke out, I have travelled only twice, driving 400km to the big city. One was to write a government exam since in true government bureaucracy, I couldn't write closer to home. The other was to watch a pro sports football game and some general shopping. I would like to actually be able to go somewhere this year, and the reason I haven't before is not for a lack of money!

2. Increase my networth again.

3. Lose more weight again. At the rate I'm going, I think by early to mid 2023 I will finally be at an ideal weight. It took me 10 years to put on lots of weight, so thankfully it shouldn't take as long to get it all off!

4. Get a significant other. This might be the hardest thing for a lot of us here! My self-esteem is directly correlated with my weight, though, so I'm certainly a lot more comfortable with putting myself out there now than this time last year.

5. Actually really legitimately write and publish something this year.

6. Get some more into baking and cooking. I very rarely buy from restaurants, but I still do purchase more processed foods than I care to admit, even if I still also eat lots of healthier stuff. I'd like to start making some more stuff right from scratch. Once I move into my house, I should have a lot more room for tools and counter space to do so.

Grats on accomplishing what are, to me, your most important/impressive resolutions.

Congrats on buying your own home. And #4 is something I'm planning to do myself this year, as I have a huge backlog of books to be read.

Significant others are expensive.... :) Actually, I'm just of the general opinion that there is not a woman on the face of the planet that would put up with me.... :)

More seriously....

I do want to try to loose some weight...

I might consider a car in the future, but no huge hurry, since my current car is only 5 1/2 years old, I'll be waiting for new car prices in the U.S. to drop back down. I'd be willing to go with a smaller cheaper fuel efficient car. and I think the RAV4 a bit big, and the Corrolla cross ugly. I'd prefer a VW Golf Wagon or a Subaru Impreza Wagon, but neither is currently producing a car in the U.S. I want.

I hope that after 'twenty twenty won', we won't get '2020-2, Electric Boogaloo', to borrow a phrase from you, @seitora .

I actually managed most of my aims too for 2021, and these are my aims for 2022:

1. Reducing further any money owed to others
2. Keeping with my diet -- losing weight
3. Related to 2., keeping up my walks and hikes for my health and weight, and possibly increasing the frequency
4. Writing more in 2022 than I did in 2021, 2020 and 2019; actually progressing in my original fiction writing
5. Go on more trips, at least once a week
6. Go all out on Pokemon GO; related to 3. and 5., as that particular game is about going to places (duh!)

Checking in two months in...

1. I've got travel plans for three large trips this year in June, August, and December. I'll see how they pan out.

2. January hit me hard with my investment portfolio, but February and March so far have seen a solid upturn.

3. Down 10lbs and change already, and on a decent gradual trend downwards still.

Checking in 4 months in...

I finally have my house! In the process of moving all my stuff from my apartment into my house over the next week.

2. Stonk market going stonks. I'll just take the opportunity to DCA.

3. Down 20lbs for the year now. Water weight is a pain in the rear end though. That might sound like sour grapes, but I literally do not buy enough food to be able to get fatter.

Be prepared to keep spending money. All The Money.

Your house knows your wallet still has something left in it, and it wants to eat that too.
