Bleach Incarnated Bleach

I was wondering if anyone knew about this?

Nick Simmons blatantly traced Bleach and sold it as Incarnate. Kubo is aware of this fact. There are several examples of it on that page. Several side by side shots as well as overlays.

Looks like the company halted publishing and sales. Linky. The second section there is about it.

I think that this particular subject took about three pages from the "manga thoughts" topic.

With your usual righteous arguing and Raine being a muppet.

Most of those arn't traces just realy freaken similar, and probly copied, but than most manga usaly have panel that have poses that can be seen as rip offs of other manga.

It's most telling, for me, that Kubo seems to have laughed it off. "Wut, Gene Simmons' kid draws manga? Cool story!"

The Kenpachi art was obvious plagiarism, yeah, but I'm inclined to think it's stupidity and lack of foresight on Simmons' part, as anyone who's read Bleach is slapped in the face by the similarities. Deliberate plagiarism tends to be done with more obfuscation.

Well, I suppose in a country where dojins are actually encouraged and sold for profit, yeah, it wouldn't be a big deal to him, whereas stateside, you can expect lawyers to parachute in with "cease and desist" orders long as your arm.

And yet Simmons claims that it was an homage to Bleach and other mangas. Also, Bleach came out in August 2001 and Incarnate came out in August 2009.

though there is actually nothing there that constitues a strong case of plagarism.

Blantantly ripping off character designs? Yes. But not to the point of it being plagarism.

Legally he's off the hook so to speak. In the eyes of the public opinion court? He's screwed.
