A number of the girls in Negima have distinctive styles of speaking, and for the most part, I've been able to identify them all pretty clearly.
Konoka speaks Kansai-go, for the most part, using the Kansai dialect for her words. Ku Fei ends all of her sentences with "aru" (which is the infinitive form of the inanimate "to be," though it's written in Katakana, so I'm not sure if that's what she means). Kaede uses the archaic "de gozaru" to end her sentences, much like Kenshin. Even Ayaka speaks in an excessively formal style, presumably to emphasize her high breeding.
But for the life of me, I think there's also something with how Satsuki speaks, and I'm not sure what it is.
In the manga, her words are almost never written in a speech balloon, which seems to be a visual clue. Also, after she speaks to Negi for the first time (volume 9), Chamo remarks "Cute huh? The way she speaks."
I've listed to the Shusseki Bango no Uta (Seat Number Song) from the soundtrack, where each girl sings their seat number, name, and a brief description of themselves, and Satsuki's speaking style doesn't seem to contain any grammatical oddities, though her voice has a weird lilting quality to it.
Is there something special about how she speaks, or am I driving myself crazy for nothing?
