Normally I would just lock away the crappyness that are the movies in a dark dark corner of my mind.
But...My goddamn family succeeded in dragging me to watch the Order of the Phoenix...
Honestly? It was goddamn boring, the only thing that was good was the special effects and....you guessed it! LUNA! She was goddamn cute, and pretty much spot on in how she acted.

This made me want to watch the other movies for the hell of it, 2,3 and 4 respectivily.
Sooo, will this be interesting?
Vomit inducing?
Mind numbing terror?
Severly Serious Stupidity?

Only watched the first and second now...Ginny awake after Tommy and Blinky bite it, WTF?
Vomit inducing scene right there, I fear for my soul and sanity...
Gonna watch the third now...Makes me wish I wasn't a atheist... :sweat2:

Ive been avoiding seeing the fifth, just because I'm not sure if I can take another two hours or so wih Dan Radcliff.

MY sister was interested, so she mighte see it eventually. I'll wait for her report before I decide to go or not.

Honestly, Luna would be the main reason I go as well.

I've been avoiding reading those spoilers posted up here a couple of days ago, although the last oneshot by Rorshack blot apparently had spoilers I didn't manage to avoid. I just want to read this last book and have closure once and for all.

The movies will probably just extend my agony.

In all honesty

Movies 1 & 2 are written, directed and shot to be kids movies designed to rake in all the little fanatics $$$$.

Don't like studio flicks, you'll hate these two films.

That they also managed this while being marginally satisfying to the adults by suppling some decent acting by Brit actors and decent SFX scenes eg the troll, Quidditch etc. Note the use of John Cleese as Nearly Headless Nick.

These are very much studio films and it shows.

It also introduces Alan Rickman into the role of Severus Snape. The man shows his acting chops by masterfully taking the role and making it his own.

This proceeds to spell doom for the as yet unwritten books as Rowlings previously character development for Snape is tossed boldly aside for Rickman's Snape. Not that I blame her seeing as Rickman!Snape is a far better character than Rowling!Snape.

****

Movie 3 on the other hand, was the best movie thus far in my opinion

Alfonso Cuar?n manages to churn out a pretty damn good film in the area of Youth Horror.

Darkness pervades this film, and the world is a much scarier place.

After all it also sets off all the Lupin yaoi fan girls......

It also does the worst out of the HP movies at the box office.

********

Movie 4 is back to a Studio Flick. This time with workable studio frameworks to build set piece scenes around. With the World Cup, the Schools arriving, the 3 challenges, Yule ball. It would take a hack of Studio Director to muck it up.

They don't, but also deliver a standard Studio Film.

*******
Movie 5

They push things again with director David Yates.

Fortunately he and Micheal Goldenberg manage to condense Book 5 down to its core elements then casts his own 1984 slant on things.

Hate political drama's you'll likely dislike this film. Which is essentially what this film is about, Harry and eventually other Hogwarts students pushing back against authority and rebelling.

Luna steals the show however..... The hell is Rowling thinking anyway calling her MarySue Ginny Harry's perfect girl. A MarySue is by definition perfect anyways.

Luna and Harry is much more believable as the two outsiders click.

Long story short.

To make sense of Books 5 and onward..... You need to watch the movies to understand how Snape turned from the vile bastard of Book 3 to this Oh So Complex, tortured and I'm a Secret Good Guy of Books 5 and onward.

I could take the right bastard Snape working for Dumbledore. A selfish self motivated evil bastard works purely because its out of Snapes own interests. Not because he's a good guy but because Snape knows the Dark Lord isn't going to let Severus have what he wants.

The only really good thing I've seen in the movies is Luna Lovegood, and even then I think they took away from the importance of her scenes.

Yes.

Upon looking, it's Loonies and Lions.
Where's the list for the names of the different 'ships?
This has a list of ships, alphabetic by person, but you need to click on one of the links to find out the name.

The second movie was awesome, much darker than the first 3rd or 4th book in terms of over all paranoia.

The first movie was a kids movie, but a well done one.

The 3rd movie was too much for 1 30 minutes.

The 4th was timely managed and came out nicely, and the death of Cedric and rebirth of Voldemort climaxed the film splendidly.

The 5th had awesome character development, each person had their own role to play and performed it beautifully, no matter how little screen time they had, and any changes or omissions made to the films were explained or were greased over bits that were inconsequential to the film over all. The scene with Dumbledore and Voldemort showed the sheer power master wizards use in their technique they transform magic far beyond words and wand waving to an extension of ones own will.
Harry's dream sequences compounded upon with his discussions and rising tensions only helped to bolster the aura around the film.

And I mean they really got you to hate Umbridge and her fascist rule.

God I hate her. Grrrrrrrr.

I give it +10 ridiculously good.

And there's no denying there was some damn good ass in it all. Tonks(Seriously happy about who they got to play her) and Bellatrix(Despite her Britishness showing clearly in her teeth I could clearly say 'Yup I'd hit that')

I mean come on, what's to complain?

Gonna have to disagree here. The fourth is the one I actually bothered with going to the cinema to see, and it sucked ... it sucked hairy donkey balls.

The pacing was screwed up, whoever hacked up the script apparently didn't know that there is such a thing as storytelling and managed to make the damn thing as close to confusing as possible to anyone who's not actually read the book ... honestly, when you watch it, it's like seeing a series of badly written fanfic snippets shown one after another _without the damn narrative glue that's supposed to keep this crap together_ anywhere in sight.

Just about the only thing worthwhile about the film is Voyeur!Myrtle, and even that's stretching it.

Besides, they cut out the Veela. Unforgivable!

Liked one and two (one IS just a kids book, if you guys forgot), two was pretty badass.

Three...I didn't like. Too many bird shots, too much abstract bullshit.

Four had deffo evidence of the director being a hermione fanboy (which he admitted.)

Five was pretty cool, though. Well, except for the shitty parts <_<.

Die hard = win.

The only shitty parts I would have to say.....would be the sections where I know the Yaoi fangirls are going to go 'OOOOh that's a good rape section spot!'

Effing fangirls.
