Sixsense is launching a kickstarter for some new hardware on Sept 12th.

It's a controller similar to the Hydra from the look of it, but it uses up to five wireless motion tracking modules for full position and orientation tracking of the entire body. Seems like a cool idea and it's intended to work either on it's own or in tandem with the Oculus Rift VR goggles and Virtuix Omni multi-directional gaming treadmill. It can also be used with just the two controllers with two of the tracking modules inside of them or in 'other configurations' using any combination of the tracking modules and controllers well.
I'm very interested in this. I've got a dev kit version Oculus Rift already [I'm also planning on getting the higher resolution retail version as well], and I've considered getting a Virtuix Omni at some point in the future.
It's also backwards compatible with software that is compatible with the Hydra already and will feature a keymapping program similar to what Sixsense has already released for that controller as well.
The Hydra is already the best and most accurate motion controller I've ever used. It's developed by the same company responsible for the software drivers for the PS Move system. This is the first hardware they've produced under their own name, Razer helped develop the Hydra and Sony provided the hardware for the PS Move.
This thing looks pretty sweet and I'm hoping they meet their goals. I could really get into using these with my Oculus. The Hydra is very nice once you get it tweaked and configured, but it's wired and has a limited range. The Oculus along with the Virtuix Omni and a set of these all working together in games that are designed to take advantage of the tech would be epic, even if it's only officially supported by a couple of games. Plus they can all be keymapped as well to allow for limited use even in games that don't officially support them.
I like the way this looks so far, and I'll definitely be helping out at least a little with the kickstarter once it launches.
