Harry Potter/Shaman Kings

Hmm seem to be on a roll with challanges lately....

Anyway this is based off a old AA thread (Big surprise no?) I wrote trying a HP/aniem x-over. ONe of the options (another that i really liked was a spirtied Away/HP x-over) had the cast of Shaman Kings becoming Hogwarts 'exchange' students...

THe basic concept is the British ministry catch's words of the Shaman fights in Japan, and since the Japanese Ministry seems to be ignoring them (Seeing as theya ctually have common sense)Fudge decides to send in a auror team 'for the good of hte wizarding world'.

Naturally said Auror team gets their asses handed to them. I actually have a amusing scene in my head, with Yoh and friends (Possibly Ren, visiting or fighting and getting interuptted.) chasing the Aurors around the house, until one bursts into a bathroom and seeing a body there decides to grab a hostage...

In particular he grabs Anna.... who just finished her bath....and was nude..... oh and the aurors hand naturally in his haste to grab her lands on her chest...

cue seconds of Anna standing there head bowed, hair covering her eyes (Typical horror girl pose) as her hands start to twitch.....

Cut to outside of the house as we see Yoh, Ren, Rio, Morty abandoning ship through the door, windows, the WALL..... followed by

"BAKA HENTAI!!!" *maim spindle mutilate*

(incidnetally that auror did finally get turned over to teh British ministry, and Saint Mungo's said he's expected to make a full recovery physically, and mentally as well in a few decades, provided he's not exposed to any female under the age of 18....)

WHich of course means the second team of wizards to make contact has to be more diplomatic (Dumbledore?) And arrange a semester at Hogwarts to 'study this new form of wizadry' AKA Shamanism...

Not sure when in HP or SK to set this... could be post SK, or perhaps just prior ot the start of the Shaman Tournament (In which case Hao might get involved, albiet not to directly... after all this might eba chance for Yoh to grow stronger, and therefore Hao will eb stronger once he reabsorbs Yoh.... more along hte lines of sending occasional challanges YOh's way to make sure he isn't to rusty.)

Scenes I forsee:

There will be several Anna/Draco confrontations starting with something like:
*Scene of Draco bragging/boasting/threatening potter.*

Anna: hmph as if you had any idea as to what makes one great...

Draco: Do you KNOW who I am!!!???

Anna: yes a insignifcant blowhard not worth giving hte tiem of day to....

*turn and walk away*

Draco: Why you... I'll show you a blowhard....

Yoh: Did he just threaten Anna?

Manta: yup... dead man walking....

Tao Ren: heh... this might be worth five seconds of amusment....

-Anna VS Peeves (remeber she CAN easily capture ghosts.....I forsee Peeves becoming her servant just so he can be free in order to torment other students....)

-hmm Am I the only one who might find it amusing to have Rio and/or Jun being guest teachers on shamanism at Hogwarts? (For that matter how will the wizarding world react to Jun's 'bodyguard'?)

-If set in 5th year... I just get fun shivers imagining any Shaman crew/umbridge confrontations....

-If set 6th year, perhaps once he learns of it have Anna try to summon Sirus's spirit? (Perhaps the summoning fials hinitng Sirus might still be alive?)

As to which house the various kids get sent to?
here's a breakdown that i See in my mind:

Yoh- Griffydon or HUfflepuff...

Anna- whichever house Yoh goes to(You think the sorting hat would be brave enough to challange her???)

Manta- Probably Hufflepuff.... Gryffindor seems a long shot

Tao Ren- Slytherin definatly... Tao Ren/Draco confrontation would be amusing... Anyways Tao alway's struck me as ambitious..and besides he'd want to continue his (Friendly?) rivalry with Yoh.

Now onto some technical details

Wizardry vs Shamanism
I'm not going to say one is better than the other, merely different. Wizardy seems to have more variety than shamnism... but Shamnism seems ot have the advantage on endurance and resistence... IN a fight between the two.. a wizard would have to get tricky to win as a straight on power vs power match would probably go to the shaman who has greater endurance and who is more geared towards combat.

Unforgivables vs Shamans:
Imperio- All things considered I'd lean towards the idea that their contorl over their various spirits give them strenght of will to break the imperio (If not immediatly.... but eventualy in certian cases). Shamans who are fused with their spirits (I don't think I've seen Horo-horo do that he jsut puts his spirit into his board) should be able to throw off Imperio with ease... if only because they're spirit partner adds extra willpower to the fight against the spell.

A special note. I think Ren Tao (and possibly Jun) should be able to throw off Imperio with ease, no matter the situation. The reason is the way he was trained in Shamanism. Remember Ren Tao orignally belived that to be a proper Shaman you had to Surpress and establish yor will dominant over your spirit's. thats how he was trained, so I highly suspect his Uncle probaly had his training often include being possesed by Spirits that wish to control him and his thoughts, so he could better experience the battle of wills.

Crucio- Should work the same, except the average Shaman should be more likely to still be able to act under the curse than the average wizard. This goes back to my theory of Shamanism vs Wizardry. both are roughly equal but have strenghts in different areas. Shamanism is more physical endurance and power oriented... Wizardry's advantage lies in its versitility. As a resutl of being more endurance oriented, pain curse would be easier to ignore for a shaman.

Avada Kedvara- Oooh this one is a difficult one. I htink it works as normal except for Shamans fused with their spirits. In that case the first Kedvara would probaly jsut forcifully defuse the spirit from the Shaman (Rather painfully I suspect).... may make SPirit fusion impossible for a short time as well (Over soul into aitem however would still be possible)

Oh and against the Zombies that Jun likes to use, Killing curse should have no effect. After all they are already dead.

In regarding the first part of this challenge, where the ministry, in all their stupidity, tries to send in aurors on the shamans. It sounds sort of similar to a parody Harry Potter/Yu-Gi-Oh! crossover fic I've read a while ago. It takes the cliched foreign-magical-people-goes-to-Hogwarts idea and explores what happens when said people don't want to go and the wizards are too stupid to take no for an answer. It is a most excellent crack fic indeed. Too bad I can't seem to find it again...

I've read a similar story myself. But it was a Ranma x Harry Potter crossover.
