Harry finds out that after almost 20 years, a new member of his mothers family has been found...

Actually, he is Lily's estranged Uncle...

Harry also has an older 2nd cousin...

Harry is told that Dumbledore can use them for the Blood Wards in place of Petunia...

This is the good news...the bad news is that Lily's uncle changed his name...

His new name is...

DR. EVIL!!

MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! *cough* *cough*

Umm..while this story could be funny as hell, it has a couple significant problems just in the intro.

First, Dumbledore would be several years dead by this point.

And second, the wards would have already collapsed, as they will the moment Harry turns 17.

maybe 12-15 years is 'almost 20 years'

*palms forehead*

It's been 20 years since they have been able to FIND Harry's uncle. Not since Harry was born.

I never stated when Dr. Evil went into hibernation. And being that he was in space, no-one in the magical world would be able to find him.

I was thinking that this was after second or third year at Hogwarts.

That idea is sick and twisted and you must do it :hail:

Just one question: would Harry start to emulate old Dr. Evil, or his arch-rival? The image of Harry acting as either and the reactions of the likes of Romilda Vane is priceless.

And why not both? He's going to be a boy with a very serious case of MPD... :snigger:

This doesn't mesh. Lily was Muggle-born. Dumbledore's pretty much the only one who would be searching for her family, and only once he has a legitimate reason, namely for baby Harry's protection, and once he'd found Petunia, I doubt he'd search more, considering the much larger problem of Lord Voldemort.

Beyond that, Lily and James didn't even *live* 20 years after they started Hogwarts. More like 12 or 13. They were murdered when they were no more than about 23 years old.

I was playing a little fast and loose with the timeline for Austin Powers.

Dr. Evil disappearing off the planet (in the "Big Boy") doesn't relate to Lily being in school or not. Hell, Lily and Petunia might not even know of their estranged uncle. The idea was that Harry finds out about his estranged uncle when he is in Hogwart's.

For Dumbledore to be able to FIND Dr. Evil might not be possible through magical means due to the fact that he is off the planet. Hell, what mundane means that Dumbledore might have available might be blocked by someone else. Dr. Evil's location isn't something that would be posted in the telephone directory.

I was going for a Dumbledore that wasn't a complete manipulative bastard like what seems to be popular. He just had no other option than to use Petunia.

This is Austin Powers were talking about, why couldnt Dr. Evil be in the directory? It would be just the sort of idiotic thing that would happen in the Austin Powers verse.

Scott: You do realize that youre listed in the phonebook?

Dr. Evil: Shh!

Scott: Bu-

Dr. Evil: Zip it!
