Eh, I got used to the style rather quickly and I'm not really going to stop reading because it hurts my sensibilities on how things should or should not be formatted. At it's core it's a good novel and I can enjoy it despite any flaws because of that. The characters are all endearing in one way or another and I don't feel that the side-characters get ignored or shoved to the side or made less important even if the Main Character is as he is, they all contribute something

I think you're right about the reasons for the sentence split, though I half-suspect it's more a light novel thing than a Japanese thing.? Light novels are directed at a younger audience, which might not be able to differentiate between spoken and descriptive text.? I forget how much punctuation existed in the language prior to Westernization.

I prefer the full English style translation myself, being an English lit. and language major.? It's more reader friendly, and jagged edges caused by unnecessary stops ejects me from a story almost as fast as misspellings.
That's just your English lit. induced closed mindedness talking.

Honestly I don't really see anything inherently wrong with splitting the two like that.

It's a quirk, sure, but meh. I've read stranger formats...of English.

Next month. Also, It's been fourteen volumes, five or so months in universe and yet Issei has yet to learn to fly with his devil wings...Can I just say that's weirder than a leper judging a beauty contest.

Robin Williams called, he wants his joke back. :p

Do you think we have enough guys here to make a productive DxD fanfic thread or should we just keep it here?

Right, fanfic ideas go here then.

So how exactly do devils grant wishes? I seem to remember seeing something in the manga about Koneko and Asia doing things manually rather than casting a spell or what have you (i.e. dude x wishes for money, "Right, time to go knock over a bank"/"Time to raid the Gremory family vaults"/etc) but I don't remember that in the anime or the LNs so I'm leery as to its canonicity.

Wrong, the human's worth and the devil's power are both measured, its a double combo, so devils with almost no real 'devil' power end up doing jobs manually and the reason they do it mostly manually as well is because it also reduces cost in terms of human life span I think

I couldn't tell you either. Rias's Peerage would do jobs that fit there personality to a t. Rias got jobs that dealt with curse removal; Akeno got jobs that dealt with high society as a ear to listen or a tea drinking buddy; Koneko got the usual "little sister" type requests such as playing cards or cosplay photo shoots; Kiba had to play butler; Asia usually worked with Koneko; Gaspar usually got internet requests from other hikikomori; Xenovia got physical labor type requests; Rossewiesse's requests became a sort of consultation for housewives in how to manage finances with out stressing out about it and teaching them how to get the best deals and tricks to win those deadly battles; poor Issei always got the freaks.

Okay I just finished reading volume 16 and I have to say Vali's grandfather is Bullshit. There's a limit to how OP you can make a character, and he's way past the threshold. Lilith is kinda adorable though.

And Gasper is now Alucard.

"And lo, the Oppai did speak to the Chosen One. They welcomed him into their presence and spoke no lies to him. And in time, the Oppai did reveal unto him the genuine Chichigami as they lead him to heal the heart of one of his beloved harem." - Oppai 12: 18
