Well you could use Eriol Hiiragizawa as well. After all he is from England.

Here's one idea of mine. In the book's there is the image of Fudge and his administration beleiving that with the magical world being seperate from the mundane world, they don't have to follow the British rule of law. Any of the corrupt going ons are swept under the rug and Downing Street is only informed of a major crisis when deemed necessary. Thus, what happens when the Prime Minister, after a crisis before the second rise of Voldemort (Sirius' escape or the World Cup attack), desides to quietly have a British agency investigate the Wizarding Goverment on possible treason charges.

The agency: Torchwood

Well, given Torchwood's general level of incompetence, they should fit right in, especially if you're using the team from the TV series.

A rather humourous extension of this idea is that Torchwood Two is run by Aberforth Dumbledore, and that Torchwood Four is the Department of Mysteries.

Not too sure of what use this might be, but it's a thought I had to get outta my head. Was reading one of the Pern books (All the Weyrs of Pern to be precise) and was reminded that the dragons and their riders could travel between time by visualizing star patterns/landmark positions int he right place for the time they wanted to be displaced to. Was just thinking, what if something similar could happen in HP when visualizing a location to go to for Apparation and/or Portkey creation. Have it be something that mebbe nobody has ever stumbled across, or that takes a certain power threshold to make work. Be an alternative to Harry and Co having to stumbled across a timeturner.

I'm pretty sure that Anne McCaffrey (the writer of the Pern books) completely forbids fanfiction for her works. FFnet has a section for her, along with some other authors who don't allow it, and I really don't know how they get away with that, legally.

Yeah, not sure how you'd stop someone that isn't making any cash offa using your ideas/setting/characters nor claiming that they belong to them :hmm: Though if such works were having a negative impact on perception of the series then I suppose I could see that :huh.:

Anyways, I wasn't so much suggesting the idea that Harry wind up on Pern just in time for a Hatching, but that the concept of using the right visualization and pushing hard enough while apparating could inadvertantly lend itself to time travel. Not really a story idea so much as a gimmick that could be used instead of trying to have Harry (or other character) get their hands on a time turner.

I don't know if this is the right place to post but here's an idea:

When Sirius fell through the veil, he doesn't end up in the realm of the dead. He ends up on Faerun, preferably near one of the powerful wizards or sorcerers on the realm, like Elminster or Simbul.

Why has anyone ever returned from going through the veil? They probably pissed off the wrong person, since HP wizards aren't known to be humble.

After they hear about Dumbledore's mistakes, some of them return to the HP world to help train Harry. Or just to learn about the different types of magic that is in the HP world.

Some of the meeting can be very interesting. Halaster, meet Hagrid. :snigger: :snigger:

Harry developing a variant of the banishment charm, it only works on living things. The bad thing is that it drops them off on Ilsa Sorna...

The other bad news, Sorna blacks the use of magic due to a high concentration of whatever. However Hagrid findsout about it and keeps begging to be sent there.

Suppose the Pactio ceremony from Negima existed in the Potterverse, and was in semi-common use, both between magic-users, and when a magic-user take a squib or muggle as a partner, servant, or spouse.

Harry Potter the nay invincible and immortal homunculus would probably put a dent in Voldy's plans but there are a lot of things you would have to figure out.

First they are born as almost amorphous blobs witch bare only the slightest resemblance to a human being, at least until someone feeds them those red stones as i recall.

Next is the fact that homunculus don't age.

I'm not even going to mention the total lack of morals, human compassion and other assorted feelings, though to be honest a Harry Potter without scruples or morals would probably be and entertaining read to say the least.

Also i remember that they weren't able to use alchemy at all so i would have to wonder about Harry's magical abilities.Granted alchemy is a completely different branch of magic but as i recall in the HP world it was supposed to be "transfiguration through potions" or something like that.

Not to say i wouldn't love to see a fic where Harry is a bloodthirsty magical construct with little to no morals and is basically imortal with a bunch of cool powers, it's just that there are a lot of things to work out.

knowing the HP magic system any sort of creature like that would be kinda screwed up in one way or another retarded sort of way, aging would just be a slow development do to lack of constant magical influence upon harry, sorta the idea that 'those red stones' as you put it are like super dense chunks of raw magic energy or something and without the total amount, having maybe gotten just 1 he has to absorb ambient magic energy from around him, there wouldn't be much in privet drive, which would account for his malnurished and underdeveloped apperance, now once he gets to hogwart.......

well lets just say that things get interesting, especially considering the amount of magic that has not only been absorbed by the castle itself but the shear amount let off by students each day, not counting each year......hey, might not be a 'red stone' but it sure as hell will do at least part of the job.

I had a crack idea thanks to these rules in the Rules you better follow.
177)-You shall not tell the House-Elf staff about Ninja and their legendary loyalty and usefulness.
177a)-Giving them pamphlets about this subject is forbidden.

178)-You shall not spread rumor about a Ninja-Village of house-elves Hidden behind the Kitchen.
178a)-Dobby is not the Shodai Kitchenkage or a shinobi, even if he has started to wear a long robe with body armor underneath and a weird hat.
Thanks to the myriad of 300/Naruto clips around I immediately jumped to having a death eater envoy at Hogwarts basically stating to give Harry to Voldemort and with Dobby popping in and stating never and then making with the entire
"This is MADNESS!"
"Madness? THIS IS HOGWARTS!"

For some reason this idea popped up in my head and just wouldn't leave. I'll try writing it out but no promises

After seeing the horrific abomination that is Book 7, I'm tempted to propose a fic where all of the canon kids Rowlings made up are perverts. In particular, Harry's kids are furries and into incest. Just to spite that damnable Harry/Ginny Sue pairing.

Harry crying tears of blood and Ginny hanging herself when they find out is optional, but greatly encouraged. -_-

I'd say go for it...but in my mind every fic that uses material from the last two books just further validates them. And that just won't do, since they were complete and utter shit, with only the barest sprinkling of interesting ideas.

RESURRECT!

As this is the misc-ideas thread, I see no reason not to necro it, so I'll be putting this idea here.

One Kasugano Midori gets a letter from Hogwarts. Uh-huh, that Midori. Addressed right to the hand.

Dunno, it seems amusing. Hermione would get a friend, at least. Seiji would have a hard time fitting in. Until he kicked Malfoy's ass like it had never been kicked before. Then he'd be an instant hit. Except with Snape. Then, when his sister inevitably shows up to screw with him... Snape revises his opinion as to who is the scariest person in the world. Would be funny to see modlyshorts take one look at Rin and then run the other way.

Anyway, just seems like it could be an interesting crossover.

Taking an idea from the Naruto section, how about Harry imprinting on someone while he's young and emulating them

While Itachi!Harry could be rather amusing for a short time, others could be even more so with the setting.

How about Harry imprinting on The Doctor...imagine him finding a Time Turner before Hogwarts and manages to accidentally absorb it.

As another Imprint that would be terrifying, imagine Harry having thought of himself as Alucard...
