League of Legends

Riot is working on a more firm punishment for toxic players:

The League of Legends community has an unfortunate reputation, but Riot Games is eager to change it. Lead Designer of Social Systems Jeffrey Lin has tweeted that the studio will test new disciplinary measures today (July 21), with a view to introducing them permanently should they prove effective. Punishable offences include "intentional feeding, racism, death threats (and) homophobia."

"Today, players that show extreme toxicity (intentional feeding or racism, etc) will be instantly (banned for) 14 day or permabanned in #LeagueOfLegends," Linn wrote. If the one day test run works, the company will roll out the policy permanently. Linn later clarified the new rules - and the way they'll be enforced - in a Reddit thread.

"We'll be testing one server at a time in small doses to monitor the effectiveness of the system carefully and minimize false positives," Linn wrote. "All Riot regions will get the same test at some point in the future. Depending on the results of the tests, we'll be rolling this system out more permanently on all servers."

"In the past, we've avoided publicly naming and shaming players; however, we've learned in recent months that being transparent is extremely critical to the playerbase's trust in our systems, so we've decided to do a compromise. If players complain about unfair bans for this particular system (so, have a ban year code of 2500), we're going to be fully transparent and posting the chat logs that resulted in the ban."

Lin also said Riot is looking at introducing measures to punish leavers and AFKs (away from keyboard). It follows a rather awkward situation last month when two League of Legend Championship Series players were suspended for "extremely toxic behavior".
The two players were Alfonso Aguirre "Mithy" Rodriguez and Erlend "Nukeduck" Holm, members of Team Ninjas in Pajamas. Rodriguez had more than 30% of his games ending in reports for his toxicity, while Holm only had "roughly" 30% of his games ending in reports.

Frankly, if they're finally getting the ban hammers polished up, I think it'll be a good thing.

Only thing that makes me sad is the idea that we won't get as much witty or funny crap on Tribunal.

The issue I have is that I've seen many people get reported because of the person reporting is an asshole and not them themselves.

Also I'm concerned about being punished for AFK. I have been dc'd before and League just took that as being AFK. I know this because I was playing with friends and they all said that I was just standing there.

I think that's why they mention "false positives" and are starting it cautiously.

Showed up on my r/all feed, but it was hilarious. After many pages of riot trying to politely tell someone to go to hell, riot realizes that they banned him for him insulting his own bad plays.

He's unbanned now.

Its the first time they've actually found a false positive for their new system though.

Lyte Smites are entertaining as fuck to read.

No, it's just the first time they got forced to admit it.

I mean, really now, after the god knows how many millions of cases, one false report? Yeah, sure, I've got a clock tower to sell you :p

its the first one that someone publically challenged, and riot was wrong on their initial ban.

Random lulz: got an email stating that they cleared all my chat restrictions that were awarded due to 'teething issues' with the new system.

Stage 1 of World's group stage is done.

It has been epic as hell.

If you weren't watching, go rewatch all the vods. All of them.

So far Worlds is living up to the hype, and we've only had the EASY groups. Group of Death C and Europes Last Chance Group D are coming up this week, and holy fuck will Group C be insane.

The fuck was those games, cloud 9?

Balls is contributing nothing to the team right now, Meteos is troll picking, and Hai is straight the fuck up playing like a retard with no eyes. Sneaky is doing solid, and the best thing that can be said about lemon is that he's not playing BADLY... but I'm pretty sure he's in charge of picks and bans, so wtf is going on?

Anyone else having the problem where sometimes when you level up an ability, you randomly lose points in your Q permanently?

I've had it happen on Rengar and on Kat.

Pretty much instakilled any hope I had of contributing to my team.

I already fully pre-ordered Monster Hunter 4U anyway, so I'd just spent like 30 bucks on RP. Glad my friend randomly mystery gifted me EL TIGRE so I won't have to get it, meaning I have 30 bucks worth of RP to make sure my skins for Sona is still completed~

Sona's been my main ever since I started playing League about 3-4 years now, so I'll be happy to buy this Ultimate.
