Ok this is probably more fever induced than anything and I know it's not enough to even become an idea for the ideas section so I put it here instead. What if, at some point prior to Episode III Anakin was chosen to become the Green Lantern for his sector? After all, Abin Sur chose Hal Jordan as his successor because he was a "man without fear," which translated more to being suicidally reckless, but whatever. If someone as unstable as Jordan ended up being could get a ring so could Anakin.

Thoughts on the madness this would bring?

The only probelm really is... well Anakin is not based in a sector. Would he become the Green Lantern of the sector that Corruscant is in... or would he be a free agent. Remember if this is prior to Episode 3 then Anakin is running around the galaxy as the Jedi Poster Boy during the clone war. He is not really based in any one sector longer than a small campain or raid.

Giving him a ring would be highly amusing to watch the fireworks.

Unleashing a Lantern on the galaxy this way has another problem, the way the Jedi Code was used at that point would make it difficult to be both a Jedi and a Green lantern

I know the logistics of this would be a nightmare, especially as the home sector for Anakin should be Tatooine, but the thought of him trying to hide that he's a GL is highly amusing to me. Especially if you take it all the way to the confrontation scene in Palpatine's office only for Anakin to respond to Palpatine's overtures by reciting the Oath and taking him into custody.

Well that and the possibility for a Silver-Age Star Sapphire!Padme.
