Bleach Lantern Corps

o, I was browsing through my comics collection and once again I went through all the latest incarnations of the comics concerning the Green Lanterns corps and associates. The War of Light and Blackest Night saga are among the most well done things in comics like, ever. (That means more Spectrum real soon, by the way)

Then I was checking the recommended reading topic and a post made me wonder (going to open up a couple more twin threads in other sections), who of this manga would you put in which corps? For those who don't follow DC Comics, here's a brief summary of the qualifications and aspects of each Lantern Corps.

Red Lantern Corps
Emotion: Rage

The rule is, the farther from the center of the emotional spectrum, the more wild and uncontrollable the emotion and its power. The red light is one of those extremes.

Red Lanterns don't have enough focus to create constructs like most of the other corps. The only thing that they know how to do is how to spout red plasma out of their mouth, able to burn through almost everything in existence, and maim with physical strength.

To become a Red Lantern, it's not sufficient to just be angry at something or someone or desire revenge. One must have hate and vengeance become their daily fuel, be the only thing driving them to push forward.

Candidates:

Agent Orange
Emotion: Avarice

This is a strange one. It's called 'Agent' instead of 'Corps', because at the point in reading where I am, right after Blackest Night, there's only one individual wielding the power of the Orange Light as as such, of an entire corps. His 'lanterns' are the people who he kills and whose identity he steals, recreating them as constructs of orange light.

Though, during the crisis, one temporary recruit was Lex Luthor. You can probably understand the kind of guy. The requirement is to want, want, want. Want more, want better, want everything. Not quality, but quantity. Oranges in return for their ring get a never fulfilled feeling of hunger that goes with their avarice.

Candidates:

Sinestro Corps
Emotion: Fear

Named after the first one wielding a Yellow Ring, the Sinestro Corps search for those that are able to cause great fear. It isn't focused on murderers, even if they don't shy away from that. For example, one of their members was a sentient apocalyptic virus.

The point is to being able to cast fear into other people's hearts, either be by just existing or through your actions. The more easily you can make people fear you, the better.

Candidates:

Green Lantern Corps
Emotion: Will

The original corps, the center of the colored spectrum and where mostly good guys reside. Mostly because emotions shift and so do rings belonging.

Green is the color of will and courage. Most people because of that think that that means that being a Green Lantern requires being fearless, not having nothing to fear, to suddenly not fear something you feared anymore but that isn't possible nor is the truth. To become a Green Lantern, the requirement is to be able to 'overcome great fear', to be able to do wonders EVEN IF your pants are threatening to go from green to brown in a split second.

Candidates:
Well, if I have to think of people overcoming great fear... One examples shines above all of others in this manga, for me. Hanatarou. Why?

Remember the Rukia rescue arc? When he and Ganju find Rukia but Byakuka finds them?

Walking to your own funeral and doing it willingly. That's Green Lantern material. Seen it happen in the Comics too with lantern Isamoth Kol.

Blue Lantern Corps
Emotion: Hope

And there we go with the most powerful light of all. Yes, really. These guys don't create constructs, they just... Do things, affect things with the blue light. Can turn back suns from supernovas to blue stars in a heartbeat.

It's not enough to 'wish upon a star'. To be a Blue Lantern, one must be a saint. Have a strong, unwavering faith that 'all will be well'. Even in the face of hardships, death, overwhelming odds.

These blue rings have a great weakness, though. Hope without the will to make things come true is useless, right? So are the blue rings without a green ring to make them spark.

Candidates:

Indigo Tribe
Emotion: Compassion

Well... From where I've read there's next to nothing known about these corps. All I know is that they're a tribe and... Well, this is a spoiler I read by error. Most are reformed murderers.

Anyone knowing more WRITE IN WHITE WITH A SPOILER TAG WHEN YOU POST! I'M READING HERE, DAMN IT!

About their character, Indigo Lanterns have put an interest and emphasis on selflessness, altruism, goodwill, the good of all. They claim do discard everything 'tied to individualism'.

Candidates:

Star Sapphires
Emotion: Love

And last but not least, another extreme of the spectrum. That's bad, yes. Now, you can probably ask yourself, how can love be bad? Well, think of all that can come out of love. Stalking, control maniacs, fights, domestic violence. Those are risks. Love can bring out all other emotions. Some good, some real bad. Because of that, the idea of love of the Zamarons, the Star Sapphires' patrons, is one that verges on complete control.

Members of this corps are all females, and they all have a big hole in their heart left by a lost love, and 'lost love' can be whatever filled their hearts and then disappeared. Their mission is to make love 'conquer all'. The problem is that they're not above brainwashing.

Candidates:

For obvious reasons I left out the Black Corps.

Well...for just plain fear I'd pick Gin. Seriously, he creeps everyone out. He seems to take pride in creeping out as many people as possible, without even doing anything. It's implied that his time in Las Noches primarily consists of trolling the residents.

And Hanataro for the GLC...that I would have never thought of. Good show, man, good show.

Rage...how about Tousen. While for the most part he seems pretty calm, it sounds like his whole motivation for joining Aizen is HATE for a person's death and the injustice in bringing in the killer.

After his fights Kenpachi and Grimmjow, Ichigo seems a prime candidate for a green ring.

Orihime fits both the blue and indigo rings.

Hanataro would work for a blue ring, too.

Gin is almost a perfect member of the Sinestro Corps.

I could see Matsumoto as a member of the Star Sapphires.

Aizen would make a good Agent Orange.

Going by your descriptions of the rings... Though Reds technically can make constructs, few do because of the whole berserker thing. Atrocitus does but he's in control of himself.

Most Hollows/Espada/Bleach villains in general would fit under Yellow.
I'm pretty sure only Yammy's released form at its maximum would even be considered for Red.
Ulquiorra is a definite Yellow.
Harribel and Neliel would probably be Indigo with Neliel having the possibility of being Sapphire after being forced into kid form.
Aizen would most likely fit orange. Though after Gin 'killed' him and the orb remade him with wings, he could probably be considered the only Black member.

Ichigo on the other hand, has exhibited traits for multiple rings. Green is a given. Blue also fits him. His hollow form screams Yellow. I'd consider him Green, Zangetsu Blue and his hollow self Yellow. The merged form of the three would probably fit something else.

Orihime fits Blue and could fit Indigo and Sapphire. Chad and Uryu fit Green.

Soul Society in General fits Green with Kenpachi being either Ex-Yellow or a Yellow who thinks Greens are more fun to be around since they've got brass balls. Though Mayuri could also be an Orange posing as a Green.

Edit: Oh Gin. He's definitely a multiple type person too. Pretends to be Green. People think he's secretly Yellow, turns out he's much worse. He'd probably be a Red with a Blue ring to keep him in control of himself.

Heheheh. That's why I'm awesome. Thinking out of the box is fundamental, young padawan. :D

Also, it's not that simple for Rage. Basically, it has to be rage because of a reason, not just because one wants to bash things. Atrocitus, the leader of the red lanterns, is the greatest raging being in existence because he wants avenge the murder of a whole sector. That's hundreds of billions of beings. He's angry because he loves life.

Sasuke from Naruto would make a perfect Red Lantern. As misguided his hate is, he has the reason and the drive.

Almost all of the qualify for black. Though you might have to find their old body first, so Yamamto is out.

Scratch almost. Theorically, they're all dead. There was the fact though that Black Lanterns are Rings wearing the bodies of the dead, not their souls. So... Damn. Having to cut down your own decomposing body is fucked up shit.

Yamamato's body has already decomposed. He's been dead for over two thousand years.
