Iron Fic 4-5: Whodunnit?
Another dark night in a city that knows how to keep its secrets. Suddenly, footsteps, an alarm raised. A crime committed and the perp escaped. But not for long, because you catch criminals for a living.
*piano solo*
Crime dramas are stories about solving crimes through investigation, interrogation, logic and more than a little luck. Your challenge this week is to write a small mystery, a "Whodunnit". Some crime has been committed and your character is part of the investigation. You might completely fuse the source material with a police procedural or noir setting, or perhaps the characters are only evoking those tropes in their home setting.
Your character might be heading the investigation, be long-suffering assistant, be a bystander roped into helping or the criminal mastermind undermining the case. The crime itself could be a serious one, or the case of a stolen pudding. How serious you want to be is up to you.
Keywords this time are "noir" and "mystery". The challenge is made!
