Iron Fic 3-2: Too Late

ôDo it? Dan, I'm not a Republic Serial villain. Do you seriously think I'd explain my master-stroke if there remained the slightest chance of you affecting its outcome? I did it thirty-five minutes ago.ö
--Ozymandias, Watchmen

Whoops, turns out taking that sidequest wasn't such as good idea after all and neither was pausing to confess your romantic feelings for the girl you met last week in the final dungeon. People make decisions independent of you, so taking too long to make up your mind can lead to catastrophe. ôBecause trafficö is not an excuse, you're expected to be on time to your appointments and job. Remember, there is no pause button in real life.

Your challenge, and you must accept it, is to write a story about tardiness. Whether intentional, accidental, or because the antagonist just worked faster, your character(s) were just too late off the starting line, and nothing but tragedy results.

Or not; it's your choice.

Gentlemen, the challenge is made!

Double posting to make this absolutely clear: the fact that the prompt is "Too Late" does not mean that you are entitled to finish a hour late for "thematic appropriateness". Thank you theM for pointing this out to me.

Sweet, two entries already, and Cornuthaum on the way. Looks like Iron Fic 3 is picking up.

Note: I will withhold even reading them until the contest is over, so authors may feel free to go back over them and correct any errors they see if need be.

Countering Wata's ideal of Too late is the great judge Lightwave and his fantastic judging abilities. Early as possible is the name of the game. His judgments are swift but fair.

Look upon my judging and despair.

I call shenanigans!

Any fic where Lulu wins should be disqualified, on the basis that it's lulu winning. :p

Why? Even in canon he won that battle. Sure one of the deaths that he thought didn't matter really worked against him in season two, but that was about it.
