Knight Errant

Notes: As I mentioned elsewhere with my Battles, Stars, & Knights stories, Revan found someone he was training. Not sure how much was said about how, but it was through a use of the farseeing abilities during his meditations. As for who he's teaching, well, this is primarily his story.

Lee grinned as the small craft's FTL spun down, and his ships main engines rumbled slightly.

One of his fathers friends had tracked him down in order to essentially blackmail him into attending the ceremony for Galactica's decommissioning.

However, the man hadn't succeeded in convincing him to take a temporary commission, or at least a temporary reinstatement.

He wasn't willing, even for a few days, to return to what he had been all so long ago before his eyes were opened.

The soldiers life had always felt wrong to him in one way or another, Zak's death had been the beginning of that, and someone else was the final thing to convince him to leave.

Nearly two years since leaving the military had changed him and set him on his own path rather than the one that had left him envisioning himself in his fathers uniform.

Lee had chosen the path another had given him along with the memories of his grandfather, however starships were also a part of his blood and prompted him to buy an old ship for himself as a hobby.

An old courier had been resting in the local scrapyard for years, outdated since the Cylon War as the Raptors replaced it in service during the later stages and the final ones being surplussed out following the fleet reduction after that war.

The Chariot had become his pet project, a seeming sign considering his callsign while in the service, and with his new teachers ideas, had been brought up to match the top of the line ships.

While the law was what his profession currently was, he was aiming more for the diplomatic core.

The radio cackled for a moment before a request for clearance codes.

"Galactica," he replied after reaching for the right console, "This is Apollo's Chariot, requesting landing clearance."

Well, there was already the deleted scene about him having turned in his papers during the miniseries. Lee was planning on quitting and that was something that was a long time in coming.

However, him being a force sensitive combined with receiving actual training, not to mention dealing with the fact that he has other things as well to think about. Add his enjoyment of dealing with the law, and there are a lot of possibilities there.

The Galactica seemed different now as he maneuvered to its functioning bay.

Part of it was comparing the old bird to some of the things he had seen in his dreams, ones that seemed to pass from the thoughts of his teacher.

That mixed with the stories his father had told him as a child and the other Battlestars that he'd been on.

With those as a comparison, the Galactica seemed almost worn.

Of course, the Chariot held much of the same qualities.

The courier craft were larger than the Raptors that replaced their duties, but the ship was still small enough to easily slide into the landing pod with enough maneuvering room to make egress easy enough as well.

Originally, the couriers would operate with a crew of between six to eight, but only required two to actually keep everything going. With the combat systems officially deactivated, the Chariot only needed one person. And with some of the hidden automation he'd installed, that meant that it could still fight if he needed to.

Of course, that meant that he'd had to work like hell on various worlds and "officially" have its home birth on one of the perimeter mining colonies without most of the regulations.

The dull thump of docking clamps sliding into place at the airlock let him relax and rise to his feet.
