Akamatsuverse How does Satsuki speak?

A number of the girls in Negima have distinctive styles of speaking, and for the most part, I've been able to identify them all pretty clearly.

Konoka speaks Kansai-go, for the most part, using the Kansai dialect for her words. Ku Fei ends all of her sentences with "aru" (which is the infinitive form of the inanimate "to be," though it's written in Katakana, so I'm not sure if that's what she means). Kaede uses the archaic "de gozaru" to end her sentences, much like Kenshin. Even Ayaka speaks in an excessively formal style, presumably to emphasize her high breeding.

But for the life of me, I think there's also something with how Satsuki speaks, and I'm not sure what it is.

In the manga, her words are almost never written in a speech balloon, which seems to be a visual clue. Also, after she speaks to Negi for the first time (volume 9), Chamo remarks "Cute huh? The way she speaks."

I've listed to the Shusseki Bango no Uta (Seat Number Song) from the soundtrack, where each girl sings their seat number, name, and a brief description of themselves, and Satsuki's speaking style doesn't seem to contain any grammatical oddities, though her voice has a weird lilting quality to it.

Is there something special about how she speaks, or am I driving myself crazy for nothing?

Something similar happens in Excel Saga, where the fat guy with glasses and mouth-line almost never speaks in balloons.

I think it's used to relay an extremely low voice tone, almost liek a whisper.

Yeah, but in Excel it was more of a sight-gag, since he was actually literally not speaking, with the words just appearing around him (as shown in the anime).

Satsuki's is slightly less literal. While her voice is somewhat husky, it's not low per se. The notations about her speech are either in reference to her voice having an odd quality to it, or that she uses an odd sentence structure, or both. I'm just banging my head against the wall trying to figure out what, exactly, the answer is.

Well, the practice of characters speaking outside of the bubble is often used to indicate either story narration, or background comments.
I'm pretty sure it means that Satsuki's voice has a certain unearthly quality to it, and that she seems almost like part of the background: what she says is taken as a given.
Fitting, given how she's pretty wise for her age.

IIRC (and it could be blamed on one's missinterpretation) Statsuki speaks in a very very low voice almost to the point where her body language is necesarilly VERY good.

I believe the cute part is that the impact of such a soft voice and her body language on both the receiver of the conversation, although in the manga she thends to end sentences with little heart shapes.

That and she seems to exude an aura of cutenes even people with violent tendencies are weak against... good technique, making people feel warm and fuzzy and disarm their previous aggressive state.

She has a pretty face even tho comared to her more shapely and/or uber cute (loliriffic) classmates. But her personality does seem to be more mature and focused on her goals, possibly she's one of the most realistic characters.

"Most realistic" indeed. She's the first chubby female I've seen Akamatsu draw, and it's appropriate for her - she works cooking nikuman.

As my Grandma always said, "Never trust a skinny cook."
