Harry Potter Hp influence in anime

Maybe the 10 seconds of thought about this was a waste of time, but...

It seems to me that more than a few animes seem to have the base of magical studies in England. Fate/Stay Night and Negima both had the schools for magical study in England, something that I don't remember in other anime before Harry Potter came out.

Did any series before HP was put out have magical studies based in Britain? Or is this a more recent phenomenon?

If you want to count it, Fate/Stay Night has a lot of heroes from the area and around it :)

It might be an influence from the HP series, but there's another possibilty. Supposedly Japan sorta 'looks up' to Britain, as another island nation of prestige and power (as well as global influence as at the time Japan entered the world stage Britain had control of large chunks of the world) As such, it's not too surprising that there'd be good stuff from Britain showcased in anime/manga.

Maburaho has the protagonist, a relatively ordinary chap named Kazuki, attending a magic school even though he's rather limited in his magical abilities. Of course, he is revealed to have a special destiny (that his children will be extraordinarily powerful) and he subsequently becomes something of a celebrity in the school and the focus of quite a bit of female attention. He even dies and comes back to life (although that was well before HPatDH).

There's nothing english about it though, but in other respects there may be at least a little influence.
