Is there a way to search one specific thread

for posts by one specific member?

I've posted 92 times over the 74 pages of the HP Fanfic Search thread. Some times, fics I've requested before come up again, a while later, and I don't want to keep making the same request over and over.

I mean, yeah I could go into my post history, but who knows how long that will take for people with thousands of posts.

Is this something that is implementable or should we just be glad we actually have a working search nowadays? :p

You do realize that would not help you right?

Because finding your posts is not really going to get you your links. it is the *responses* to those posts that would have the links, not your posts asking for them.

I cannot think of a way to know a post is actually responding to yours with a link you wanted, since the forum is so free form.

EDIT:
You *can* fudge what you asked for though using the existing search...

Type in "looking" or "search" for the keyword
Set to search entire post
set to Harry Potter HP Talk
Type in ArchfiendRai for user name
Click Show results as post

If used "looking", repeat with "search", or some ther common word you used in your requests.

But again, you are left with the original issue in that these get your searches, but not the reponses.

Oh I know that. What I meant was I could find the original request and then just go forward until I found the responses. I vaguely remember which ones actually got responses.

You can sort your posts by thread, so they would be all together, which would at least help, I think.

In addition to mentioning your username, there is another really cheesy tactic you could try. Under search options there is a dropdown list with these options,

Find threads with at least/Find threads with at most ??? replies.

In this specific case, you could try searching for threads with at least 2940 replies. Gave me about 6 pages worth of posts from you on that thread.

6 pages of posts from *me* on a *harry Potter* thread. That search is broke.... I doubt I made more than about 8 posts in the entire HP section ever.

EDIT: I just checked... 7

Sorry. Didn't notice who I was quoting. I meant the OP. Or ArchfiendRai in this case.

Searching for username "PCHeintz72" in HP threads with at least 2000 posts ... I get nothing.

Wow. Never realized that you didn't follow HP fanfiction.

I assumed that was the case.

I actually do not follow many of the larger anime/manga fandoms out there... Ranma to this day the largest fandom I follow...

Lets see, a quick check of what I follow (my top over years and my top in last year) vs. FF.NET # stories rank

184th - Black Lagoon
412th - El Hazard
131st - Full Metal Panic
72nd - Love Hina
35th - Neon Genesis Evangelion
146th - Oh My Goddess
26th - Ranma
61st - Tenchi Muyo
81st - The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (only specific stories/authors interest me)
153rd - Toaru Majutsu no Index
90th - Type Moon
149th - Zero no Tsukaima

I also follow some Star Trek and Mass Effect fan fiction (like The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, only specific stories/authors interest me).

I read other stuff of course... those are only the larger fandoms.
