Staff member of my local anime club. We're looking for a horror movie for halloween as well as some other good movies in general. Any Recs?

Any other specifics? Like animation or live-action? Horror what? Rating?

Does it have to be japanese? Cuz I've got a korean movie that horrified me even though others would call it "deep", "action", or "drama".

EDIT: Ahh what the hell, it was a manga to begin with any way. Google up a movie called, Oldboy. Released in 2003.

Heres a link to it's IMDB page and a little blurb from the page.

Oldboy

IMDB Plot Overview said:
An average man is kidnapped and imprisoned in a shabby cell for 15 years without explanation. He then is released, equipped with money, a cellphone and expensive clothes. As he strives to explain his imprisonment and get his revenge, he soon finds out that not only his kidnapper has still plans for him, but that those plans will serve as the even worse finale to 15 years of imprisonment.

I'd nominate Ugetsu monogatari as the greatest of the great Japanese horror films.

Kaidan is another superb example.

For general recs, recent favourites included Swing Girls, Survive Style 5+, Postman Blues, Rajio no Jikan and Summer Time Machine Blues.

Edit:

@Bakaneko: if you liked Oldboy, check out Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance and Sympathy for Lady Vengeance, the first and third in the trilogy. (They're not connected, but share similar themes.)

And speaking of horror, the director did one of the three segments in Three... Extremes, which does have a Japanese connection...

Thanks guys, honestly its any asian country. And we're kinda of unsure in general, though we use the school to show it so I'd guess not to bloody.

For a reference we've watched Battle Royale 2 or 3 times in the last 3 years.

Edit: The last 3 horrors don't seem to scary either?
