I think the best on the list was the 10th, with the parallels between Ichigo and Isshin and their women. That's a cool connection I had not made.

It's kinda sad so many of these connections feel so obtuse- Almost like Kubo was really trying to foreshadow a lot of stuff or make clear connections between events, but he just didn't do a good job of it.
I think it's because we're putting a round peg into a sort-of-but-not-quite-round hole. The Ichigo/Rukia comparisons were artificially generated with Aizen manipulating things from beginning to end, while Isshin/Masaki was a freak accident that somehow managed to work out despite the odds against them. In short, the Ichigo/Rukia scenes didn't have any sort of choice, while Isshin/Masaki scenes did have choices. Hence, the former doesn't feel like it's truly relatable to the latter as it's a forced upon creation that was meant to fulfill a dark purpose and ultimately doesn't mean anything since there was never a true followup of what the first generation had.
I forget; how much did Aizen engineer? I thought that Aizen's involvement only started from the point he sent a Menos Grande since he only discovered that Rukia had the Hogyoku sometime after she was missing. He didn't send Rukia or make her lose her power, right? That's the SS arc explanation anyway, I don't remember whether he changed that in the Arrancar arc.
In fake karakura, he said to Ichigo that he manipulated events to have him meeting Rukia, fighting not only the Menos but Renji, Byakuya, Kenpachi, Grimmjaw and Ulquiorra because Ichigo was his main experiment subject. He points the strange and unnatural fact that between Masaki's death and his meeting with Rukia, Ichigo was never attacked once by a hollow and that in fact, Aizen knew his existence since his birth because he's special, the offsoring of a shinigami and a ... Isshin arrives saying "You've said enough, Aizen".

So I found the chapter in question...

I must have erased most of that from my memory. Other than taking advantage of Ishida's challenge to send a Menos and subsequently get Rukia noticed by the observing Onmitsukido, most of that sounds like Aizen taking credit for things that simply worked out in his favour.

I forgot how much that guy annoys me.

Yeah, both the manipulations of the SS arc and indeed the more recent stuff with Ichigo's mom, retcons aside with the stupid hollow thing, were actually far more sensible and actually makes Aizen look smart and opportunistic, changing his plans on the fly when unexpected factors, like Ichigo's mom distracting and killing the hollow or Ichigo's group ACTUALLY managing to save Rukia from execution happen.

He didn't plan for those things, hell half the time he doesn't even expect them and had no way to see them coming. However his plans were fluid enough and he was willing enough to change them and react as needed to keep things moving along towards his goal. That's the sign of an intelligent, and incredibly dangerous villain and how you truly execute a Xanatos Gambit, particularly long term.

NOT the arrancar arc bullshit where 'everything dance to the palm of my hand', and things only fall apart at the end because you want them to. THAT Aizen is a villian sue of epic proportions and deserves all the scorn the entirety of the arrancar arc garnered for its bullshit. It's fortunate in fact that there's a way to differentiate these two Aizens. Glasses Aizen is the smart, calm and intelligent one. No glasses is the bullshit sue who manipulates the entire plot because he can and doesn't even really lose without it being all according to plan. Separate those two characters and things start making a lot more sense.

Clearly the GLASSES were the true man behind the man and the source of his clever plans. :snigger:

Similar to how Clark is a better character than Super sue man.

To be frank, Bleach is the one series where I'm hoping there WON'T be a romantic subplot. Largely because the Arrancar superarc pretty much wrecked the shit out of the story and killed most everything there was to Bleach. The Fullbring arc could have repaired the damage, but then Tite just nixes the one character that might have been able to do something with that boat after a whole lot of floundering in the time after Ichigo got restored to normal by Rukia.
Which character?
Riruka. If there was ever a chance to play with romance again without it being an asspull, she would have been the one to make something happen in that regard, as most everyone else is either too dense, too distant, or too chickenshit to step up to the plate. Unfortunately, not much gets explored in that department due to Tsukishima (and Ginjo), and once everything is resolved and the dust settles, she's out like a thief in the night with nary a word.

Unless she locked herself inside of someone's heart again.

Second one is apparently Nanao and Rangiku combined.

Don't recall seeing this before, so...

So looks like that Boobies doujin thing is splitting the vizard's from their hollows.

Glad this is now a thing. :snigger:

Huh, that's a bit nifty. I'd have gone with more than two, or one and a half nonhumans but it's the thought that counts.

I'm wondering where Rukia's race came from? Seems incompatible with her ice-based zanpakuto powers.

Actually arguably works better with the Temperature manipulation bent on it now, as she goes from standard body temp to absolute zero and everywhere between. Hard to say if it was made before or after that reveal though, I presume the real reason is just because blue snake = sort of ice like or some other sillyness. Basically a Hyorinmaru without the limbs or wings I guess, only Rukia instead.

Would make more sense if a few more of them were something exotic too though, don't think a Lamia is even a standard race for that sort of thing, though it's certainly more interesting than freaking elves at least.

Edit: Did a quick check for the summary of the artwork where I got it from. Apparently the concept itself is from a fic actually, an IchiRuki thingy that is literally only in Russian.

I'm serious: http://yuria-chu.deviantart.com/art/Never-changing-457448037 http://ficbook.net/readfic/1343126

As such I can't tell you why specifically she's a Lamia since I can't read tundra runes but I assume the general thought process was like the above or something. Again, I applaud it at least, certainly better than the bog standard species for a fantasy thing, though I've always felt dwarves needed more love too. Really it's just the elves that I think are overplayed. :snigger:

Naw, Orihime looks great, because she has a giant mexican boy standing behind her. That always makes an outfit look better.

That'd be as ineffectual a scythe as Nnoitra's. Could still be used as a spear though.

....it DOES look cool.
