Harry Potter HP and The Broken Wand

I would like to know what do you think about this idea:

A Broken Wand

Harry Potter wants to comeback to his first day in Hogwarts and prevent the death of his friends.
Hermione Granger wants to comeback to her first day in Hogwarts and prevent the death of her friends.
Ronald Weasley wants to comeback to his first day in Hogwarts and prevent the death of his friends.

They succeed. The only thing is.

They are from very different Timelines, Harry is from the original one, Ron is from a reality where his family are all dead and Longbottom was the Hero that in the end slayed Voldemort in the end but his beloved Hermione dies in the Final Battle. Hermione wants to prevent to death of her beloved Cedric, in her timeline, harry dies in the Resurrection ritual, Ron was her friend but they drift apart after Ffth year and Snape was the one who kills Voldemort in her world.

This could lead to a lot of problems and misunderstanding but they would ultimately unite to defeat their enemies of their world.

But there is a final twist.

They are not exactly in their world anymore, a LOT of things have changed, Magic itself is different, wizards still live in secrecy but it's getting very difficult for them to remain like that, prejudice exist but in a very different way . Darks cults and new Dark lords are showing every year but of course, Heroes also have come forward to stop them, like Gilderoy Lockhart a famous Monster and Vampire Hunter, in his face there are a lot of scars that are proof of his endless battles. Severus Snape, a Hogwart's profesor that has teached defense against the Darks Arts for 10 years and has captured or killed several of the most feared Dark wizards of the world when the school is closed, Lucius Marlfoy ' HERO OF THE WIZARDLY WORLD' that single handily defeated a Dark cult just before they summoned a Dark God to the world using the lifes of several babies, and Minerva Mcnogall, the minister of Magic that is leading Britain in this dark times.

And don't forget Albus Dumbledore the... Alchemy profesor in Hogwarst? Who is this Headmaster calles Madame Totenkinder? and who is this Miss Hardbroom and why is she teaching the Potions class?

Well, no matter, I'm sure that those three would succed hanks to their experience and power, except... the magic here has different rules and they have to re-learn them if they want to survive their year.

Also an incident in New York where Muggles managed to slay an Elder God has shaken the world of everybody.
.........

Well, what do you think?

I think it's an interesting premise. The twist with the different rules of magic would keep them from being OP from the start. I like the idea of completely mixing up the history of this new universe - the cults, the Dark Lords, etc.

But what got me was Headmistress Totenkinder. Is this the same Totenkinder of Fables fame, or just a 'names the same' kind of deal? If it's the first, I pity anyone who tries to pull the kind of shit in Hogwarts in canon.

All I can think is that it would be a headache to write. Three time-travelers (at least) from separate timelines, going back to what they all perceive as a dimension different from their own?

Yeah, that sounds like a recipe for the author giving up out of frustration.

Honestly, it just sounds like a horrific mismash of miscommunication and bullshit. And those are the worst kinds of stories, bar none.

Bar none? What about horrific mishmashes of bashing, Boring Invincible Hero and bullshit? (Edit: and a horrible childhood taken up to eleven, with 'thrashings' and weekly broken bones and such?)

Those are still better, because those are at least telling a story. This? This is 'let me make up whatever the fuck I like to make this chapter's fuckery work. Ignore all sense, characterization, world building, and motivations, just cram it down the reader's throat!"

No.

I came into this thread expecting a gagfic about erectile dysfunction

but okay

well the obvious solution is to make it so that Voldemort is also a Looper, so you can still have the same escalating stakes

Alternately the Looper version of Voldemort is from the Mirror Universe where he's a good guy, so you just short-circuit that whole plot; and then the story is a low-stakes comedy of misunderstandings where everybody's working against each other as they try to achieve their Best End, but, like, they're working against each other because of love polygons, not because it's a murder contest?

I reaally like all your ideas, it made think in refine m idea a little

I was thinking in using the scene of the movie where Harry break the Elder Wand as inspiration, after all, this is the ELDER WAND a very powerful wand and as we know, the wands have a mind of their own, if you destroy a very ancient a magical artifact with out taking precautions you will be sorry, Harry, Ron, and Hermione, all of them break the wands in their own timelines and the wands decides to curse this heroes in a very special way, transporting the trio to a timeline where they are no longer the heroes of the story, making them the Colin Creevey of the story, they are there but they are not very important to the plot nor they are destined for something great, of course with their personalities, they would want to help but the could made thing more dificult for the true heroes of this timeline.
