Yes fellow TFF acolytes, I will be indulging myself in a Uwe Boll marathon.

I want to know why moviegoers call him the king of shit movies so to help in my research, I will be watching the following movies by Uwe Boll:

Alone in the Dark
In The Name of The King: A Dungeon Siege Tale
Postal
Blood Rayne
Blood Rayne 2

Wish me luck for my sanity.

DON'T DO IT!

Your perception of quality will die long before you lose your sanity, after that you might actually start to like his films.

I just finished Alone in The Dark.

I'm starting to believe the hype that he is a craptacular director.

The story was all over the place and I didn't really connect with it.

By the way, did you know that he is making a Far Cry movie?

While I have not had the dubious pleasure of watching those movies that you listed, I feel that you have overlooked one of Boll's movies that encompasses every negative thing that a critic has to say about him:

House of the Dead

It is an epic shit-fest and painful to sit through. I recommend it since you are already subjecting yourself to torture.

For a while there was a petition to ban him from making movies, supposedly there was a statement that if there was over a certain number he'd quit.

I signed it a while back

He is proof that a director can get work based on negative hype. Anyone remotely familiar with game-based movies know his name and loathe him. Yet people still continue to pay him to make such movies :huh.:

It's Inconceivable.

I've heard that Dungeon Siege was actually one of his better movies, despite the stupid title.

Of course, that's like saying a dried piece of feces doesn't smell as bad as fresh diarrhea.

Compared to the films that I've seen though, Doom looks brilliant and complete on-topic. <_< Considering the only five minute or so part of Doom I liked was the FPS scene near the end, that says something REALLY bad about Uwe Boll.

Seriously, someone get him away from producers.

I just know he's managed to gather a supply of cocaine, booze and whores that tempt plenty of producers into backing him.

Well, if a low budget, made-for-TV-quality, Power Rangers (American version, that is)-esque costuming and design cold be considered an improvement...

The biggest problem with Boll is the fact that he just doesn't accept criticism. People have been harking at him for years now over how mediocre his whole filming process is and how incompetent he is as a director, and his response is a German equivalent of 'Fuck you, go have sex vith a donkey Michael Bay'. And yes, that would probably account to what he would say, since a lot of his recent comments have been towards Michael Bay for some bizarre reason.

He thinks he's a misunderstood, maverick director that doesn't get credit or audience because of Hollywood and all their films, but unless incoherent plots, uneven movie pacing, and horrendous scripts that a group of us here could write better are supposed to be the new order of the day for films, he's an idiot with no qualifications to even touch a god damn camera.

I mean, there's no limit to his level of incompetency. For Alone in the Dark, Boll had rejected an early script because he had wanted more guns and action and -ugh- a sex scene, as opposed to a script that stuck to the source material and -surprise, surprise!- actually made sense.

For Bloodrayne, he had actually hired Romanian hookers to play the roles of...prostitutes...in the movie to save money. Well, gee, that was a brilliant idea Uwe. Now do you want to hear an even better one? Just suck it up and make a decent movie for a change, so that for a $25 million budget, you don't get only $2 million in return.

And then there was Postal and his boxing match. That, alone, already boggles my mind. Boll's been having critics tell him what's wrong with his movies for ages now. They've been hammering it in, and you think he'd finally figure it out?

No, but he hosts a boxing match to 'silence' his critics.

Ah gee, way to prove how much of a brilliant directorial genius you really are...

And about his boxing stunt, let's not forget how he chickened out from fighting Seanbaby when he learned the writer trained in jujutsu and Muay Thai.

Or in a more recent case how, in his claim of proving who's the better director (?), he wanted to challenge Michael Bay to a boxing match in Las Vegas.

So, is boxing now related to how good ones directing ability is? If so, we should probably give Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson an Oscar already.

I can keep going, but I've made my point.

We all hate Uwe Boll, myself included. I will dance the Haruhi dance when he decides to never make a movie ever again.

I've read that one of the reasons that he keeps getting money to make movies is that, due to a loophole in German tax laws, his investors make money for every craptacular bomb he makes.

Like I said before, he's probably in an asylum. We should send flowers.

I do wonder which movie broke him though.

That list of movies remind me of Ibiki's choice of torture in Ike's 'The Imprint'....

The poor, poor, damned and cursed fool.

Boll's films can be compaired with some of the worst Cursed Tomes of Damned Knowlege ? of Lovecraftian fame.

Do not even pray for his soul. For he is doomed beyond mortal comprehension.

I tried to apply the MST3K treatment to his films with a couple of my friends once. It failed. Uwe Boll is so bad that not even the power of MST3K can salvage him. In fact, Uwe Boll is so bad that my friends and I had to watch Catwoman just to get our brains working again.

I'm still alive.

Alone in the Dark made a bad taste in my mouth. Still I persevere. In the Name of the King - A Dungeon Siege Tale is next on my viewing list. Wish me well.

Finished In The Name of The King.

I think Boll's biggest problem is the transition from one scene to another.

Also his endings suck.

Still it was enjoyable in some parts.

I'm referring to the battle scenes.

Bolle would be good at b-c grade action/horror films but he needs to work on his execution.

I'm having some trouble acquiring Postal of the internet, but rest assured I shall watch it by next week.

Also for my next challenge, I might start reading Lovecraft Novels to see if the hype surrounding him as the master of suspense is fact.

Does anyone know anyplace where I can acquire such novels and or websites where I can download his novels and his bibliography/what he's written.
