Okay. I tried reading Angel of Light, but that story is so full of horrible characterisation, stupid fanon clichÚs, and plot holes big enough to drive a death star through, that I had to give up on it after two chapters.
The MAGI register a pattern blue reading within Tokyo-3, and Ritsuko hits the alarm. Visual sensor reveal this "Angel" to be a 14-year-old Ranma Saotome. Gendo thinks it's a false alarm, but then Ranma gets splashed by cold water and turns into a girl. Gendo changes his mind and has security apprehend Ranma.
After Ranma's been picked up, Ritsuko checks him with every available sensor at NERV HQ, and they all tell her he's an Angel. They question him, and Ranma tells them that, despite looking 14, he's actually 32, he has a curse that changes his gender, and that he lost his whole family after Second Impact.
What does Gendo do? Does he tell security to apprehend Ranma, lock him in a cell and throw away the key? Does he arrange for Ranma to be murdered quietly and without much fanfare and for his body to be disposed of?
Of course not. Gendo decides to make Ranma an Eva pilot.
After all, every piece of information they have tells them Ranma's an Angel, he changes gender with cold and warm water, and his explanation for that is so fantastic nobody would believe it. At best, Ranma's a serious security risk. At worst, he's going to fuck their shit up and end the world. It makes perfect sense for Gendo to give him Unit01!
Not.
That is so incredibly stupid, I can't suspend my disbelief enough to buy that. I'd have to be high on Acid to not find that an offence to my, the reader's, intellect.
The following chapter reveals that weebee has never bothered to take a look at the Ranma source material and takes all his info and his characterisation straight from other, bad fanfics.
Instead of being an absolute neat freak, who can't stand any mess at all and who feels a compulsive need to actually clean up messes, even if they're other people's messes, Ranma is revealed to be something of a slob.
We are told that, for the last 16 years, Ranma has tried to overcome his fears of cats and has reached the point where he can, FINALLY!, say the word 'cat' without stuttering like an idiot. Compared to canon, his "progress" is actually two steps backwards. <_<
And, of course, Ranma is an idiot who sleeps in class. He's still cursed, even after 16 years, during which he could have easily gone to China to take a dip in the right spring or called the guide and have him send a cask, yet he grumbles about his curse like he did in Nerima. It makes no sense at all, but weebee apparently is a firm believer in the "I will NEVER cure Ranma's curse, even if it results in Ranma being out of character and means my story will suffer from huge plot holes" policy.
The horrible characterisation and the whole nonsensical Ranma still being cursed thing is really just icing on the cake, though. The story dies a horrible death right in the first chapter, when Gendo turns off his brain and makes Ranma an Eva pilot.
It's just bad.
